Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 138: There's Definitely Something Wrong With You

After that, Huang Lingyu was practically blind and deaf. The world before her went black, and her mind was filled with a deafening roar.

She had no idea what Yang Hui was saying to the sales associate. All she wanted was to get out of there as quickly as possible.

"Here, take this one down too. Let her try it on."

He was pointing at the Sylvie 1969 with studs—it had glass-and-metal stud detailing for an even stronger vintage feel.

The sales associate took it down and handed it to Huang Lingyu, only to find the young woman wearing an expression of grief and indignation. 'If this handsome guy were buying me a bag, I'd be in a hotel room with him in a heartbeat,' the associate thought, puzzled. 'Why does she look so upset?'

She couldn't figure it out, because she hadn't heard what Yang Hui had just said.

"Hey, Huang Lingyu. Back to earth."

Huang Lingyu stared at him, her eyes seemingly unable to focus.

"This bag. Try it on."

She took the bag with a blank expression. The design was unique, and she loved it, but she knew Yang Hui was just using her as a model.

Each glass stud was embedded in the calfskin at a forty-five-degree angle, arranged in a "twisted torch" pattern that felt like icicles under her fingertips.

When Huang Lingyu slung the chain strap over her shoulder, the studded bag hung naturally three finger-widths above her hipbone, creating a geometric echo with her belt buckle.

Yang Hui walked over and took a look. "Mm, it suits you very well—"

Huang Lingyu let out a cold laugh. 'I'm not falling for that again,' she thought. 'Being humiliated once is enough. Why would I ask for it a second time?'

As she took the bag off, she accidentally glanced at the price tag. The boutique price displayed was 24,200 yuan—nearly three months of her salary.

Yang Hui's voice sounded by her ear. "Wrap this one up, too."

The sales associate looked like she wanted to run over and plant a kiss on his face. Every time he stopped by, he took care of her sales quota for her. She took the items to the register, and as she walked away with her back to Yang Hui, the sway of her hips grew noticeably wider. It made him wonder if she was going to throw her back out walking like that.

After paying, Yang Hui carried the first bag himself and handed the bag with the second one to Huang Lingyu. "Here, hold this."

Huang Lingyu took it, feeling utterly mortified and seething with anger.

'Yang Hui, I was so wrong about you. You're such a jerk! Humiliating me is one thing, but now you're using me as a pack mule? Where's your gentlemanly conduct? And to think I was just starting to believe you were a decent guy these past two days—handsome, charming, and generous with women. I was completely wrong. You're just an out-and-out asshole.'

In her mind, she drew several large X's over his face.

As they left the Gucci store, the sales associate was still waving enthusiastically behind them. It looked less like she was saying goodbye and more like she was trying to beckon his very soul.

"Come on, let's go see a movie."

Shen Meng's livestream would be ending in a little while, leaving him with a two-hour gap. He didn't know what else to do, and figuring it was just enough time for a movie, he decided to ask someone to go with him since he didn't feel like going alone.

Huang Lingyu thought, 'Who the hell would want to see a movie with you? I need to stay far away from you. You're an absolute monster.'

"Um, Yang Hui, I have things to do this afternoon, so I can't go with you."

"Oh? Alright!"

He wasn't the type to force people, especially not women. He'd extend an invitation once. If they didn't take it, there wouldn't be a next time.

"This bag is for you."

Seeing him about to turn and leave, Huang Lingyu held up the bag in her hand, indicating that he had left his things with her.

"That one's for you. Why are you giving it to me? Am I supposed to carry a woman's purse?"

Ah—For me?

She froze, having just been put through a roller coaster of emotions.

Joy, then humiliation, then confusion, and now, an unexpected, wonderful surprise.

"What are you 'ah'-ing about? Is there something wrong with you? If I wasn't giving it to you, why the hell would I have you try it on?"

Even though he was scolding her, Huang Lingyu wasn't the least bit upset. Instead, she felt the joy of recovering something she thought she had lost.

'So he's not that kind of person. I wasn't wrong about him after all. I completely misjudged him! I knew it. I've always been a good judge of character. How could he possibly be such a jerk?'

'Huh? Wait a minute. What does he mean, "if it wasn't for me, why would I have you try it on?" Didn't you just have me try on a bag that wasn't for me? And he called me crazy. Hmph.'

Yang Hui had no time for her racing thoughts. He turned and headed back into the mall. If he wasn't going to the movies with someone, he'd just find another place to sit for a while.

"Hey, wait for me."

Seeing him walk away, Huang Lingyu finally snapped out of it and jogged to catch up.

He turned back, looking at her with confusion. "Don't you have things to do?"

Huang Lingyu lowered her head, unconsciously twisting the hem of her clothes with her fingers. The bottom of her silk blouse was now covered in fine wrinkles, much like the tangled thoughts in her mind.

"I'm free now. Let me go to the movies with you."

Yang Hui stared at her for a moment. She kept avoiding his gaze, but he saw her secretly tracing the outline of his profile in the reflection of the glass curtain wall.

"I'm pretty sure you don't have things to do. You just have issues."

She'd been insulted, but she wasn't unhappy. She followed him toward the movie theater.

BZZZT—

Yang Hui pulled out his phone. It was a message from Yang Na.

[Yang Na: You're going to regret not coming. This client representative from the brand is gorgeous. And her figure is incredible. I guarantee you've never seen a woman this beautiful.]

Yang Hui smiled. 'So easily impressed.' He admitted that Serene was a rare beauty, but unfortunately for her, he really had seen someone even more stunning—a woman with the natural air of a Queen. If he hadn't met that person, he might have shared Yang Na's sentiment.

[Yang Hui: Don't exaggerate. You're gorgeous yourself, one of a kind.]

The flattery worked on Yang Na. A long moment later, she replied: "You're terrible."

When they reached the movie theater, Yang Hui told Huang Lingyu to go buy the tickets while he sat on a sofa and waited, projecting an air of "I'm the boss."

Huang Lingyu was in such a good mood that if he'd asked her to scalp tickets, she probably would have done it. She obediently stood in line, bought the movie tickets, and came back with popcorn and two fruit juices.

They didn't choose a specific film. Yang Hui's only real goal was to kill his boredom; he would have bought a ticket for whichever movie was screening the soonest.

Huang Lingyu picked the one with the earliest showtime and returned to sit next to him. They had five minutes until they could go in.

Zheng Lei was also at Xinyue Square, but he had no idea Huang Lingyu worked there. He knew she was a car sales consultant, but he didn't know she was now with Lantu Dream Chaser. A few months ago, she had still been selling SAIC-Volkswagen cars. She had switched jobs because the trend was shifting to new energy vehicles, which were more profitable—a fact Zheng Lei was unaware of.

At that moment, he was sitting and chatting with a man in his thirties at a juice bar upstairs. This man ran a clearance sale business, negotiating for temporary sales spaces in various malls and then organizing sales events with other brands' overstock. The business was doing reasonably well.

"Uncle Zheng gave me a call and told me to take you under my wing. You can stick with me for the time being."
