Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)
Chapter 1180 — Breaking Attack and Defense"Falcon's effect, 500 damage!"
The departed Falcon's ghost flared above the Librarian, spreading its wings and diving toward Kira, striking head-on at his Duel Runner.
[Kira, LP 4000 → LP 3500]
"Then I set two cards face-down and end my turn."
It was a textbook open. Synchro the Librarian on turn one to tee up later plays, burn for chip damage, and shield himself with a twin backrow — offense and defense perfectly balanced.
He'd left no opening.
Come, King of the Other World.
Antinomy's heart burned. He might be a Savios from the future, but above all — a duelist. Facing a mighty opponent, especially one who represented the pinnacle of another dimension, set his soul aflame.
Let me see what it means to duel as a King!
Kira:
"My turn, draw."
Speed Counters: 2.
Kira glanced at his hand, barely hesitating, then selected three cards in quick succession.
"I set three cards face-down and end my turn."
Three cards appeared before him — center, left, and right — flashed into view, then vanished.
Antinomy was stunned.
End turn?
Did he hear wrong?
No monsters, no development, not even a hint at offense.
Is this how Kings duel in your world?
He didn't say it aloud, but if he had, Kira would have agreed:
Yeah, that's how it is. Problem?
Not just me — like I said, there's someone above me in my dimension, and he might do the exact same thing: set three and pass. It's the culture.
Despite his doubts, Antinomy continued.
"My turn, draw!"
He glanced at Kira's backrow.
Three sets — maybe he just bricked and drew no monsters for plays?
He suppressed the thought immediately.
No, at this level, "bricking" isn't an issue. Z-ONE already said the man was a true King, and had gone further than Antinomy himself on the path of Duel Kings. For someone at this level, "dead hands" simply don't happen.
In other words, those three face-downs were definitely part of a trap.
"But that won't stop me from attacking head-on!"
"I activate Speed Spell — 'Angel Baton!'
I can only activate this with two or more Speed Counters. Draw two cards, then discard a card."
Antinomy drew, then pitched one to the Graveyard.
At that very moment, Kira's side responded:
"I activate my face-down — Continuous Trap, 'Appropriate!'
Whenever my opponent draws outside the Draw Phase, I can activate this card; after that, whenever they draw outside the Draw Phase, I draw two cards."
Appropriate, of course, was a card designed to capitalize on opponents' mass draws. Since his foe played Tech Genus, this card was a perfect counter to "T.G. Hyper Librarian." If Antinomy tried to use Librarian as an engine, Kira would outdraw him two-to-one every time.
Antinomy pressed on.
"From my hand, I summon 'TG Rush Rhino'!"
A new TG monster appeared — an upright, burly rhino in iron armor, crimson horn flashing, hooves stomping the track so hard it looked ready to crack.
[TG Rush Rhino, ATK 1600]
"Entrusting all your defense to traps? Let me see what kind of traps you've got waiting for me!"
Antinomy's Delta Eagle performed a bizarre acrobatic flip, riding the track backward while still maintaining full speed.
Kira always wondered how the Duel Runnerers in the anime pulled off such physics-defying maneuvers — flipping and reversing without losing speed. It must be some perpetual motion black-tech in the Duel Runners.
"T.G. Hyper Librarian!" Antinomy shouted. "Attack King — Kira, directly!"
The Librarian closed his book with a snap, leapt high, and charged directly for Kira's rushing Duel Runner.
Kira laughed.
"Knowing I have traps, yet choosing to attack head-on — so that's the spirit of a top Duel Runnerer of the future, huh?"
He snapped his fingers.
"Very well. As you wish.
I activate my face-down: Trap Card 'Widespread Ruin!'
When your monster declares an attack, destroy your highest-ATK monster on the field!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Before the Librarian could reach him, a series of explosions erupted along the track — landmines detonating in chain reactions. Hyper Librarian staggered under fire, teetering on the edge of being destroyed.
"You want to destroy my Synchro monster? Not so easy!"
Antinomy revealed a set card.
"I activate Trap Card: 'Guard Mines!'
When a card effect would destroy one of my monsters, negate and destroy that card instead, then inflict 500 damage to you!"
A barrage of round, black bombs formed a barricade before the Librarian. Explosions from both sides clashed, shockwaves resounding as bomb and mine collided.
"You came prepared, not just attacking blind."
Kira nodded.
"But I'm not done yet.
I activate my face-down: Counter Trap 'Trap Jammer!'"
Antinomy's face hardened.
"What?"
Kira explained:
"Trap Jammer can only be activated in the Battle Phase. It negates all other Trap effects that have been activated this Battle Phase and destroys them!"
A massive six-pointed star flashed beneath the field, pulling all those round black bombs into its vortex, grinding them to golden dust.
"Guard Mines is negated, so my Widespread Ruin's effect resolves."
"T.G. Hyper Librarian is destroyed!"
Reverse and reverse and reverse again!
