Who Says I'm Not a Proper Adventurer?

Chapter 115: Specialty: Red Dragon Transformation

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Specialty: Red Dragon Transformation

He bid Flora farewell.

Lance returned to his quiet home alone to begin his nightly training.

He began with some simple stretches in the center of his yard to warm up.

As he stretched his limbs, he took the opportunity to glance at the skill progression pulsating on his retina.

[Dragon Hunting Breathing Combat Technique Level 3 (916/1000)]

He had only gained about seventy proficiency points by keeping it at a low-intensity, constant state during the day. The rest of the progress had all been accumulated from high-intensity combat with Demons.

’Real combat truly is the best teacher.’

Lance made a quick mental calculation.

’At this rate, it should only take a little over an hour of training tonight to grind out these last few dozen points.’

He expertly strapped the weights to his wrists and ankles.

Then, he put on the special vest filled with metal bars and performed a few simple warm-up sets, stretching out his tense muscles.

Having completed these additional weighted preparations, Lance had his muscles thoroughly loosened up.

He then carefully took out the small glass vial he had purchased from Flora.

Lance popped the cork with his thumb, tilted his head back, and poured the dark red Gel directly into his mouth.

The Gel melted the instant it touched the tip of his tongue.

He immediately felt a searing heat slide down his esophagus and into his abdomen, where it exploded without warning.

The terrifying, burning sensation was no less intense than swallowing a mouthful of molten lava.

The pain made Lance clench his jaw, and large beads of sweat instantly formed on his forehead.

The wildly burning Ether Energy within him now seemed to be tinged with a blinding crimson light.

Driven by the powerful Dragon Hunting Breathing Combat Technique, strange red patterns abruptly surfaced on his bare torso.

Like living things, these peculiar patterns dimmed and brightened with the rise and fall of his chest.

Lance felt as if every pore on his body was venting a scorching stream of heat.

He recalled his knowledge of Demons.

’Earth Dragons are just wingless Sub-Dragons, aren’t they? Their power level hovers around the Excellence Level at best, and their Giant Dragon bloodline is already extremely diluted.’

He had never imagined that simply using the bone marrow of such a Low Tier Sub-Dragon, plus some common supplementary materials, combined with the techniques of a Senior Pharmacist...

...could produce such an overwhelmingly powerful enhancement effect.

This technique of turning the mundane into the miraculous made him heavily reconsider the priority of Pharmacist in his ranking of secondary Professions.

’But taking on a secondary Profession is still a distant concern.’

’The immediate priority is to train this core Skill until it breaks through.’

Lance immediately fell into his stance and began to train.

Supported by the powerful heat from the Gel, he found the quality of his entire training session that evening had been dramatically enhanced.

The Skill Proficiency number on his panel was rising rapidly.

Just as he was pouring with sweat, with only a few Skill Proficiency points left to go, a muffled, tremendous BOOM echoed through the night sky.

He stopped and looked up, hearing a violent explosion from the northeast corner of the town.

A sound that loud was extremely rare in Gray Rock Town.

Very few people dared to use military-grade Alchemy Explosives directly within the town’s residential areas.

After all, the city’s unwritten rules drew a clear line between the lives of the townspeople and the Adventurers, allowing each group to develop independently.

Most who lived here voluntarily upheld its stabilizing rules.

For something like this to happen now, someone had clearly been backed into a corner and was willing to take everyone down with them.

He just didn’t know who had caused the explosion.

’But those external disturbances have nothing to do with me.’

Lance pulled his gaze back. He had to focus all his attention on the Advanced Specialization he was about to obtain.

Lance reset his fighting stance and resumed swinging his heavy fists.

Soon.

The long-awaited notification chimed clearly in his mind.

He calmed his mind and regulated his breathing.

Soon, the familiar blue screen of light flared to life before his eyes.

[Dragon Hunting Breathing Combat Technique Skill Proficiency +1, Level 3 → Level 4]

[Power +1, Constitution +1, Spirit +1, Perception +1]

An astonishing four Basic Attributes had increased simultaneously.

This fundamental elevation, originating from the very source of his life, sent his overall strength skyrocketing.

Immediately after, he keenly sensed the Ethereal Energy Pool within his Sun Wheel contract sharply as if under immense pressure.

The residual Gel Medicine Power that had been supplying heat throughout his training now found an outlet, and the entire crimson torrent surged madly into that tiny Ethereal Energy Pool.

Then, the notification for the Specialty he had been so eagerly anticipating popped up.

[Amidst the ceaseless Ether Burning, not only were you not incinerated by the rampant Energy, but you successfully harnessed this power.]

[You did not merely imitate this Breathing Combat Technique’s creator, the ’Hunter,’ to harness power. Instead, you have reached for the technique’s ultimate theoretical enemy: the Giant Dragon.]

[You have obtained the Specialty: Red Dragon Transformation]

——

Red Dragon Transformation

Specialty Level: Extraordinary/Legendary

Prerequisite: [Dragon Hunting Breathing Combat Technique] at Level 4 (Mastery), Dragon Vein Material

Specialty Effects:

1. Passive Effect: The color of a Giant Dragon has been forcibly infused into the very essence of your soul. When you choose a Profession and unlock your [Source Material] in the future, you will shatter the single Source Material limit of conventional life forms and forcibly gestate a second, exclusive Source Material: [Crimson Dragon]. (Current Status: Source Melting Furnace not yet activated, locked/unviewable)

2. Active Effect: Dragon Form

You can attempt to harness the power of an ancient Giant Dragon, activating Dragon Form by releasing a massive burst of Ether Energy in a specific manner.

While maintaining Dragon Form, your Life Value will continuously decrease at a terrifying rate of 2% per second. The Dragon Form state is automatically canceled when your Life Value drops below 1%.

Upon entering the Dragon Form state, your body will undergo a temporary mutation into that of a [Young Dragon], and you will forcibly gain the following four special bonuses: [Weak Dragon’s Might], [Weak Dragon Scale], [Combat Stance], and [Temporary Attribute].

——

Invincible!

Powerful!

As Lance stared at the text on the light screen, only those two words echoed wildly in his mind.

The first passive effect displayed on the panel alone was enough to make him gasp in shock.

In this world, all Professionals who step through the gates of the Extraordinary will condense their own exclusive [Source Material] the moment they officially choose their Profession.

Just how important was Source Material?

It was equivalent to the entirety of a person’s existence!

All past experiences, soul traits, and physical power would eventually be integrated into this core.

It represented a Professional’s most fundamental and distinct characteristic.

Yet now, this Specialty had forcibly broken the common laws of the Material Realm, carving out a second, unknown Source Material slot outside of his basic template.

And its name was [Crimson Dragon].

Just from those two words, he could feel a terrifying, overwhelming pressure.

Lance even suspected that the Ordinary Source Material he would eventually condense upon choosing a Profession might not even compare to the special core granted by this Specialty.

’Based on this first effect alone,’ he thought, ’it’s no wonder this Specialty can reach Legendary Quality.’
