"It's so hot!"
"What the hell is this place?"
The people around them could no longer stand the high temperature, constantly wiping the sweat from their foreheads.
RUMBLE!
Without warning, the ground began to shake violently. Shen Daoxing heard a deafening BOOM as the massive volcano before them suddenly erupted.
Then, a giant fireball shot out from the volcano, tracing an arc across the sky like a massive meteor plummeting toward them.
The group froze for a moment, then, as if by some prior agreement, they all moved in unison to hide behind Shen Daoxing.
But Shen Daoxing merely lifted a finger. A speck of light flared at its tip, crossing a vast distance in a heartbeat.
Aurora Sword Intent.
BOOM!
A white rainbow streaked across the sky.
The giant fireball shattered on impact, scattering into countless sparks in every direction.
Just then, several large, fiery words slowly materialized in the sky above the volcano:
"Infinite Purgatory, Unwarranted Mountain Fire!"
Seeing this, Tao Ying quickly flipped through the book in her hands, then looked up. "The Celestial Demon Six Prisons: Volcano, Ice, Gloom, Grindstone... We're in the Volcano Prison."
As Tao Ying's voice faded, the group felt another violent tremor. They saw the black ground around them suddenly crack open, forming massive fissures.
Molten lava churned within, and something began to swell upward. Moments later, mountains of flame erupted from the earth, unleashing an unparalleled blaze.
The group hastily retreated to evade the flames, feeling the surrounding temperature spike by several more degrees.
Shen Daoxing turned to look at Xin, who was in Elder Mu's arms. The boy's brows were tightly knitted, his face had turned red, and his body was growing hot again.
Even with the protection of the Golden-Eyed Treasure-Seeking Rat's Ice Pearl, Xin was, after all, just an ordinary person. The ambient temperature was too high; he wouldn't be able to last much longer.
Suddenly, Shen Daoxing looked over at Tao Ying. "How do we get out?"
Tao Ying hurriedly flipped through her book. "The Celestial Demon Six Prisons—Volcano, Ice, Gloom, Grindstone, Che Beng, and Fengdu—have six levels in total. Each level is an infinite Purgatory. We need to reach the lowest level, the Fengdu Prison. The entrance to the next level is..."
As she spoke, Tao Ying glanced at her book and pointed forward. "There!"
Shen Daoxing looked up. She was pointing into the heart of the raging inferno, toward the massive volcano where it all began.
BOOM!
As if in response, the great volcano erupted with another deafening roar, spewing a serpent of fire that shot toward the heavens. Fiery rocks once again traced arcs across the sky, raining down like falling stars.
Shen Daoxing frowned. 'Xin can barely handle this heat. How can he possibly survive going inside the volcano?'
...
Meanwhile, Shen Daoxing and his party were traveling through the Volcano Prison.
On Demon Mountain, within a vast palace in Celestial Demon City.
"Hehehehe! Hehehehe!"
A skeletal, white-haired old man was grinning hideously.
He was so gaunt he was practically fleshless, his long white hair trailing on the floor. Only his eyes burned with a bright, intense light.
He was currently staring into an ancient bronze mirror, his lips curled in that same hideous grin. The scene within the mirror was of Shen Daoxing and his party trekking through the hellscape.
"Come! All of you, come! Hehehehe! The more, the better! Become nourishment for the Celestial Demon!"
The old man whispered to himself, his hoarse voice carrying a sinister, terrifying quality.
Beside him, a majestic and domineering lion lay prostrate on the floor.
It had three eyes, their gaze as sharp as a blade. Its body shimmered with light, and its enormous, fiery red wings were spread wide enough to blanket the entire hall.
This was none other than Chi Yi, the third-ranked Fierce Beast of the East Continent.
But at this moment, this Fierce Beast that had once dominated the Jiuli Mountain Range had its limbs bound by thick, silvery-white chains, its massive body lying quietly on the ground.
When the old man at its side turned and cast a cold glance at it, the Fierce Beast Chi Yi actually shuddered and lowered its head before him, appearing terrified.
Bright red wounds were clearly visible on its massive body, carved deep into its flesh—a shocking sight.
The old man then moved, slowly rising to his feet and turning to walk out of the grand hall.
Chi Yi immediately trembled with fear and took an involuntary step back.
The old man didn't even spare Chi Yi a glance. With a light flick of his sleeve, the palace gates suddenly swung open.
Instantly, a vast tide of red mist flooded in.
The old man waved his hand, then levitated into the air and floated outside.
This was the summit of Demon Mountain. A massive amount of red mist was now surging from the entire mountain, roiling upward to cover it completely, piercing the heavens and blotting out the sun.
In the center of the summit was a circular volcanic crater, from which dense Demonic Qi billowed.
But inside the crater was not roiling lava, but a terrifying, colossal face formed from crimson Demonic Qi. It snarled! It roared!
A pair of terrible, crimson, vertical eyes suddenly shot out two dazzling beams of red light that soared into the sky, piercing the clouds. The face looked as if it was struggling to break free at any moment, to claw its way out from the depths of the volcano.
ROAR!
A horrifying, soul-shaking roar shook the heavens and the earth, causing the entire Jiuli Mountain Range to tremble.
FLAP FLAP FLAP!
Great flocks of birds took to the sky, fleeing the Jiuli Mountain Range.
"Hehehehe! Hehehehe! Emerge, my Lord Celestial Demon! Descend upon our mortal realm once more! Let us restore the former glory of the Celestial Demon Sect!"
High above the summit of Demon Mountain, the skeletal old man hovered in the air, laughing maniacally with his arms outstretched.
Suddenly, the roiling red Demonic Qi around Demon Mountain intensified, and one by one, corpses flew out from within the mountain.
There was the ancestor of the Celestial Awakening Empire's Wei Family, Wei Heng! There was Daoist Master Dayang of Dragon Tiger Mountain! There was the ancestor of the Celestial Flame Empire, Yan Potian!
There was Qin Muhe, the one slain by Shen Daoxing!
Everyone who had died on Demon Mountain flew out, arcing high into the air before falling into the great volcanic crater at the summit.
ROAR!
Another horrifying, soul-shaking roar echoed.
Within the crater, the massive demonic face snarled and surged upward, trying to break free. But in the end, it seemed to be held back by something and shrank back down.
At the same time, on the border of the Jiuli Mountain Range, within the Ancient Battlefield, two old men in red Daoist robes stood atop a towering mountain peak. They gazed into the distance toward the Jiuli Mountain Range, as if they had sensed something.
One of the two had a long beard that hung down to his chest. His expression was kind and amiable, giving him an approachable air.
The other had a resolute face and a pair of sharp eyes that commanded respect without anger, making him difficult to approach.
These were the Mountain Masters of Jade Balance Mountain and Canglan Mountain.
