Lin Mu’s mind immediately evaluated the battlefield.

Every prisoner, every weapon, every possible angle of attack, every escape route and every hidden danger was assessed. Years of battle experience processed everything almost instinctively.

Even the incoming energy was analyzed and ignored by Lin Mu as he could not sense any danger from it directly. And within a single breath, several dozen possibilities flashed through his thoughts.

Every scenario reached exactly the same conclusion.

’Weak.’ His eyes narrowed slightly. ’Far too weak.’

The prisoners certainly possessed numbers. They also possessed experience surviving within the Mad Demon Depths. Yet those advantages could only compensate for so much. Starvation had reduced them to shadows of their former selves.

Their muscles lacked nourishment, their movements lacked explosiveness, their breathing lacked endurance and most of all their cultivation remained sealed by the same Baleful Qi Eater Steel shackles wrapped around Lin Mu’s own limbs.

Without Immortal Qi, without proper food and without medicine, the years had slowly consumed them. Only a handful still possessed respectable physiques. Lin Mu immediately recognized them as body cultivators.

Even they had declined greatly.

Of course, their bodies still retained solid frames, their shoulders remained broad and their limbs still carried obvious power, and compared to ordinary immortals trapped within this prison, they certainly ranked among the strongest.

Even so they remained heavily weakened as time spared no one.

The prisoners, meanwhile, viewed the situation very differently. Their eyes remained fixed upon Lin Mu’s body. He certainly appeared larger than many newcomers having broad shoulders, well developed muscles and healthy skin.

He looked like someone who had only recently entered the Mad Demon Depths.

A healthy body merely meant more meat and seeing this several prisoners openly licked dry lips while others tightened their grip upon crude weapons.

They naturally assumed his cultivation remained sealed. They naturally assumed the hundred meter fall had injured him. They naturally assumed sheer numbers guaranteed victory. One healthy newcomer could never overcome nearly a hundred desperate prisoners.

That had likely remained true countless times before.

Unfortunately for them... This newcomer happened to be Lin Mu.

The distance rapidly disappeared as several prisoners rushed ahead of the rest. They raised sharpened bones while screaming.

HUUU

Lin Mu quietly exhaled.

Then, his right arm moved. No cultivation technique activated, no Qi surged and not even a burst of vitality was felt. His hand merely swung forward through empty air.

WHOOM!

The sound resembled a violent explosion as the compressed air erupted outward like an invisible tidal wave. The leading prisoners never even reached him. Their bodies suddenly bent backward.

Several completely lost contact with the ground and nearly twenty prisoners shot through the air simultaneously. They tumbled wildly before crashing into others farther behind as bones snapped and bodies collided.

Several slammed into the rocky slope of the mound before sliding downward among scattered skeletons. Dust exploded everywhere while the entire charge instantly collapsed into chaos.

The remaining prisoners froze.

Expressions of hunger disappeared and shock replaced them. Even the old man stared with his single remaining eye open as wide as possible. Silence briefly swallowed the battlefield.

Nobody understood what they had just witnessed.

The newcomer had never touched anyone, he had merely swung his arm. Yet twenty prisoners had flown away as though struck by an invisible mountain and now several lay motionless.

While others writhed while clutching shattered limbs.

For countless years the prisoners had welcomed newcomers exactly the same way. The newest arrival always became prey. Sometimes easy prey and sometimes difficult prey. Eventually though, every newcomer died.

That certainty had become part of life inside the Mad Demon Depths. But the man standing before them shattered that certainty.

Lin Mu slowly lowered his hand while his eyes calmly swept across the crowd. They were cold, sharp and steady, and no anger appeared within them. There was no excitement either, only quiet contempt.

Alongside disgust.

He had witnessed many criminals throughout his life. Many deserved mercy and many deserved another chance. But the people before him had abandoned even the last traces of humanity.

Cannibalism, murder and countless atrocities committed even against fellow prisoners. They no longer resembled victims struggling to survive. They had willingly embraced becoming predators.

Lin Mu’s gaze alone made several prisoners unconsciously step backward as an indescribable pressure settled over them. It felt as though an enormous beast quietly observed a herd of frightened animals.

Tiny needles seemed to crawl across the backs of their necks and cold sweat appeared upon several foreheads. One muscular prisoner instinctively lowered the bone club he carried.

The old man himself felt his breathing grow heavier, for the young man hidden behind those calm eyes did not resemble prey... He resembled death.

Nobody dared move when Lin Mu finally broke the silence. His knees bent slightly and in the next moment the stone beneath him shattered.

BOOM!

His body shot upward.

Several prisoners instinctively raised their heads and in the next instant, Lin Mu descended directly into the center of their formation.

WHOOSH

One unfortunate prisoner happened to stand beneath him and the man barely managed to lift his head. His terrified eyes met Lin Mu’s for the briefest instant. Then, there was the impact.

SPLAT!

The prisoner’s body disappeared beneath Lin Mu’s feet as every bone, every organ, and every trace of flesh was pressed and the tremendous force crushed him completely. Blood and broken remains burst outward in every direction.

The rocky ground exploded as cracks rapidly spread across the summit.

Along with that a violent shockwave erupted outward from the point of impact. The surrounding prisoners screamed as bodies flew through the air like scattered leaves and several rolled uncontrollably down the bone covered mound.

Others slammed into nearby rocks while one prisoner struck the crystal effigy before collapsing unconscious. Fragments of stone showered the battlefield as Lin Mu slowly straightened.

The cracked earth surrounded him like a spider’s web and several bones buried within the mound had broken apart from the impact. Silence returned once again before groans echoed through the cavern.
