Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?

Chapter 1583 - 961: Final Battle at the Chaos Breeding Ground_2

The originally cylindrical battlefield had actually been burned and melted into a circular track of destruction by that ring of extreme heat, and the marks left on the scene looked especially terrifying.

The amazing thing was that the tentacles of the Chaos Breeding Ground scattered all over the battlefield, as well as those bricks they were holding up, had actually not been affected; they were exactly the same as they had been before the white light burst forth.

As for the warriors who had originally been standing on top of them...

"I–I’m still alive?"

A warrior who had been driven back to the very edge and had no choice but to cling to the rock wall let out a voice of astonishment.

As soon as those words left his mouth, the responses of the others came one after another.

"I’m alive too!" "I’m fine." "I-I-I need healing, it hurts so bad!" "My hand’s gone!"

It didn’t look like everyone had come through unscathed, but the voices rising one after another shattered the silence that had followed the scorching heat, making this place brim with Life again.

"Nice, this Big Move works!"

Temude, drenched in sweat to the point he was almost a man of water, panted heavily as he let out a joyful shout.

They’d done it. The three methods they’d prepared and stacked together had successfully resisted the Chaos Breeding Ground’s high-temperature Big Move.

They’d only lost three people!

The Full Moon Magic had dispelled not only the heat it directly touched, but had also absorbed and nullified the temperatures that kept surging in from all around trying to fill that gap, greatly lowering the heat everyone had to face head-on.

The moment when the high temperature first erupted was the most terrifying, and the Protective Shield formed by the Vitalizing Fragrance’s medicinal powder had helped them block the vast majority of the damage in that single most Horrific instant. After that, everyone unleashed their own ultimate moves, then used their bodies transformed by Silver Tears to withstand the heat, achieving an ultra-perfect record of only three casualties!

Though to be honest, everyone’s current appearance was not exactly pleasant to look at.

All the transformations achieved through the remaining Silver Tears had been destroyed; the high temperature had, in the end, inevitably acted directly on their bodies. The burn areas on each person varied in size and severity, and some had even directly lost limbs and could no longer wield their weapons.

Temude swept his gaze around. It was fine. They could still hold on.

"Ku—"

The massive body of the Chaos Breeding Ground suddenly shuddered violently. The tentacles that had gathered together collapsed and drooped as if drained of Strength, and the bricks beneath everyone’s feet quickly began to sink. Sure enough, after unleashing such a devastating move, it couldn’t help but show signs of exhaustion.

The warriors knew this wasn’t the Chaos Breeding Ground’s weakest state, but it was still enough to count as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"Now’s the time, full assault!"

He swung the Shattered Star Greatsword at the Chaos Breeding Ground, his target aimed straight at the core Flame!

"Don’t need you to tell me that!"

Lanle’s figure was the first to cut across everyone’s vision. He hefted a Tachi longer than he was tall and charged toward the Chaos Breeding Ground, his unstoppable momentum cloaking his entire body; you’d never guess that he’d once been a Magician.

And the stance he took as he rushed in... it was that move, without a doubt!

"Cover me!" With his shout, the other warriors actively synchronized with his offensive tempo and launched their own attacks on the Chaos Breeding Ground.

Three warriors wielding Heavy Crossbows set up their Crossbow Tubes on the high platform. The dull thuds of Penetration Bullets leaving the barrel almost blended into one continuous sound. Different attribute rounds slammed into the densest cluster of tentacles and actually reacted together to create a powerful effect; the blast ripped that whole patch of tentacles to shreds, successfully opening a path forward for Lanle.

They wanted to get closer to the Chaos Breeding Ground for more concentrated, satisfying bursts of fire, but moving around on this kind of terrain was just too awkward; they could only carry Hook Locks with them, fire a few shots, then switch positions.

With their fire support, Lanle was unobstructed for a time, charging straight toward the core Flame.

He wasn’t the only one charging among those present.

