Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 3919: The Conspiracy Begins

A savage grin appeared upon Shatter Peak’s face. "Just wait, Taegong."

"The moment Peak Head Mountain Roar hears about this..." The elder cracked his knuckles loudly. "...he’ll rip your spine out."

Without another second of hesitation... High Elder Shatter Peak abandoned the vault entirely.

The heavy stone doors exploded outward as he rushed through them. Several disciples near the outer entrance barely managed to jump aside before the furious elder shot into the sky.

BOOM!

The ground beneath his feet shattered as his vitality erupted and a brilliant crimson aura engulfed his body. The elder accelerated forward with astonishing speed and from afar he resembled a blazing meteor streaking across the heavens.

WHOOSH

A long trail of scarlet light remained behind him and every disciple working upon the Wild Peak instinctively looked upward.

"What happened?"

"That’s High Elder Shatter Peak!"

"I’ve never seen him flying this fast!"

"Who angered the High Elder?"

Many disciples simply stood frozen while watching the crimson streak tear across the sky. Some instinctively bowed while others quietly stepped aside. The elder’s overwhelming pressure washed over the entire mountain.

Even beasts hiding within nearby forests fled in panic. Yet none of them possessed even the slightest understanding of the true situation. High Elder Shatter Peak himself understood only part of it.

He believed Taegong had abused his authority and he intended to seek justice through the Peak Head. Unfortunately the conspiracy surrounding Little Bull extended far beyond one ambitious Vault Keeper.

It was far beyond the Wild Peak itself.

By the time the elder reached the Peak Head’s main hall events had already moved beyond his reach.

BOOM!

One of the massive entrance pillars exploded inward as dust erupted throughout the hall and several elders seated inside immediately stood. High Elder Shatter Peak strode through the broken entrance without slowing.

His face burned with rage and he looked directly toward the assembled elders.

"What do you mean..." His voice thundered throughout the entire hall. "...the Peak Head has left!?"

The other elders looked equally surprised by his sudden appearance while High Elder Palm Saber stepped forward.

The usually calm elder now wore a puzzled expression.

"Peak Head Mountain Roar received an urgent summons from the Core Court. He departed shortly after you disappeared." The elder looked toward the damaged entrance. "What happened to you?"

High Elder Shatter Peak’s expression immediately darkened.

"Damn it!" He slammed his fist into another stone pillar.

BOOM

The enormous column instantly collapsed as chunks of stone rolled across the floor.

"We have to contact Peak Head immediately!" The surrounding elders exchanged worried glances.

"What happened?" one asked.

"Where’s Little Bull?" another questioned.

High Elder Shatter Peak wasted no time and he quickly explained everything. How Little Bull had somehow entered the restricted vault. How Taegong immediately declared him guilty of trespassing. And how he himself attempted to intervene.

He told them how the treacherous Taegong used the vault’s authority to trap him inside and how several precious hours had been lost. The more they listened, the more shocked the gathered elders became.

"Wait..." High Elder Iron Root frowned deeply. "How did Little Bull even enter the vault?"

"That place should have been completely sealed."

"No disciple could simply wander inside."

Another elder nodded. "The formations alone should have prevented it."

High Elder Shatter Peak shook his head impatiently. "I don’t know. I’ll investigate that later. The important thing is finding Little Bull. Taegong has already taken him somewhere."

Silence settled over the hall and every elder immediately recognized the seriousness of the matter. This had already exceeded their personal authority. Only Peak Head Mountain Roar possessed enough status to directly challenge Taegong’s authority over the vault.

Even if formal procedures delayed everything... Mountain Roar’s personal prestige alone could pressure Taegong into revealing Little Bull’s whereabouts. High Elder Palm Saber immediately activated a communication jade.

The surrounding elders watched anxiously.

Several moments later... The elder’s expression suddenly changed and his face drained of color.

"...Impossible." He whispered.

Everyone immediately noticed.

"What happened?"

"Did Peak Head answer?"

"What did he say?"

High Elder Palm Saber remained frozen and his fingers still tightly gripped the communication jade. The elder slowly looked toward everyone else while his voice carried complete disbelief.

"What?" High Elder Shatter Peak stepped forward. "Where is he?"

The answer came several breaths later.

"The Peak Head..." High Elder Palm Saber swallowed. "...has already left the world."

But nobody understood.

"What do you mean?" High Elder Shatter Peak demanded.

"The teleportation array." High Elder Palm Saber answered weakly. "He already entered it. He has left this world."

Every elder present became completely stunned.

The Core Court possessed several great interworld teleportation arrays and once activated, interrupting the journey became impossible. The traveler remained isolated inside the spatial channel until reaching the destination.

High Elder Shatter Peak slowly clenched his fists. "No... This can’t be happening."

Unfortunately reality proved even worse than they imagined. Neither he nor any of the assembled elders possessed the slightest idea how deeply the conspiracy surrounding Little Bull had already spread.

Taegong merely represented one piece.

Far away the mysterious masked woman had expected her own task to consume at least a week. Convincing Peak Head Mountain Roar to personally leave the Eastern Immortal Court should have required careful planning.

It would need lengthy persuasion, and supporting evidence along with a lot of political maneuvering. Instead, everything had unfolded far beyond her expectations.

The moment Mountain Roar learned that traces of the legendary Slaughtered Moon bloodline had allegedly appeared near the borders of the Eastern Immortal Court... Every other matter immediately lost importance.

He had not hesitated and did not delay. He had personally activated the interworld teleportation array and jumped in. Even now while the elders of the Wild Peak desperately searched for him, Mountain Roar traveled through the endless spatial passage connecting distant worlds.

The journey itself would consume several months. And returning would require another journey equally long. By the time he finally came home, the fate of Little Bull would likely have been decided long before anyone could appeal to the Peak Head’s authority.
