When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase
Chapter 1149: Zhou Chengchen’s Rebellious PastZhou Chengchen smiled and walked into the group of people, speaking up: "Isn’t it the holiday? Haven’t been here for a while, of course I wanted to come by and take a look."
Someone brought her a chair, and Zhou Chengchen sat down without hesitation, then looked at the person opposite: "Sister Lan, how’s business?"
The woman sitting across from her had a cigarette in her mouth, her face heavily made up, not exactly beautiful, but with an alluring figure and striking wine-red long curly hair.
Her cigarette was just lit, but seeing Zhou Chengchen come in, the one called "Sister Lan" decisively extinguished it: "Not bad."
Sitting on Zhou Chengchen’s right was a sweet-looking girl, seemingly out of place in a bar. Her long black straight hair was tied in a ponytail, dressed in a simple and clean white turtleneck sweater and jeans.
Zhou Chengchen glanced at her, pulled her up to compare their heights, then spoke: "Wow, how did you grow so much taller in just half a year?"
Xu Xinxia smiled sweetly: "I’ve been eating a lot."
Everyone was well-acquainted, and they quickly caught up with each other. Approaching noon, Sister Lan boldly booked a private room in a nearby restaurant and invited everyone for lunch.
After coming out of the restaurant, Sister Lan took one person back to the bar, leaving Zhou Chengchen, Xu Xinxia, and Brother Zhou to go shopping.
"How have you been? Is everything okay at the new school?"
Zhou Chengchen nodded: "Pretty good, Little Rou’er is in the same class as me."
"That’s nice, sigh, we’re completely disconnected from school."
Xu Xinxia sighed, her sweet smile unwavering, while Brother Zhou followed behind them, head down and silent, just quietly accompanying them.
They hadn’t seen each other for over half a year since Zhou Chengchen started high school. Now reunited, there wasn’t a hint of awkwardness. Zhou Chengchen and Xu Xinxia bought things, and Brother Zhou would quietly take them and carry their bags.
Talking about how these three met and became close is like a rebellious youth novel.
Xu Xinxia and Zhou Chengchen met in seventh grade. Back then, she was a bit chubby, very introverted, often bullied. Naturally, Zhou Chengchen never paid much attention to her until, somehow, they crossed paths.
Later, it became clear that Xu Xinxia’s background was complicated. Her father was a company president, fairly wealthy, but her mother was a mistress who disappeared after giving birth to her.
Her father, to some degree, had a conscience and didn’t abandon her. But as expected, the identity of a mistress, the identity of an illegitimate daughter, Xu Xinxia’s life was as difficult as could be. And in middle school, she was even in the same school as the daughter of the lawful wife, being bullied horribly.
That’s when Zhou Chengchen entered her life.
Zhou Chengchen was always protective, and Xu Xinxia’s incredibly timid nature meant she would endure whatever bullying came her way.
Those bullies were extreme, sometimes throwing her into empty trash bins, closing the lid, weighing it down with heavy objects, or tearing her homework and textbooks to shreds.
Physical bullying was a regular occurrence.
Even when Zhou Chengchen wasn’t familiar with her, but as they got closer, there was no way she’d let Xu Xinxia be bullied like that.
So, when they bullied her, Zhou Chengchen struck back fiercely on her behalf.
