Chapter 2001: Chapter 2000: Fox Clan Secrets

"Oh!"

Li Feng didn’t expect that the young Fox Clan member in front of him was also driven by the purpose of refining his bloodline. However, according to the rules Li Feng had previously set, one had to earn merit by working hard to gain the opportunity.

Unexpectedly, this Fox Clan youth took the initiative.

"You’re quite conceited. If I really thought those Demon Clan members were burdens, why would I recruit them under my banner?"

Li Feng looked at Hu Wei and said.

Hu Wei smiled and said, "Because that’s exactly what you’re trying to achieve. Both you and I know that although you recruit many people, most of them are a rabble, hardly capable of withstanding a blow, yet you still recruit them aggressively, accepting anyone who comes."

"I was also wondering why you were doing this. Even though you’re recruiting tribes under the banner of the Fire Phoenix Clan, strengthening your forces, it all seems very reasonable."

"But, one point cannot be ignored, and that is the supply of provisions. All the provisions you acquired were from several previous camps, and although the quantity seems abundant, if distributed among tens of thousands of the Demon Clan, my calculations show that it’s barely enough for the journey to deplete them, and by the time you reach the main camp, there would be little logistic supply left."

"If you had recruited ten to twenty thousand people, these provisions would be enough for a month, establishing a foundation, provisions in hand; there would be hardly any leverage, and this period would be enough for you to establish your base."

"Although the numbers aren’t many, at least they would obey orders under your command."

"Yet you insist on recruiting tens of thousands of Demon Clan members, even letting many tribes follow, seemingly presenting an imposing air, given that a crowd of a hundred thousand is no small number."

"But the consumption of provisions and controlling so many members of the Demon Clan will become problems. Based on my observations, although you simply categorized the recruited Demon Clan members, in reality, you haven’t actually controlled these tens of thousands of the Demon Clan."

"Apart from the central army of two or three thousand, the rest of the Demon Clan are merely traveling along compliantly. With such troops, forget about attacking and conquering; even if you ordered a charge, they’d likely disintegrate on their own."

"If this is your standard, then fine, but judging by your previous methods, this shouldn’t be your level. This leads to only one conclusion: you never really cared about those ragtag recruits."

"Recruiting them may just be to consume provisions, giving the impression that you don’t understand war or leading troops. As for why you’re doing this, I can pretty much guess."

"The Fire Phoenix Clan has been dormant for a thousand years, yet you want to act contrary to the normal trend—heh, that’s obviously not easy. The powerful Demon Clan members wouldn’t allow it, so even if they do not move against you openly, they will suppress you in secret."

"The more you display your genius, the stronger their sense of crisis and the more targeted they become, so you’re intentionally exposing flaws, displaying your ignorance, merely to deceive those people."

"Am I not correct?"

Hu Wei looked up confidently at Li Feng, who listened to Hu Wei’s analysis indifferently. The Fox Clan is indeed one of the few intelligent races within the Demon Clan, and if not for the myriad of races within the Demon Clan each harboring their intentions, the Ancestor Dragon City side wouldn’t have withstood so many battles relying solely on the Fox Clan’s strategies.

Perhaps due to their adept strategizing, many Demon Clan members are more wary of them. This is the price of being overly intelligent for the Fox Clan.

"Alright, let’s say this is my purpose, but you presumptuously make decisions for me. Do you think you’re smarter than me?"

Li Feng looked at Hu Wei.

Hu Wei was briefly taken aback, then said, "What’s this, Fire Phoenix Clan’s inclusiveness ends here? If so, wanting to restore the Fire Phoenix Clan to its former glory would be a joke."

Li Feng curled his lips.

"So you mean that if I’m not inclusive and don’t entrust you with a significant responsibility, I’m doomed to have no future, right?"

"Heh, this provocation, even a three-year-old child knows this trick, yet you use it on me. Do you really think I’m that stupid?"

This Hu Wei is indeed exceptionally clever, inferring most of Li Feng’s purposes from mere clues. But this fellow made a common mistake that clever people make—thinking themselves too clever.

"Put him in the Beast Cage for me."

"Yes."

At Li Feng’s command, a trusted aide stepped forward and confined Hu Wei inside a Beast Cage on a Horned Rhinoceros, a cage filled with pet beasts collected by Ran Yue.

"You can’t do this, I come from the Fox Clan, you need me...," Hu Wei shouted loudly.

"Shut his mouth."

Shadow directly used Shadow Binding to block his mouth, quieting the world considerably, and this Hu Wei was soon locked into a Beast Cage.

"Master, are you interested in this young Fox Clan member?"

Chong Xuan asked.

"Although he’s too clever for his own good, he does have some wits. With proper grooming, he might be useful." Li Feng had recruited many Demons capable of battle, but few who had brains.

This Hu Wei stumbled into this situation.

"But before that, we need to find out how he ended up here," Li Feng said.

"Why not leave this to me?"

Ran Yue volunteered from the side.

"You want to?"

"Yes, isn’t he locked in the Beast Cage and neighbors with my pet beasts? Why not let me try," Ran Yue said.

Li Feng looked into her eyes for two seconds. "Alright, give it a try first."

"Master, I’ve also been to Qingqiu, the Fox Clan, and know some of their rules. The Fox Clan is female-dominated, and the males generally have low status, akin to vassals. Even when there are too many male foxes, the clan often drives some of them out to fend for themselves."

Upon hearing this, Li Feng turned to Chong Xuan.

"Are there truly such rules?"

"Yes, indeed, the Fox Clan is female-dominated. If male foxes aren’t selected after reaching adulthood, they’re exiled, and many bloodline talents of the Fox Clan can only be awakened by vixens. Male foxes’ bloodlines appear rather ordinary."

"This results in most male foxes being weak, relegated to menial roles, and if the Fox Clan didn’t need male foxes for reproduction, they probably wouldn’t keep them."

This resembles a daughter country.

Li Feng sighed.

"If that’s the case, then his seeking me to refine his bloodline makes sense."

Chong Xuan nodded as well. "However, I’m afraid refining the bloodline won’t necessarily make him stronger because historically, there hasn’t been a powerful male fox from the Fox Clan. Instead, there are many prodigious vixens. The current Fox Clan Leader, the Nine-tailed Heavenly Fox, is nearly of demonic intelligence and her beauty is unparalleled, known as the most beautiful among the Demon Clan."

"Have you seen her?"

Chong Xuan shook his head. "I’d like to, but the opportunity hasn’t arisen. Qingqiu prohibits outsiders from entering. Once, while passing by Qingqiu, I did encounter a fox demon outside—truly exquisite."
