Chapter 78: Chapter 78- Malicious

Chapter 78- Malicious

After swinging the sword around for a moment, Rize stopped and looked at it with a contemplative look. He knew that this sword was very strong, and what was even more important than that, and what made him go for it of all possible weapons, was one simple thing.

"It evolves. It feeds off the monsters that I kill and evolves and gets stronger." Rize muttered. "This is very important because I will most likely not have time to keep changing weapons and getting familiar with them over and over again."

Rize’s style of battle was very versatile and very adaptive to the situation at hand. He can go brute force for brute force when he needs to, and he could be the most technically gifted swordsman in the world if he wished for it. Geralt taught him how to fight with the goal of making him the best fighter in every possible situation.

However, as good as that was, it also made changing weapons extremely tough for him, because it would alter his balance. Adapting to these new weapons means having to adapt every style of fighting he has to that which would take a lot of time and effort.

Rize opted for the easier option, which is a sword that grows with him and keeps up with him rather than a sword that is strong but remains the same the entire time and eventually becomes far too weak.

"But, this sword... Blade of Wrath. It is very ominous. The story doesn’t mention its origins or what it truly is in great detail, but I can tell that it is an evil sword." Rize said. "Its aura reminds me of Endless Hunger. So malicious and bloodthirsty."

Rize didn’t know if it was purely a coincidence or not, but both his gift and his weapon are now of the same nature. Both were dark, both were black, and both were incredibly hostile and very domineering in nature. They both also grow from feasting on other things.

"I guess that should mean they would complement each other well, right?" Rize asked as he summoned his Endless Hunger. The arm looked at the sword curiously as if trying to understand what it was. "Yeah, welcome our new family member. This sword will be my weapon, alongside you. Treat it well."

The Gift looked at Rize and then slowly retreated back into the darkness. Rize could only shake his head.

"Well, let’s check this thing’s description." He muttered. Almost instantly, an entire new panel formed before his eyes.

[Name: Blade of Wrath]

[Item: Sword]

[Type: Katana]

[Nature: Evolving]

[Rank: Tier 1 (0%)]

[Aspects: Black Fury - Blood Eater]

[Black Fury: With each successful attack on a target, Blade of Wrath builds up fury, increasing the strength, speed, and damage of the sword. Can stack up to 20 times. Deactivates after 30 seconds of inaction.]

[Blood Eater: Blade of Wrath absorbs the blood of dead enemies and gets stronger.]

[Description: A Blade Forged in the depths of the ’Abyss’. Its blade burned in the black flames for thousands of years, absorbing the wrath of every wretched soul burning in it. Its power? Unmatched. Its goal? To devour everything in its path... Even things that nobody would expect.]

"What the hell is that description, first of all? Come on, man. The abyss? Really? That’s the equivalent of hell in my world. No wonder this thing feels demonic. But... What does it mean by ’Even things that nobody would expect’?"

Rize felt a chill run down his spine as he read that description. It sounded more like a warning rather than an explanation of the sword’s origin. Something told him that it would be very relevant in the future. But, at the same time, there wasn’t much he could do beyond mulling over it.

Instead, he decided to read the rest of the good things.

"Holy... It is exactly as the story described it. Two Aspects? Isn’t that extremely rare in most items? I really landed gold! No diamonds!" Rize could not be any happier with this sword. Malicious or not, it was extremely powerful, and the fact that nobody discovered that yet was such a shocker to him. "I need to go out hunting soon to start gaining strength. After I fully heal, it will be time to actually start working hard."

Nodding his head with a satisfied look, Rize put the sword to the side and sat down. After the unusual start to the day, things finally went well for him, and he got his personal weapon.

"Aaaaah, life is good." He muttered as he looked at his hand. "What should I do to this? It’s still bleeding."

*Grumble*

Then, his stomach made a loud noise out of nowhere, reminding Rize that he hadn’t eaten anything yet.

"Alright, alright, shut up; I will eat."

With that, the boy walked out of the room, closing the door behind him and leaving the sword alone.

*Next Day*

The sun rose on the horizon, casting its light upon the capital. The Founder’s Time Piece reflected the light, shining brightly and eternally as the beacon of power of Sagardia. The capital woke up slowly to another day... A day unlike any other day in this magnificent city.

A day that will change the course of history. Even as people went about their day, there was this thought in the back of their heads.

At 3:00 pm sharp, the King would speak in the main plaza of the city to explain what happened in the amusement park incident and to reassure the scared masses. It had been four days, and the people needed an urgent explanation from their king.

Many were skeptical, even more were terrified, and the majority were ready to witness what the man who had brought them this life would say to solve this crisis. Nobody knew what to expect, so the news outlets took their freedom to guess and come up with what could be the speech that King Theodore would say.

Every channel, every app on every phone had something to do with these events. It wasn’t something that simply concerned the capital, or even the empire as a whole... It concerned the entire world.

Sagardia was the hub of merchants from all over the globe. Entire industries were built within its lands, and people would travel for months just to get a piece of that pie, not to mention the other rivaling nations and clans waiting to see where the future leads this damned nation.

In other words, the entire world was waiting for Theodore to say his word and announce to the world what they were going to do.

An hour before the speech, the plaza started filling up with people. Even though it was hundreds of meters long and several thousand meters wide, the place was chock-full of people. The crowd exceeded 100 thousand and was growing rapidly.

Just watching the scenes from above would make anyone feel intimidated. But not the king of the nation, who had given speeches before crowds that big before.

"This is really intense..." Rize muttered as he watched the scenes from the higher floor of the palace. "They look like ants... or a smeared canvas of different colors."

Looking down, Rize adjusted his bowtie and his suit before he turned around to look at the door as it opened and Venera walked out.

The show was about to begin.
