"H-Hey!" she gasped, her composed demeanor crumbling by his shameless teasing. She gripped her hilt tighter, stomping the ground like a kid. "Shut your damn mouth, Eren! That has nothing to do with this!"

Eren let out a hearty laugh, raising his sword back into a balanced high-guard stance as his dark blue eyes locked onto hers with sharp, playful focus.

"Then let’s stop chatting and fight already, Miss Future Saintess."

Alice gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with enthusiasm as she vanished in a blinding blur of radiant light.

"Oh, so we’re playing that game?" Eren chuckled, his blue eyes lighting up with thrilling mischief

.

He leaned into his front foot and burst his own momentum. In a fraction, Eren vanished into a crackling blur of lightning, leaving scorch marks and static arcs sizzling on the sand where he had stood prior.

Up on the stepped seating, the noble girls were excited in their seats.

"Are they treating this like an actual death match?!" one of Aria’s friends gasped.

"They’re going completely all out..." her chubby friend muttered, eyes wide with awe.

Aria, however, didn’t say a single word. The blue-haired villainess sat frozen, completely shocked, her eyes widened as she stared at Lightning Steps.

That precise footwork was a secret movement technique belonging exclusively to House Reedings.

"How on earth did that idiot learn to replicate my family’s technique...?" Aria whispered under her breath with a mix of disbelief and suspicious pride bubbling in her chest.

Down below, Eren’s aura collided dead-center with Alice’s divine aura at supersonic speeds. The violent shockwave detonated across the arena floor, making a BOOM and launching a swirling crater of dust into the air.

As the dust settled, Eren was sprawled flat on his back in the sand, knocked off balance by the impact.

Before he could catch his breath, Alice flashed out of the dust cloud like a golden spirit, standing directly over him with her blade raised high.

"You’re remarkably fast, Volsver," Alice teased, her voice breathless yet playful. "But you’re still not quite on my level!"

She swung the flat of her blade down.

With zero time to raise a guard, Eren violently jerked his hips to the side. The steel edge missed his ribs by a fraction, plunging deep into the dirt.

Alice raised an eyebrow in pleasant surprise, thoroughly enjoying the duel. Without skipping a beat, she twisted the blade and dragged it horizontally through the sand towards him.

Eren rolled sideways across the dirt with frantic speed, scooped up his fallen sword, and got back to his feet in one movement.

The moment his boots touched the sand, Alice was already upon him. She unleashed a relentless barrage of high-speed, blinding thrusts and slashes, her holy aura painting dazzling golden arcs in the air.

Eren was forced purely on the defensive, his boots skidding across the sand as he barely managed to parry and weave through the onslaught by mere inches.

’Damn it...’

His left eye twitched as the [Temporal Eye] fired off an endless stream of predictive trajectories. The dizzying feeling flooded back again, making his balance wobble. He was adapting, but operating an experimental spell while dodging the strongest person was proving to be a disaster.

Filtering out, Eren locked onto a single, branching outcome and gambled everything on a counter. Turning around, he drove his blade forward in a vicious retort that forced the Saintess onto her back foot.

Every time she shifted her guard to parry, Eren’s sword was already arriving at the exact angle of her deflection, pressing into her blind spots as if he had memorized her moves a week in advance.

’How is he reading me like this?’ Alice thought, her amber eyes widening.

In her first timeline, Eren Volsver was an arrogant, predictable lightweight who had been crushed and died by Reinhardt. But the man standing before her now was an entirely different monster. He was calculating, terrifyingly sharp, and somehow pulling off tactical feats that she never saw in her previous life.

Deciding to raise the stakes, Alice tightened her grip. Her speed surged, and with deliberate theatrical flair, she gave a tempting opening along her left flank.

Eren lunged for the bait.

"Shit," Eren muttered the split-second he committed to his attack, realising he had fallen into her trap.

Alice smiled radiantly as she pivoted into the trap, raising her glowing sword to deliver a clean, match-ending strike. Eren’s eye glinted, showing him three different angles of absolute defeat—his sword was out of position, and every grounded dodge was sealed shut by her reach.

She thought she had him completely cornered. But the triumphant smirk on Alice’s face flattened the moment Eren met her gaze with an equal grin.

"If the ground is sealed, I’ll take the sky."

Dumping a concentrated burst of mana straight into the soles of his feet, Eren detonated the heat in a kinetic explosion. The sudden concussion blew the leather boots off his feet and pushed his entire body upward into the air, flying clean over Alice’s sweeping arc.

Alice stumbled slightly as her attack sliced empty air, looking upward in disbelief.

Flipping mid-air gracefully, Eren descended directly behind the Saintess, landing squarely on the sand with her wide-open back completely exposed to his strike.

The entire arena gasped in unison at the trick.

"Fuck that!" the Saintess cursed under her breath.

Refusing to be outplayed, Alice tapped into her maximum burst speed. In the span of a single millisecond, she contorted her frame, whipped around, and brought her divine-coated blade up just as Eren’s aura-infused sword came crashing down from above.

BOOM!

The collision of gold and greenish-blue aura created an explosive, blinding shockwave that tore through the center ring.

Up in the seating, Emma, the students, and even Violet instinctively raised their forearms to shield their eyes from the blinding flash. The forceful blast of wind whipped everyone’s hair wildly backward—except for the bald referee, whose scalp simply shone under the flash.

As the blinding aura faded and the swirling dust began to settle, the entire arena leaned forward in breathless anticipation to see who was left standing.

Both of them were.

Eren and Alice stood in the center of the crater, their chests heaving with ragged, synchronized breaths, covered in sweat and sand.

Both of them held the shattered, smoking hilts of their destroyed swords, pointed at each other’s throats.

Neither willing to yield a single inch.
