System 3: "Well, when it’s time to settle the mission rewards, I want to see the look on her face."

System 5678 and the others chimed in, "Same! Same!"

Seeing the conversation go off-topic again, the Cleaner Fish System had to pull it back on track. "We’re talking about the mission reward. Stop getting sidetracked."

As the strongest and most rational one here, the Cleaner Fish System felt its job was just too hard.

It steered the conversation back on track, and everyone began discussing what extra reward to give Tan You this time. The Beauty System, more experienced now, spoke up immediately about Intelligence Value. "My host wants Intelligence Value the most. She doesn’t want anything else."

A system suddenly spoke up. "I heard your host is very nearsighted. I have an item here that can slowly improve her vision..."

The Beauty System fidgeted a little but stuck to its guns. "My host only wants Intelligence Value."

’Don’t think you can fool me just because I’m small. With more Intelligence Value, my host’s mind will expand. She’ll be able to develop that kind of eye drop herself someday, and then everyone can benefit.’

’But a small item would only benefit my host. She doesn’t usually say it, but I know she has the well-being of the world at heart.’

’Besides, Intelligence Value is much more expensive than some item, and it would be hard to explain where the item came from...’ Thinking of this, the Beauty System stated again, resolutely, "My host only likes Intelligence Value."

Unable to get the Beauty System to budge, the other systems couldn’t help but sigh. Some systems might seem silly, but it was precisely this silliness that made them stubborn—what one would call having a one-track mind.

The high-level systems discussed for a long time before finally settling on Tan You’s reward.

"Although she established a new dynasty and its monarch is governing diligently, a feudal dynasty’s reign is ultimately finite."

The Beauty System argued its case. "But my host went to sea and found high-yield crops like sweet potatoes, potatoes, and corn! She also found Champa rice and brought many advanced technologies to that world."

The systems began to argue again. The Beauty System was no longer lazing about. Its host’s interests were at stake, so it had to fight hard for them. Otherwise, how could it justify all the Energy Points its host had fed it?

Besides, fighting for its host now was, in a way, helping itself. The stronger its host became, the more benefits it would receive in the future!

Tan You had no idea that the Beauty System was fighting tooth and nail for her interests. It felt like in just an instant, the little system that had been floating motionlessly in the void, legs kicking, suddenly came to life.

"Host, Host, settle the mission!" The Beauty System panted, its tongue hanging out. PANT, PANT. Even though it couldn’t feel heat or cold, it stuck out its little tongue to match the mood.

A thought stirred in Tan You’s mind, and she readily complied. "Settle the mission."

An electronic voice soon sounded: "Congratulations, Host, on completing the third intermediate mission. Mission rating: 3S. You have received 25 base Energy Points. For a rating of A or higher, you receive an additional reward. System reward: 6 Energy Points."

"The client, Mrs. Wang, has given a D-level rating. No additional reward."

"Total Energy Points earned: 31. Host’s available Energy Point balance: 72."

Tan You’s eyebrows raised slightly, and then she chuckled. ’A D-level rating, huh? That’s the lowest client rating I’ve ever received.’ But Tan You didn’t mind. What she cared about most was the main system’s mission reward.

The Beauty System bounced in front of Tan You and waved its little paws. The lottery system appeared behind it. Its big tail spun like a propeller. "Host, lottery, lottery!"

Seeing it act this way, Tan You knew it had gotten something good. Her heart couldn’t help but beat a little faster. She quickly chided herself. ’When faced with huge benefits, I really am just a common person after all.’

’So how big of a reward did the Beauty System manage to get for me this time?’ She didn’t ask, deciding it was better to just see the result.

So, Tan You agreed to the lottery without hesitation. As the prize wheel spun rapidly, she narrowed her eyes. No matter how many times she saw it, she could never get used to the sight; it always made her eyes ache.

The lottery screen soon stopped. Tan You fell silent as she looked at the "20 Beauty Value points" she had won. Then she looked at the newly refreshed lottery slot: Intelligence Value x5.

’I toiled away for so many years, so why did I only get 5 points of Intelligence Value? Compared to the Western Fantasy Continent, this extra reward is far too small.’

But on second thought, Tan You could vaguely understand why. How many feudal dynasties could truly last for a thousand years? Later rulers would always rise to overthrow them. It was the grand trend of history, which no one could stop.

She stared at the 5 points of Intelligence Value and suddenly smiled. "It’s not that we can’t burn through the Energy Points, but you have to leave me with a little kindling. I have no intention of ending up with a big fat zero."

She originally had 72 Energy Points. The lottery just now cost 8, leaving her with 64—enough for eight more draws. But Tan You was unwilling to do that. She had never scored a zero on a test in her life, and she certainly wasn’t happy about ending up with a zero now.

The Beauty System was delighted. "Okay! I promise I won’t squander all of them."

’So you do know you’re squandering my Energy Points?’ Tan You thought. But she didn’t say it out loud. This little system really was a good helper; it had fought for her interests this time.

Having gotten Tan You’s approval, the Beauty System showed no mercy. Just as Tan You’s Energy Points dropped from a double-digit number to a single digit, the Intelligence Value she had been longing for was finally hers.

"Nngh..." The moment the Intelligence Value entered her, Tan You felt a sharp, needle-like pain in her head. But compared to the last time her mind was expanded, this was only moderately painful. In less than five minutes, Tan You had endured the wave of agony.

She slumped over her desk, large beads of sweat covering her forehead. Right now, she had the look of a frail beauty.

She casually grabbed a nearby towel to wipe the sweat from her temples, then leaned back in her chair, relaxing. "That feels really good."

The Beauty System bounced in front of Tan You. "Host, when the main system asked me what you wanted most, I still said Intelligence Value."

Tan You could tell there was more to the story. She smiled. "And then? They didn’t want to give me Intelligence Value?"

"Mhmm. Some scheming system wanted to substitute an item to restore your vision for the Intelligence Value, but I refused." The Beauty System looked at Tan You. "Host... you’re not mad, are you?"

Tan You’s expression didn’t change at all. "Of course you didn’t do anything wrong, little system. Among all the mission rewards, Intelligence Value is the most precious. If we’re going to take something, we take the best. Besides, what’s the use of an item that only I can use?"

"Once my Intelligence Value is high enough, we can create good things with our own power. That’s how we can benefit the majority of people."

The Beauty System leaped onto Tan You’s shoulder. "I knew you were the best, Host! Host, the main system knows you can collect knockoff systems... It’s asking if you’re interested in becoming a member of the Cleaner Fish group."
