Liam smiled. He liked the way both systems talked to him through their explanation boxes, slipping in things that had nothing to do with the rewards themselves. His car was moving at exactly 25 mph, the speed barely shifting as he followed the traffic ahead.

He wasn’t even trying to drive this smoothly; his hands and feet made every little adjustment naturally. Liam was starting to realize that he still hadn’t used his God Tier Driving Skill anywhere near its full potential. Driving around town like this was too easy to show him what it could really do.

"What kind of car is this?"

"Can’t you see? It’s a Bentley, but an SUV? Maybe it’s fake."

As the car entered campus, murmurs followed it down the road. A few students slowed their steps to look at the badge, while one pulled out his phone and pointed it toward the white SUV.

The Bentayga wasn’t actually available to the public yet. This particular one had been a show car in LA, and if Erto hadn’t ordered it, Liam wouldn’t have gotten his hands on it. People were understandably confused, their eyes moving between the familiar Bentley emblem and the unfamiliar shape of the car.

Liam didn’t care about their comments on his car. He drove straight to the parking lot, parked beside a red Prius, and got out, slipping the keys into his pocket. Clara also hopped down from the car, her white dress settling around her legs as she closed the door.

Instantly, the students nearby turned toward her, her over-the-top beauty shining on them like the sun. One boy stopped halfway through his sentence, while his friend kept walking for another step before realizing he had been left behind. Clara brushed her hair away from her face and walked around to Liam, barely noticing the attention.

As soon as she held his hand, Liam’s forehead lit up with his [Mini Sun Mark (Passive)]. A small orange sun appeared on his forehead, its faint glow making his face look even more striking.

The students who had been staring at Clara now found their eyes shifting toward him as well, a few forgetting what they were saying altogether. Liam glanced at Clara with a small smile, and the two walked across campus hand in hand like two beacons of light.

"Clara, Liam, you guys are here! Come in."

When they finally reached Liam’s room, they found Megan already inside, busy decorating after working on her own room. There was plenty of activity around the dorm, with doors standing open and people calling out to each other across the hallway.

Everyone seemed to be getting to know one another today, introducing themselves while carrying boxes and dragging suitcases past the rooms.

"Hey! I’m in 3-6, just beside you guys... I’m from New York..."

A boy around their age approached Liam, hesitating between words as his eyes briefly moved toward the girls. Still, Liam could guess he was an extrovert who had come over out of habit. He kept a friendly smile on his face, shifting the phone in his hand while waiting for a response.

"All three of us are from Los Angeles, California."

"Oh? Cool. I’m Dylan."

"Liam. She’s Clara, and that one over there is Megan... Come on in."

Liam invited Dylan into his room and stepped aside to let him pass. Megan was putting up a huge American flag on the wall, holding one corner in place while checking whether it was straight.

Clara looked around the mostly empty room with a smile, her gaze moving from the bare desk to the bed. She would get a room like this soon, and her own college life would begin as well.

"3-11."

The small room suddenly felt cramped. Liam, the old soul, wasn’t talking much, Clara was busy imagining her own college life, and Megan was still occupied with the flag. Dylan glanced between the three of them, then broke the silence by saying a room number, as if that alone was enough to start a conversation.

"3-11 what?"

Liam looked at Dylan with a smile that almost made the boy’s nose bleed. He looked so handsome that Dylan briefly forgot what he had been about to say. His eyes shifted toward Clara, then Megan, and he immediately understood what kind of room he had walked into.

This was one of those infamous rooms belonging to a ’Mr. Steal Your Girl’ type. Dylan swallowed and looked back at Liam, suddenly grateful he hadn’t brought a girlfriend along.

"Room 3-11. We’re throwing a party at seven tonight. There’ll be... girls, which I’m guessing isn’t really a selling point for you, and beer. So, yeah, stop by. All of you. That’s actually what I came over to say."

"Sure... we’ll come."

Liam nodded with a smile. In his last life, he had barely been invited to three dorm parties, all of which he had, of course, turned down. He was his family’s golden boy and had come here with the sole purpose of studying. Remembering how quickly he used to refuse such invitations, Liam almost laughed at himself.

"Sweet. Alright, invitation delivered. I’ll let you guys get back to... the flag situation. See you at seven."

Dylan had been edging toward the door throughout the conversation, taking small backward steps while trying to look casual. He gave them a quick two-finger wave, bumped his shoulder lightly against the doorframe, and immediately straightened as if nothing had happened. The moment he finished talking, he slipped into the hallway and disappeared.

"He was in a hurry."

Megan spoke around a nail held between her lips, then took it out and pressed it against the corner of the flag. She was actually nailing the thing to his wall, making Liam narrow his eyes as he watched her raise the hammer again.

He wasn’t sure how to tell her he preferred keeping things minimal. The only reason he had said he might hang a flag on his wall was to encourage her that day, but seeing how carefully she was lining it up, he opened his mouth and then quietly closed it again.

"This makes you a true American patriot."

Megan hammered in the final nail, then stepped back with a proud smile to admire her work. Clara even clapped her hands at the perfectly aligned flag, while Megan tilted her head slightly to check it one last time.

"Y... yeah."

Liam just nodded and sat on the bed, deciding to leave it at that. As he rested his hand beside him, he noticed the bedsheet was new too. He rubbed the fabric lightly between his fingers, then glanced around to see what else the girls had added.

"Did you girls buy all these things yesterday?"

"Yup... We shopped a lot."

Clara replied, then pointed at the table lamp she had bought for him. It was a small, simple thing that sat neatly in the corner of his desk, leaving plenty of room for his books and computer. The room actually looked quite minimalistic, just the way he liked it, apart from the huge American flag taking up one whole wall.