Temude hoisted the Shattered Star Greatsword and rushed in, using Gravity Magic to forcibly gather the shattered bricks around him in front of him, forming a narrow path. From the side where the tentacles were thickest he launched his assault. Running alongside him were a warrior whirling Dual Blades into Flashes of light, and another using an Insect Control Stick to pull off fancy moves and dive-bomb from the sky. For a moment, the scene looked like an all-out offensive straight out of a hot-blooded anime.

They weaved between the Chaos Breeding Ground’s wildly lashing tentacles. The warriors’ hunting insects collided first with the weak points of the tentacles, leaving marks; the Insect Stick followed up by cutting into the exact same spots. Once those tentacles were severed, they immediately lost their aim and veered off, whipping other tentacles in the opposite direction.

"This is it!"

Lanle suddenly let out a roar to Defeat the enemy; he had now all but closed in on the core Flame.

There was a dense mass of tentacles guarding the core Flame; ordinary attacks probably wouldn’t be enough to smash through them, and the tentacles around the Flame were gradually regaining vigor, beginning to thrash wildly again. If Lanle failed to land the hit in one blow, he’d likely be swatted away in an instant.

But he believed in himself. He believed he could definitely succeed.

As if the Gods themselves were smiling upon him, right as the Tachi in his hands took its stance and he drew infinitely close to the core Flame, a tentacle guarding the core Flame drew back from that spot, then swept toward him with lightning speed. This move was in no way slower than a Golden Lion King Eight Fists with no wind-up.

"Too slow!"

Lanle’s hands moved even faster, leaving residual shadow; people almost couldn’t see what he did at all. They only saw that in the next instant, he suddenly leaped high into the air.

It was Dragon Ascension! He’d used the tentacle’s Strength to pull off a Dragon Ascension!

"So good!"

At the moment his body rose high into the air, a feeling of total clarity in body and mind coursed through Lanle; there was nothing in the world more exhilarating than jumping with Dragon Ascension. And if there was, it could only be the final step of Dragon Ascension succeeding.

Battlelust flared in his eyes as he poured all his Strength into driving the Tachi down toward the core Flame below.

If he’d known, he’d have had someone record his heroic form in battle; this move would definitely look awesome!

The thought made him can’t help but show a slight smile.

But at that moment he noticed Temude’s gaze as the man rushed over. That was a look filled with pity. Wait a second, why was he looking at me like that?

"Smack!"

The next instant, a tentacle swept in from the side and struck Lanle’s Dragon Ascension halfway through, sending him flying sideways. With his Dragon Ascension interrupted, he lost the ability to maintain his balance.

"No!"

His heart-wrenching howl echoed across the field.

Now that felt right.

There’s no such thing as a Dragon Ascension that actually succeeds for a Tachi Hero.

Even Temude couldn’t help but offer Lanle a second of silent mourning. Even someone like him who had never used a Tachi knew that Dragon Ascension was supposed to be the finishing move that declared victory, not the horn that signaled a charge. Clearly, Lanle’s timing was off.

Because the Chaos Breeding Ground had already recovered; its recovery speed was beyond anyone’s imagination.

Temude only had time to hurl a Meteor at the core Flame. Seeing the Meteor fail to smash through the tentacle shield, he could only retreat helplessly, because by then, the Chaos Breeding Ground’s whole body was swelling with pus-filled blisters of all sizes, and a vile, chaotic aura was rapidly breeding within them.

Demons—the Chaos Breeding Ground was about to hatch her Demon army.

What should they do now?

One grotesque Demon head after another burst from the Breeding Ground, roaring madly at the warriors on the field. The atmosphere of the battlefield slid straight toward the Abyss.

Risk it all in a fight to the death? Or pull back here and now?

Temude couldn’t help but furrow his brow—yet just then,

A cluster of golden light suddenly slipped into the corner of his eye, and he couldn’t help but look toward its source.

Not far away, a glittering golden Summoning Symbol was slowly emerging.

[Summon Assistant "Sun Warrior" Solar of Astara?]
