Who Brought Him into the Cultivation World?
Chapter 831 - 774: Wise Elder Explains the RulesThe little sword spirit, now brimming with power, seemed to have inexplicably grown in size. The most amusing part was that the scabbard finally stopped falling off.
This made it extremely happy.
The scabbard was like its pants; it constantly falling felt incredibly embarrassing.
Recalling the promise Han Yu made, the little sword spirit spoke in a childish voice.
"Seeing as you’re being so kind, I’ll give you a hint."
Upon hearing about the hint, Han Yu didn’t feel the slightest bit happy; in fact, it even gave him a headache.
Damn it, everyone keeps saying they’re giving hints, yet when you get in, it’s a different story.
Should he listen?
Listen! Why not?
Han Yu openly showed his willingness to listen, which satisfied the little sword spirit, who then spoke slowly.
"Run faster!"
What?
What do you mean?
Han Yu was genuinely baffled by what this guy said. Wasn’t there supposed to be a hint, and he got sent off with just these three words?
You spirit bodies, can you be a bit more reliable?
As Han Yu mused to himself, the little sword spirit transformed into a ray of light that flew straight towards Han Yu’s forehead. The scabbard gently touched the Sea of Consciousness, and a mysterious power quickly enveloped Han Yu.
He only felt himself become light as a feather, and then... nothing.
Mo Xiuwen, being quite familiar with the process, found a spot to place Han Yu comfortably, and then simply waited patiently.
Su Xiaoxiao, having never witnessed a Divine Power User breakthrough before, was left somewhat astonished.
"Central Continent doesn’t seem strong, yet its various methods are truly bizarre."
This type was something he had never seen before, and Divine Power Users could not emerge in small worlds; he wondered why.
Meanwhile, Chen Xixi somehow ended up running over to the little sword spirit that was clinging to the scabbard again, managing to force a friendly smile.
"Hey little guy, how about you give my forehead a tap too?"
The little sword spirit, perhaps instinctively sensing the difference in aura, stared blankly at Chen Xixi for a moment before suddenly bursting into tears.
"So scary..."
"Damn! So damn scary!"
Han Yu was similarly startled, causing the wise elder across from him to become quite angry.
How could it not be scary?
The last time in the Earth Spirit’s trial, the wise elder’s assistance, though significant, had left Han Yu with a considerable shadow as well.
If this time, the elder was involved again, Han Yu suspected he might be played with before being allowed to pass.
"Can’t you take a look at where you are first?"
The wise elder spoke irritably, making Han Yu realize that this was the small village from that previous trial!
How did he end up here?
The elder first shot him a glare and then said displeased, "It’s been a while, and since you’ve ended up being sent back, I figured I’d open a little backdoor and let you come visit a bit."
Han Yu returned the glare, muttering, "I’m here to pass the trial, not for a visit. Hurry up and let me go."
With a quirky smile, the wise elder grinned at him, "Are you sure?"
Then, raising his head to point at the small village, he continued, "This is outside the trial grounds. If not for the favor of beings towards you, you wouldn’t have been able to come here."
A lightbulb went off in Han Yu’s head, and he quickly grabbed onto the wise elder, looking at him expectantly.
"Is there a chance you could help me cheat my way through the trial?"
The wise elder almost choked, staring at him as if he’d seen a ghost.
He then shook his head vigorously, "They really must be blind."
Han Yu didn’t care about that, persistently pressing, "Can you or can’t you, just one word."
"Yes!"
Unexpectedly, the wise elder nodded, quite decisively.
Han Yu nearly jumped for joy, but the elder’s next words were like a bucket of cold water pouring over him.
The wise elder chuckled coldly and said, "I’d take you up there again, and you’d have to ask beings directly yourself."
Say what?
Asking to cheat in front of them?
Han Yu couldn’t help but feel a chill down his spine; if there were fewer beings, he might brazenly do so.
But damn, in the Soul Realm, who knows how many beings there are, and to do something like that under all their watchful eyes.
"Alas! My cultivation is still low; I can’t thicken my skin enough."
