Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 150: No Tolerance for Nasty Habits"I have to say, you people at Futong Commerce are really something else. You know we already gave Airex our support, but forget being grateful, you turn around and use it to demand the same terms for other brands. This is a classic case of ’give an inch, take a mile,’ isn’t it? It looks like we can’t give you any favorable policies from now on."
The staff at Xinyue Square were quite resentful about the rent reduction. It was a directive from regional headquarters they simply had to follow, but it created a lot of trouble for them. When Futong Commerce brought up the Airex rent reduction, other brands came knocking, hoping for a reduction too. Thankfully, they were turned away. But what about the other companies? They would ask, "Why could you give Airex a rent reduction? We’re losing money too, so why can’t we get any support?"
Although Xinyue Square held a strong position and the individual stores could eventually handle the situation, it was still a major hassle. They were fielding more than a dozen extra calls a day. So when they heard Futong Commerce was coming to negotiate again, they couldn’t hold back. They hit them with a barrage of biting sarcasm and sent them packing.
"A Hui, the other teams are nowhere near as capable as you. They couldn’t make any headway on this, so President Li was wondering if you could step in and try to negotiate?"
"No." ’In his dreams.’
’For the brands I’m in charge of, it’s one thing; President Tian will help me out. But to take on everyone else’s problems and go running to President Tian? Do I have no shame? I can’t believe Li Yang has the gall to even think of it. It’s like other people’s dignity means nothing to him. Perhaps to Li Yang, dignity is useless. If it can be traded for money, then the more, the better.’
"Hey, we’re all on the payroll here. We’re all part of the company. Company business is..."
"That’s enough, President Shan. It’s almost the end of the day, let’s not discuss this any further. My salary is based on my current job responsibilities. If it’s about Airex, you can come to me. Anything else is off the table."
Dan Biao’s head was throbbing. If the weight of this task wasn’t entirely on his shoulders, he wouldn’t want to be begging this loose cannon.
"A Hui, we’re both managers here. We can’t be so petty about every little thing."
This made Yang Hui laugh. ’The boss sets unreasonable goals, and when employees fail to meet them, he has no problem being petty when he docks their pay. Yet he tells his employees not to be petty when he wants them to do more work.’
"President Shan, being a manager means nothing. President Li is the boss. You should go to him. He has more of an obligation to negotiate this than any of us. Anyway, it’s quitting time. I’m heading out."
Leaving the office, he shook his head. ’This company is so screwed up. An employee has some personal connections, and they expect to turn them into company resources? And if you’re not willing, you’re accused of being petty about your job? What a rotten attitude. They’ve all been spoiled rotten.’
Watching Yang Hui walk away, Dan Biao wasn’t angry. He already understood the loose cannon’s temper and had only approached him to give it a shot, anyway. He actually agreed with what Yang Hui had said. ’A rent reduction this difficult should be handled by Li Yang himself leading the team. How are we supposed to pull it off when it’s handed down to us? Besides, it distracts from our actual jobs. How are we supposed to focus on operations and management?’
The company was already used to Yang Hui clocking out the second it was quitting time. Today, however, he still managed to attract attention. ’That guy’s getting too brazen. Not only does he leave right on the dot, but he’s also leading Shen Meng astray.’
Running over to the livestream team, shouting for Shen Meng, and then waiting with her by the time clock to punch out—he was really pushing the company’s rules to the absolute limit.
"Manager Yang is getting more and more brazen. And the craziest part is, he never gets disciplined for it."
"Disciplined? Forget disciplined, didn’t you hear his entire department got raises?"
"Man, I want to try challenging the company’s limits too."
"You might have the guts to challenge your own moral limits, but I doubt you’d dare challenge the company’s."
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class cruised smoothly down the wide asphalt road. Yang Hui steered with one hand, his other resting on Shen Meng’s thigh.
"Yang Hui, focus on driving. Safety first."
He reluctantly moved his hand back. Shen Meng’s legs were fair and smooth, and since she no longer resisted his gentle touches, he took every chance he could get to indulge his hands.
She had a point; he shouldn’t be distracted while driving. He was good at taking sound advice.
"Shen Meng, about the NLB livestream—Yang Na has finalized things with the brand company. I’m going to talk with the Xinyue Group regional office in the next few days about doing another one, following the same format as the Airex event. The only thing is, the subsidies might not be as generous. After all, under our store’s terms, the mall only takes a 6% commission on sales. If we ask them to subsidize an additional 10% discount, that’s equivalent to them taking a 4% loss."
For the mall to break even was already a huge show of support; he had no intention of asking them to take a loss on the event.
This was the first time Shen Meng had heard about the business terms of the partnership between Yanghe Commerce and Xinyue Group. When she heard the 6% figure, she thought she must have misheard.
"A 6% commission?"
She wasn’t involved in business negotiations herself, but her cousin, Wu Min, often told her how capable Wang Hua was. She said he was a master negotiator with Xinyue Square, capable of getting an extra 20 yuan off the standard market rate of 700 yuan per square meter per month.
Twenty yuan per square meter per month wasn’t a small sum. For a 200-square-meter store, that was a savings of 4,000 yuan every month.
’But what the hell kind of deal did Yang Hui negotiate? A 6% commission? Does he own Xinyue Square or something? You can only imagine how insane the profit margins on his store must be.’
’No wonder he dared to offer his employees such high salaries.’ Since she was starting at Yanghe Commerce next week, Yang Hui naturally wouldn’t shortchange one of his own. He had offered her a starting base salary of 22,000 yuan a month, which she felt was too high and had tried to refuse.
Yang Hui had told her, "That’s just a supervisor-level salary, not even a senior supervisor. It’s not that high. Our most junior employees have a starting base salary of 10,000 yuan."
Shen Meng’s first reaction upon hearing that was, ’Are you even running a company? It sounds like a joke. How can the company possibly make a profit paying salaries that high?’
But now, after hearing about his business terms with Xinyue Group, she finally understood the source of his confidence.
"Yanghe Commerce sent you a formal Offer, right?"
"HR already contacted me. I’ll get on my computer tonight and formally accept it."
"Heh, so formal and proper."
Yang Hui felt like laughing. Yang Na must have copied the whole playbook from Ruijing Commerce. He hadn’t even met the new HR person yet; he’d only heard from Shen Meng that this was who had contacted her.
"Standardizing all the procedures from the beginning makes work more efficient and helps employees form good habits early on. Isn’t that a good thing?"
He knew she was teasing him. ’Here he is, the boss, with his company’s standardized management, and he’s making snide remarks about it behind the scenes.’
He laughed. He was only joking. He had delegated that area to Yang Na to manage. It was just that her previous experience wasn’t at a very high level, so Yang Hui still kept an eye on things.
It seemed Yang Na was a very quick learner.
