The tension was high in the express line.
Many students in the crowd, along with those watching the evaluation room, wondered what Ray would do.
The circumstances were unfavorable, and it was clear that he was losing on moral ground.
"Young Master..." By now, Belva somewhat regretted her actions that brought him into jeopardy.
She never anticipated that beating up a few students would involve the fourth prince and this annoying heroism disease person.
While Samantha didn’t harbor any goodwill toward Ray, she also didn’t wish for his downfall here. He indeed beat up a few students, but aside from the student he cut the line from, the other two kind of deserved it for flaunting their nobility status.
As a commoner, she always deposed these snobbish noble children who only had their background as weapons. So what if you were born noble or commoner?
In the end, what really defined a person was their strength, conduct, integrity, and morality.
’Ah, never mind, I also wanted to use that clown earlier to help me out of the plight, but they ended up being a dud.’ Samantha knew she wasn’t that much of an angel anyway, but at least she had self-awareness.
The majority of these born nobles lacked the self-awareness that they were just nobodies too if thrown into the wild forest.
While these two were worried for Ray, he closed his eyes softly.
"What is he doing?" Sylas raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Was he trying to prepare to really fight him?
Just in case, Sylas began to conjure mana within his palm. Even though the chances were really low for Ray to seriously attack him, he couldn’t be assured that he wouldn’t do it.
A madman could never be predicted in what type of actions they would do next.
A few seconds later, Ray opened his eyes.
’He’s really doing it!’ Sylas was alerted and got into his fighting stance.
Even William prepared himself for a battle ahead.
But in the next moment, the two went completely dazed.
BAM!
WHACK!
Sure, Ray really attacked, but not to them or anyone else. Instead, he gave himself a few punches to the stomach and dropped to the floor.
However, what really caught them off guard was his outburst.
"AHHH THE FOURTH PRINCE IS BEATING ME UP!"
Ray sprawled on the ground like a helpless worm being pecked by a pigeon.
"MERCY, FOURTH PRINCE! I’M SORRY FOR NOT LETTING YOU CUT THE LINE!"
"T-This crazy lunatic..." Sylas’s face immediately darkened when he realized what Ray planned on doing.
Rather than making a move on him physically, Ray was actually throwing dirt on him by twisting black and white.
You and your mother were the ones who cut the lines!
When did he need to cut the line?
Everyone else would have immediately moved aside and made way for him when he showed up!
Who didn’t know his fourth prince’s status besides the country bumpkins?
"Who is the Fourth Prince?" William suddenly scratched his head and asked curiously. He didn’t quite get Ray’s intention of calling out the fourth prince when everyone else was a student here.
Or at least that was what he believed when the guideline clearly stated that all students would forgo their status once entering the academy.
’Damn, this dumbass is a country bumpkin...’ Sylas twitched his mouth in disbelief. He had thought this person was of noble status because they were in the express line, which was indirectly meant for nobles to skip the large line outside.
Who could have imagined a country bumpkin slipped through the crack?
While Sylas was taken by surprise on both ends, Ray didn’t stop his accusation babbling.
"Ahh, I was wrong, Fourth Prince! Please forgive me. I didn’t mean to offend you by saying the other elder princes were more amiable and tolerant!"
"..."
Sylas nearly coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"S-stop it already!" He finally snapped.
"Will you let me go if I agree?" Ray paused briefly and asked innocently.
When Sylas began to hesitate, Ray started to open his mouth again.
"Fuck fuck fuck, damn it. I agree to let you go!" Sylas was truly afraid of what other nonsense he was going to pull. He couldn’t afford to have such slanderous rumors spread around.
"Swear an oath upon your Viren Household and the Crestellan Empire that you will let me go," Ray demanded.
"You—" Sylas’s face turned purple from a mix of anger and frustration.
How in the world did he even know he was going to go back on his words later on?
More importantly, he even made him swear upon the two things he didn’t even dare to joke around with.
"Don’t want to?" Ray raised an eyebrow and was about to lie back down on the ground.
Upon noticing that he was going to repeat the action, Sylas quickly panicked.
He was here to gain fame, and not infamy.
"Isn’t it just an oath!" Sylas snorted and proceeded to swear an oath to not pursue this matter. The academic semester was long anyway. He had more opportunities to target him other than this matter anyway.
Shortly after the oath was sworn, Sylas turned around and exited the premises. He didn’t even bat an eyelid at William because of how useless he was.
Or at least that was what he believed.
SLAP!
"You damn bastard actually dared to slap me!" While Sylas wasn’t looking, Ray slapped himself and quickly accused William of being the culprit.
"You’re good, man! You’ve deceived me! No wonder you swore an oath! You had your dogs do the beating on your behalf!"
’What?’ Sylas was dumbfounded. He turned around and noticed the bright red handprint on his face.
’This person...’ Based on Ray’s earlier words, this person actually slapped him to help relieve his anger.
’Seems like you have some uses.’ He thought to himself.
"You’re William, right? Come with me and avoid a madman like that person." Sylas said.
William scratched his head in confusion. He thought Sylas knew Ray was lying and told him to leave to avoid getting contaminated.
Thus, he nodded his head, but then clarified. "Wait, I haven’t completed my registration."
"No worries, we can just go to another express line!"
"Okay..."
Just like that, the two became an uncanny team.