Han Yu sighed wistfully, lamenting the lack of courage needed for such actions.
"Can you listen to me seriously now?"
The wise elder shot him another look and, after finding a place to sit, somehow pulled out a handful of nuts.
Han Yu thought to himself, "Even dead spirits can still eat?"
"Why not? Here, we are all beings." The wise elder said, seemingly able to hear Han Yu’s inner voice, baring his teeth as he spoke.
Han Yu accepted the elder’s gesture, reluctantly sitting down, and then curiously asked.
"So what exactly did you bring me here for?"
He believed that the wise elder must have intercepted him for a reason.
"You’re not entirely clueless!"
The wise elder grinned and then placed a finger on Han Yu’s forehead.
As he completed this action, Han Yu still hadn’t comprehended what was occurring until afterward when the elder nonchalantly withdrew his hand.
Whatever the elder had done, Han Yu couldn’t discern it!
"Wait, what exactly did you do? You’re not trying to harm me, are you?"
Han Yu skeptically sized up the wise elder, attempting to gauge his intentions.
The result was that he got hit on the back of the head, the wise elder jokingly scolded, "If I wanted to harm you, why would I bring you here?"
Amidst Han Yu’s bewilderment, the elder eventually provided him with the answer he sought.
"This is simply a means to communicate with the Soul Realm or, in other words, a life-preserving tool."
"With this, no one can manipulate your soul."
Han Yu felt that it wasn’t anything particularly useful; the people capable of killing him wouldn’t allow his soul to escape.
And those who couldn’t kill him... well, they wouldn’t live to tell the tale, and no one could manipulate his soul.
The wise elder merely smiled, giving him a meaningful look.
Moments later, he spoke again, "Do you have any more questions?"
Speaking of which, Han Yu did have a question, and this time he was quite serious.
He asked solemnly, "After I deal with the Golden Spirit, I’ll still have the Water Spirit left. Can I bypass the Water Spirit trial by going through the Soul Realm?"
He had somewhat deciphered the rules here. All trials took place in the Soul Realm, so ordinarily, if he entered the Soul Realm, shouldn’t he be able to bypass the Water Spirit and pass its trial too?
If possible, he really wanted to settle it once and for all.
He thought of this idea not long ago and nearly slapped his thighs to pieces over it. If he had come up with this earlier, he could have settled the Earth Spirit trial in one fell swoop!
After a brief pause, the wise elder calmly spoke, "In theory, yes!"
Having grown familiar with the elder’s mannerisms, Han Yu lost interest in hearing the rest because he understood that the phrase "in theory" essentially meant no.
"But have you considered that if you break the rules, then what purpose will the Spirit of the Five Elements serve?"
"Rules are rules, even if set by the Heavenly Dao; it must adhere to them."
Han Yu smirked, a bit skeptical, "According to you, if I break the rules, the Water Spirit wouldn’t need to exist anymore, right?"
"If you’re interested, you could ask the beings to find where the Water Spirit’s trial ground is. In the Soul Realm, their capabilities can help you achieve that."
The wise elder looked at him with a smile, once again leaving the decision in Han Yu’s hands, much like last time.
Damn it, back to these antics!
Han Yu really felt like swearing, frustrated by the moral entrapment presented.
"I always feel like you’re up to no good, egging me on."
Han Yu shook his head in exasperation; it was definitely a pitfall he would avoid stepping into.
It’s surely not only the Water Spirit lacking purpose, right?
"Breaking the rules can weaken the Heavenly Dao, potentially leading to its collapse."
With a grave expression, the wise elder spoke in a measured tone, his gaze filled with gravity as he looked at Han Yu.
Han Yu frowned, knowing the elder was up to no good.
"Anything else you wish to ask?"
Once more, the wise elder posed the question.
This time, Han Yu had no more questions; he’d found the Golden Spirit. According to the rules of mutual generation among the Five Elements, if the Golden Spirit was willing to help, the Water Spirit might not be impossible to locate by itself.
"If you have no questions, then I do have one for you."
