Chapter 431 - 241: Angel Vivian

Besides, this whole auction reeked of strangeness. As the backers of the Dragon Eater Association, the Hestia Family should have undoubtedly used this opportunity to attack the venue and create a disturbance. While the Law Enforcement Organization moved in to stop them, they would then launch their assault on Traitor’s Cliff to break the Mad Dragon Seal on the other side.

But as far as Baron could tell, besides Elder Pence and the High Priest on stage disguised as the auctioneer, there were no other Dragon Eater Association cultists present.

This was true even when he pushed his Dragon Knight’s Supreme Perception to its absolute limit.

’Are they planning to use the High-Tier Blood Race’s blood in the red wine to stage an attack? Never mind how the Dragon Eater Association managed to get in league with a High-Tier Blood Race; the real question is where that High-Tier Blood Race is hiding... I’m a Blood Demon Hunter, yet I can’t sense that hidden presence either.’

’What on earth is the Dragon Eater Association planning?’

Baron looked toward Freya. Logically, her cousin from the Lion Eye Knight Order, who was supposed to be at Traitor’s Cliff, should have sent word by now. Why had it been so long without a single message? Had something really happened to him?

Freya understood the question in Baron’s eyes and replied via a Spiritual Power transmission, "Aile said he’d send someone back to tell me regardless of the situation, but judging by the time, it’s too early for them to have made it back so quickly."

The bidding in the hall kept climbing, and with increments of no less than half a million pounds, the price soon officially broke the sixty-million-pound mark.

Sixty million pounds. That was an undeniable fortune, not just in Britain, but anywhere in the world—and the auction even demanded payment in cash.

Most Old Blood Clans couldn’t afford such a massive cash outlay, which was why some of the earlier bidders had already chosen to fold.

The prospect of creating a new race and becoming its God was incredibly alluring, but they weren’t about to risk financial ruin over a girl who, for now, was nothing more than a blueprint for the future—no matter how captivating that blueprint was.

As for those still bidding, they were, without exception, powerful buyers from families with deep pockets and formidable influence.

"They’re all Demon Hunter Clans... It seems they’ve figured it out, too," Gold of the Walter Family said coldly.

"Figured out what?" Zick turned to look at the senior member of the Demon Hunter Association.

It wasn’t Gold who answered, but Kesha beside him. "Since the girl is a Perfect Defilement, it means she can no longer be considered human. You could say she’s now in the same category as magical creatures like mermaids and centaurs. And some rare Magic Potions just so happen to require those kinds of creatures."

It dawned on Zick. "This Angel could very well be an ingredient for a new Magic Potion formula. And if she’s used to create an entire race, then the Demon Hunter Clan that owns her would have an unbreakable monopoly on that ingredient!"

A complete monopoly on a Magic Potion ingredient—that was a truly tempting prospect.

"Ice Fruit!" Kesha said, blinking. This woman was also of the Fairy Level. A simple blink from her, combined with her enchanting appearance, gave her an unexpectedly girlish air. Her deep purple eyes were especially captivating, bottomless as a maelstrom at sea; one could only wonder what sights awaited in their depths.

Zick, who had previously been so competitive with Aile, instantly blushed. He felt his head grow dizzy, as if he were drunk. It felt as if his heart had skipped a beat, and the whole world had gone silent, leaving only the chattering of the buyers in the hall as they raised their paddles and increased their bids.

Dewey said irritably, "Miss Kesha, please stop using your powers to bewitch Zick. He’s not even eighteen yet."

Kesha smiled. "I just wanted to tease your cousin a little. After all, isn’t facing temptation part of the journey to becoming a Demon Hunter?"

The misty, sea-like haze in her deep purple eyes instantly cleared, and they became bright again.

This was her ability as a Beast Hunter—Medusa’s Eye.

Zick instantly snapped out of it, realizing he had been under the effect of her power. But as he looked at her stunning side profile, he was speechless for a long moment before finally managing to say:

"I just turned eighteen this year."

He stole a glance at her violet, butterfly-like eyes and was suddenly reminded of the Dragon Knight from the news. Legend had it that all Dragon Knights possessed a pair of brilliant Golden Eyes; he wondered if they were as brilliant as hers.

Overhearing the conversation behind him, Baron began to formulate a new plan.

But after thinking long and hard, he realized there was no other option beyond one simple word: snatch.

’Given the price, a simple theft is out of the question; security will be too tight. Besides, the Holding Ring isn’t good for holding living creatures, so I can’t just ’hold’ her in the ring and make a run for it like I did with those Taboo Items.’

’The second option is to buy her. But I was so proud of being a millionaire, and in this auction, I’m just a statistic. A single bid would wipe me out. So that’s not happening.’

’In that case, only one option remains: snatch.’

’But... is it worth it? Just for a little girl I’ve only met a few times? To take such a huge risk to save her!?’

’Forget it,’ he told himself. ’Just forget it. My main mission right now is to tell the Dragon Witch—who might be here—that this is all a scam. Then, when the Dragon Eater Association attacks the auction, I’ll use the chaos to kidnap Elder Pence, expose the truth to the world, and then scatter his ashes to the four winds.’
