When Love Turns the Tables: The Mysterious Husband's Chase

Zhou Chengchen was carrying three big bags of items, wearing a hat, a bit out of breath, but her smile was exceptionally bright.

"Happy New Year," she blurted out, leaving Xi Siyan stunned, while Zhou Chengchen’s smile grew even more radiant.

The two of them stood at the door gazing at each other for a full three minutes, Xi Siyan’s always rational and clear mind only now seemed to suddenly snap back to reality.

"Why did you come?"

"To celebrate the New Year," she replied.

As Zhou Chengchen spoke, she lifted the three large bags with a sense of pride. Of course, Xi Siyan immediately took them over. At the moment he accepted them, his brows furrowed again.

The three bags were very heavy; how did she manage to carry them over?

It was food, all of it.

Most of them were big dishes that only appeared in New Year’s Eve meals across families.

Zhou Chengchen had already taken off her coat and started unpacking the items inside. "They’re a bit cold, shall we heat them up?"

The kitchen in Xi’s home was really small; the two of them were bumping into each other with every turn. Xi wanted her to sit outside, but hearing her chirping away beside him, he swallowed the words back down again.

Today’s New Year’s Eve, there was constant firecracker noise outside, and he could even hear quite a few people exchanging New Year greetings.

Yet, he never really felt like celebrating the New Year, except for when Mrs. An gave him a bunch of stuff earlier, which sparked a little interest.

But now, listening to Zhou chirping beside him, Xi suddenly felt that this truly was the New Year.

Zhou Chengchen brought a lot of stuff. They used the steamer, microwave, wok, clattering away, and just reheating those dishes took more than half an hour.

All of the bowls and plates in Xi Siyan’s home were used and still were not enough, so they finally had to make do with the containers Zhou Chengchen initially used for the items.

There wasn’t a table big enough, so they spread the newspaper on the ground and took pillows to use as cushions, sitting on the floor like this.

It’s safe to say it was not only Zhou Chengchen’s but also Xi Siyan’s most... most indescribable New Year’s Eve dinner.

But Zhou Chengchen was very happy, and Xi Siyan? Happy seemed insufficient to describe his current mood.

"Oh, there’s wine too."

Zhou eagerly brought out the red wine she had brought. "Are there any cups?"

"Wine?"

Xi Siyan frowned slightly.

"It’s New Year’s, just a little to enhance the atmosphere."

Xi stood up and fetched two very ordinary ceramic cups. They weren’t as classy as wine glasses, but Zhou didn’t mind, simply opened the bottle, and poured the wine.
