Kaya looked down at the hyena beastman on the ground. He was crawling backward, groaning in agony. These bastards were tough—down, but definitely not dead.

Before Kaya could even catch her breath, another hyena lunged at her in a swift, desperate strike. Kaya scowled, thoroughly irritated now. *"What the fuck?"* she muttered. As he rushed in blindly, she didn’t try to meet his strength head-on. Instead, she pivoted smoothly, raising her back leg to deliver a brutal kick to his gut. Using his own aggressive forward momentum against him, she grabbed his shoulder, twisted her hips, and judo-threw him violently onto the hard cave floor.

She wasn’t delusional. She knew a human woman couldn’t match a beastman in a contest of raw muscle and brute force. But raw power meant nothing if you didn’t have the brains to back it up. More importantly, this closed cave environment wasn’t a trap for her—it was *her* trap. She had anticipated an ambush from the start. The moment word got out that she was absorbing other tribes to build a wealthy, independent free clan, she knew the

powers who wanted to kill her wouldn’t stay silent. This was their optimal window to assassinate her before her forces grew too large.

What Kaya truly couldn’t believe was how unbelievably foolish these assassins were. Fine, maybe they underestimated a human. But how the hell could they forget about Veer? If these hyenas had two brain cells to rub together, they would be asking themselves where the Vulture tribe leader was right now. The answer? Veer and his all-seeing Vulture spies were currently outside the cave, systematically slaughtering the rest of the assassins that had been sent for her. He was handling the main invasion force while she cleaned up the trash that slipped through.

Kaya sighed, stepping over the groaning bodies of the thugs she had already beaten down.

The remaining hyenas snarled. Realizing they couldn’t just casually overpower her, they began to circle, preparing to rush her all at once to crush her with their superior beastman strength. But Kaya had no intention of fighting fair.

She backed up strategically toward the food supplies she had been sorting earlier. As the biggest hyenas roared and charged at her, Kaya’s hand darted to the table. She snatched a heavy pouch of supplies, ripped the top off, and hurled a massive cloud of finely crushed, dried chili powder directly into their faces.

The effect was devastating. Beastmen possessed incredibly heightened senses, making the spicy red dust act like pure acid. The attackers shrieked, skidding to a halt as they clawed blindly at their burning eyes. They coughed and gagged, their sensitive noses flaring in absolute agony.

Capitalizing on their total blindness, Kaya didn’t even bother bruising her knuckles on their thick jaws. She grabbed a long wooden pole from her supplies, using it to sweep their legs out from under them while shoving them violently toward the back of the cave. Stumbling blindly over the slippery rocks, the remaining hyenas plunged backward into the deep, freezing pool of underground cave water with a massive splash.

Thrashing wildly in the cold water, blinded, and choking on spice, the "superior" beastmen were completely incapacitated. Kaya stood safely at the water’s edge, dusting off her hands. She was just a human, and a woman at that, but it didn’t matter. She didn’t need to be stronger than them when she was infinitely smarter.

### The Aftermath

Kaya stood at the edge of the subterranean pool, calmly watching the hyena beastmen thrash in the freezing water. Every time one of them tried to blindly claw his way up the slippery rock face, she casually tapped the flat side of her stolen knife against the stone.

*Click. Click. Click.*

"Ah, ah, ah," Kaya tutted, her voice echoing off the damp cave walls. "I wouldn’t do that if I were you. The water might be freezing, but at least it’s washing the chili out of your eyes. Come up here, and I’ll make sure you lose more than just your vision."

The beastmen whimpered, treading water miserably. The sheer humiliation of being bested by a single human woman was finally setting in, replacing their initial arrogance with raw panic.

Suddenly, the soft, rhythmic sound of footsteps echoed from the cave entrance.

Kaya instantly dropped into a defensive stance, the knife gripped tightly in her hand, her eyes locked on the dark tunnel. But as the figure stepped into the dim light, she immediately relaxed her shoulders, letting out a long breath.

It was Veer.

The leader of the Vulture tribe strolled in with the casual elegance of a man returning from a leisurely evening walk. However, the fresh, dark crimson splatters across his clothes told a very different story. He wiped a jagged blade on a piece of cloth, his sharp, predatory eyes scanning the cavern before finally landing on Kaya.

He paused, taking in the chaotic scene: the overturned tables, the thick dusting of red spice settling over the floor, the groaning thug knocked out in the corner, and the pitiful splashing coming from the underground pool.

Veer raised a single eyebrow, a dangerously handsome smirk playing on his lips. **"I leave you alone for ten minutes to handle the perimeter, and you decide to host a pool party?"**

"What can I say?" Kaya shrugged, tossing her stolen knife onto the table with a loud clatter. "They insisted on coming inside. I just offered them a warm welcome. Or, well... a spicy one."

Veer chuckled—a deep, rumbling sound. He walked up to stand beside her, his towering frame casting a long shadow over the water. The hyenas froze, their bloodshot eyes widening in absolute dread as they recognized the Vulture chief. If Kaya was a clever trickster, Veer was the grim reaper.

"The main strike force outside has been dealt with," Veer reported smoothly, his tone shifting back to business. "Cutie is sweeping the area to ensure no one else slipped through. But these ones..." He looked down at the shivering hyenas with absolute disdain. "They’re bottom-feeders. Cheap mercenaries."

"Exactly," Kaya nodded, crossing her arms. "Which means someone with deep pockets hired them. The rival tribes are getting desperate to stop our free clan from taking off."

Veer crouched at the edge of the water, his eyes narrowing into a lethal glare as he locked onto the sleazy hyena leader who had threatened Kaya earlier.

"So," Veer began, his voice dropping to a terrifyingly quiet whisper that chilled the beastmen far more than the icy water. "You have two choices. You can stay in that pool until your muscles give out and you drown..."

He let the threat hang in the air for a second before continuing.

"...Or you can tell my partner here exactly whose coin is resting in your pockets. Choose quickly. I’m out of patience."

Kaya smiled, leaning casually against the cave wall. Her trap had worked perfectly, and they had survived the assassination attempt without a single casualty on their side. Now, it was time to find out exactly who was going to pay for this mess.

Here’s a continuation in the same style:

Kaya knew she wasn’t going to get much information out of them.
