The veiled woman, however, shook her head decisively. "No, this isn’t the way out. It’s the path into the Demon Mountain."

Just as the veiled woman finished speaking, a sudden gust of wind blew past, scattering the surrounding black mist.

Through the haze, as if in a trance, a magnificent mountain suddenly appeared before them. Its crimson cliffs filled their entire field of vision.

All they could see were the jagged, grotesque rocks of the Demon Mountain.

Somehow, without anyone realizing it, they had arrived at the foot of the Demon Mountain.

"This..."

Instantly, the group erupted in shocked murmurs, turning to look at one another in dismay.

Qin Muhe, who was leading the way, slowly turned his head. His eyes were cold, his face was like ice, devoid of all emotion. He looked at Shen Daoxing and the others as if they were a colony of ants.

Qin Muhe looked at the veiled woman with a faint, detached air. "You’re a clever one, little girl."

Chu Guifeng stared at Qin Muhe, his face full of confusion. "Elder Qin, why are you doing this?"

Qin Muhe replied with cold indifference, "I don’t need to explain my actions to any of you!"

Then, Qin Muhe simply raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

An invisible pressure descended from the sky, slamming down on them like a mountain of immense weight, nearly crushing the air from their lungs.

Then, Qin Muhe gently extended a finger and lifted it slightly.

Instantly, it was as if an invisible hand had seized them all, lifting them slowly into the air, completely immobilized.

Chu Guifeng let out a great roar as his body erupted in light, trying to break free.

"BOOM!"

Like a bolt from the blue, a streak of white light descended from the heavens and struck Chu Guifeng.

"Argh!"

Chu Guifeng cried out in pain. The light around his body dimmed, and his face instantly turned deathly pale.

Ahead, Qin Muhe didn’t spare Chu Guifeng a single glance. He leaped effortlessly into the air, carrying the entire group up the Demon Mountain.

Through the thick mist and past jagged rocks, their vision was filled with crimson. In no time at all, they had reached a point midway up the Demon Mountain.

Shen Daoxing looked up ahead and saw a resplendent and magnificent complex of palaces, shockingly embedded in the cliff face—half protruding from the rock, half nestled within it.

The architectural style was archaic, a stark contrast to the styles of the East Continent, and it exuded a desolate, ancient aura.

Before the palace gates stood a colossal stone statue.

It was tall and imposing, with six arms, each wielding a different weapon. Its presence was so majestic that a single glance inspired an overwhelming urge to kneel in worship.

"W-what is this place?"

Their eyes widened as they gazed up at the magnificent palace complex.

"This is Celestial Demon City!"

The veiled woman, who had been silent, suddenly spoke. Her eyes, filled with an unreadable emotion, were fixed on the structures before them. She seemed to know a great deal about this place.

Chu Guifeng, Qian Gui, and Ma Wan were also stunned. They had roamed the Jiuli Mountain Range for years, yet they never knew such an ancient city existed within the Red Land Demon Realm.

Shen Daoxing turned to look at the veiled woman curiously and asked, "Celestial Demon City?"

Shen Daoxing knew a fair amount about the history of the East Continent, but he had never heard of such a city.

The veiled woman gazed at the scene with a complex expression. "This is from a part of our East Continent’s history, from ten thousand years ago. In truth, the Red Land Demon Realm wasn’t a Forbidden Land back then, and it certainly wasn’t as dangerous as it is now. At that time, the East Continent wasn’t controlled by the Celestial Profound Sacred Land. It was the domain of the Celestial Demon Sect, and all other sects, great and small, had to obey their commands."

"The Celestial Demon Sect!"

Chu Guifeng paused as a memory surfaced. "The former number one Demon Sect of the East Continent?"

The veiled woman nodded. "That’s right. The former number one Demon Sect of the East Continent. And Celestial Demon City was the site of their main sect."

As she spoke, the veiled woman looked up at Qin Muhe ahead and gave a meaningful smile. "Of course, since this was once the sacred city of the foremost Demon Sect, it must certainly hold the legacy of the Celestial Demon Sect."

And as the veiled woman’s voice fell...

"ROAR!"

The colossal roar of a ferocious beast exploded in their ears like a deafening thunderclap.

"Th-that’s the sound of a Chi Yi!" someone shouted.

Everyone was suddenly startled.

Stunned, Chu Guifeng looked ahead. "Qin Muhe, what in the world are you trying to do?"

"If you don’t want to die, shut your mouth right now!"

Qin Muhe’s cold, indifferent voice drifted back from ahead. Chu Guifeng felt his throat suddenly constrict, as if an invisible hand were choking him, cutting off his breath.

After a long moment, the pressure on his neck vanished, and he began to gasp for air.

By this point, Qin Muhe had led them unknowingly into the towering palace complex.

They passed through one grand hall after another, a world of magnificent pavilions and carved jade railings.

Then, set against a sundered cliff face, a magnificent hall that had been sheared in half appeared before them.

Qin Muhe led them slowly forward and into a great hall, where the thick, coppery stench of blood immediately assaulted their senses.

They looked ahead and shuddered. The interior of the half-destroyed hall was painted crimson. The floor and walls were coated in blood, where five or six gory corpses lay strewn about.

Chu Guifeng’s eyes landed on something, and he gasped in shock. "Th-that’s Wei Heng, the old ancestor of the Celestial Awakening Empire’s Wei Family! He was known as the Miraculous Hand of the East Continent, an expert at the Seventh Layer of the Earth Profound Realm! How could he have suddenly appeared and died here?"

Before him lay an old man with a resolute face and long white hair, cold upon the floor. His eyes were wide, as if he had seen something terrifying before death. His entire lower body was gone, leaving a pool of blood on the ground.

As Chu Guifeng’s words faded, Ma Wan cried out in shock. "Th-that’s Daoist Master Dayang from Dragon Tiger Mountain! A master of the Talisman Technique and an expert at the Eighth Layer of the Earth Profound Realm! He died here, too?"

In front of Ma Wan lay a kind-faced elder with an ethereal, saintly air and long, flowing white eyebrows.

Yet now, he had been cleaved in two right down from the crown of his head, lying tragically in a pool of blood.

"And that... that’s Yan Potian, the old ancestor of the Celestial Flame Empire! He was an expert at the Ninth Layer of the Earth Profound Realm! I heard he’d been in seclusion for many years. How could he have died here too?"

Qian Gui’s astonished voice suddenly rang out.

Before him, a portly old man sat limply on the ground. His entire chest was gone.

As they scanned the room, a wave of shock hit them all. Every single person lying dead on the ground was a renowned Earth Profound Realm expert from the East Continent—either an elder of a major sect or the ancestor of a great family.

They couldn’t begin to imagine what could have happened for so many Earth Profound Realm experts to have all died in this place.
