When faced with overwhelming pressure, there are certain possible reactions that can be expected from cadets that have yet to face what real danger.

Some instinctively cover themselves; most groan in pain and grasp for breath, some endure the pain while others loss composure entirely, allowing their Force to fluctuate wildly under stress.

Every generation of cadets had those variations, and every future generation is expected to have those variations, but all of them fall under these categories.

One did not.

Luca felt a slight disconnect with his field, as if the force that resonated towards the specific corner of the auditorium wasn’t his anymore.

He couldn’t exactly discern it, but it certainly wasn’t negation.

He briefly glanced at a child seated in the far corner, with eyes that screamed the colour of lust-pink, and hair black as jet. Less of a fighter, that child looked like a model.

And besides him was girl of almost the same age, who was also trying to figure out the sudden disappearance of pressure.

"Ha--." Luca scoffed, and shook his head.

And in an instant the force in the auditorium retracted.

Gasps were heard all over while cadets who couldn’t even dare to lift their heads finally paid attention to Luca.

"Good Evening, everyone," Luca spoke.

"My name is Luca Ferraro. I currently serve as Director of the Union." The smile on his face widened ever so slightly.

Absolute silence settled over the auditorium.

Even the professors standing along the walls unconsciously straightened.

Luca let his gaze travel across the thousand faces before him, a rare few had already regained their breathing.

"The demonstration just now was unpleasant. It was also intentional." His voice remained calm.

"An awakener’s first instinct under pressure reveals considerable more than any written examination. Talen can be measured, potential can be estimated, but instincts can never be fabricated."

He folded his hands behind his back and began walking slowly across the podium.

"The IAA has never promised comfort. It promises opportunity."

"Many of you entered this academy believing its purpose was simple...to become stronger."

"I’m afraid that assumption is inaccurate."

Not a single person interrupted him.

"The governments already possess stronger soldiers than mose of you will ever become. The Union employs researchers whose understanding of force exceeds anything taught in classrooms. The great families have spent centuries cultivating successors so then.....Why are you here?"

"Because strength was never an objective."

The massive display walls flickered, calibrated codes, and illuminated a slow rotating image of earth.

"There are other awakener’s academies. Some hosted by great families throughout the world. Despite that...there’s a reason why IAA is considered a standard,"

"Today marks the first day on which you are authorized to learn why."

The globe of earth’s hologram divided. A second earth appeared beside it.

Then...a third earth, a fourth, a fifth, and they continued, connected by a single luminous line.

Several cadets squinted their brows and leaned forward.

"The phenomenon displayed behind me has been known to the world’s governments for decades."

"I imagine most of you have already reached the same conclusion," he raised his one hand, looking at confused faces of cadets.

"This is not a theoretical model...the worlds before you have all been confirmed to exist."

’What?’

’Seriously?’

’That’s impossible---’

’What’s he even talking about?’

Several surprised voices echoed across the auditorium.

Shocked voices rose in overlapping waves. In the back rows, several students began whispering urgently to one another.

One hand slowly rose somewhere near the center rows.

"Yes?" Luca acknowledged it with a slight nod.

"...Sir...are thos...planets?" the cadet asked.

"No." Luca answered.

"They are not planets," with a simple gesture, the hologram enlarged on of the worlds.

It had blue oceans, same continental outlines, polar ice, cloud formations, the project slowly rotated.

"This world possesses the same astronomical constants as our own, the same solar body, the same lunar body, with similar continental foundations, and it is...another earth."

Luca smiled and spread his arms as if revealing something more breathtaking.

"We refer to each independent world as a Dimension."

"They are not simulations, or alternate timelines, or hypothetical universes...No."

"What you see right here...are independent realities occupying different dimensional coordinates." His words were absolute, but obsolete.

"They possess their own histories, their own geographies, their own ecosystems, and their own civilizations," The hologram shifted once more, five worlds remained suspended above the podium.

"These five dimensions are presently connected to ours through confirmed stable corridors, and we classify these corridors as Type-I Gates., that are stable."

The words were...grave.

Existence of portals wasn’t something government could not keep a secret. Even among awakeners, the royal families like Severans who have rumours of having such portals under their care, the truth was unknown.

But nobody expected that these portals weren’t dungeons or domains like those of fantasy novels, but a complete dimension with it’s own system of universe, life, and time.

"Why do we classify these gates as Type-I Gates? What are different types of gates?" Marcellus asked, lazily raising his hand.

Luca turned to face him, and nodded.

"Type-I is a stable junction. A bilateral dimensional junction." Luca began his explanation.

The projection shift, a linear diagram connected two points on the screen.

"A type-I Junction permanently connects two, and only two dimensions."

"It’s where transit is regulted, geographically fixed, and can be crossed repeatedly, and most importantly...it does not permit unrestricted expansion."

"Hmm... Understand it like this," Luka snapped his finger and three points appeared on the screen on a linear frame.

"Consider our world Dimension A."

"Now, we have a Type-I Junction connecting our Dimension A to Dimension B."

"Where, the people from Dimension A can enter and exit Dimension B, but the people of Dimension B cannot enter and exist Dimension A."

"Now suppose there is a Type-I Junction in Dimension B, connecting it to Dimension C."

"The people of Dimension B may enter and exit the people of Dimension C, but the people of Dimension A cannot enter and exit Dimension C."

Marcellus found the phenomenon odd, but he still nodded at the simple explanation.

"Now this rule is broken by Type-II Junction. Dimensional Rupture Event."

"To understand this. Suppose there exists a violent and broken system of universe in Dimension Z. The portals that form connecting Dimension Z to any dimension have no dimensional restriction on its entrance, and they are constant calamities, that keep the other dimensions on edge."

"For now...Our Dimension, Dimension A (Earth) has seen no sign of Type-II Junction. But all other dimensions connected to our Dimension are on constant war with their own types of Type-II Junction."

"I began my speech with a premise of making you understand your position. You’re not here to be strong and fight among yourselves..."

"We all...are in a state of war."
