Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 202 - 180: Let’s Get Together?

"Want to find a place to sit down?"

Yang Hui took the initiative to invite her, and Serene nodded. The two of them went to the Starbucks where they had first met.

As luck would have it, the spot where they had sat the first time was empty. He told her to go wait there and asked what she wanted to drink.

Serene shook the coffee in her hand. "I’m fine with this."

Yang Hui ordered a latte for himself. When he returned, he placed it on the table and smiled. "I won’t grab the wrong one this time."

Serene pursed her lips into a small smile but didn’t take the bait. ’He’s really something else,’ she thought. ’How could he bring up such an embarrassing incident himself?’

"The coffee at your store is better than Starbucks, and your membership service is really well done."

Yang Hui accepted her compliment without a hint of modesty. He only selected the finest coffee beans, so of course the taste was exceptional. "You haven’t tried our desserts. They’re also leagues above anything else on the market."

"I heard from your sales staff that your company’s philosophy is ’to serve customers wholeheartedly.’ I hope you can stick to that. Companies that can actually do it are few and far between; calling them exceedingly rare wouldn’t be an overstatement."

"Of course I’ll stick to it. I’m not just spouting slogans; this is my utopia."

Serene’s expression today was exceptionally gentle. When they first met, she had maintained a sense of distance, but after hearing Yang Hui’s words today, she seemed to have found an interest in conversation.

"If you really intend to follow this path, the distributor model will be very difficult to sustain. You can’t control the product’s R&D, design, or quality. At most, you can only keep demanding more from yourself on the service side."

Serene’s words reminded him of Xiaohe Wanwan. The two of them seemed to be on the same wavelength about this.

"As a customer representative for NLB, it seems like you’re tempting me to create my own brand."

She gave a faint smile, her bright features causing him to be momentarily entranced. ’She’s truly the most beautiful woman I’ve seen, aside from that mysterious young lady,’ he thought, ’and her figure is practically unrivaled.’

"This has nothing to do with my job. We’re not discussing NLB right now."

Yang Hui was only joking, of course. He knew she was discussing his company’s future direction with him. He grew serious and said, "I have been considering creating my own brand recently, but I’m not skilled in brand management. I also don’t have enough capital right now. However, I’ll first think about which market track to choose and handle the preliminary work, like trademark registration. Once I find a good brand manager and have sufficient funds, I’ll set things in motion."

This wasn’t just him talking nonsense. Ever since his chat with Xiaohe Wanwan, he had already been planning for this. He really did lack someone to run point on this, but most importantly, he lacked money. However, he believed all of this could be resolved soon. The moment he left Futong Commerce, he would receive 30 million in "unemployment benefits," which should be enough for the initial operations.

Serene, of course, didn’t know he was relying on a "system." She nodded and said, "Based on your current sales volume, your profits should be considerable. But considering your plan to open more than twenty new stores this year, your cash flow problem will likely be difficult to resolve before next year."

She didn’t know Yang Hui’s current financial situation, but she could infer from Yang Na’s purchase that his account balance wasn’t high. She also didn’t know how low his rent was, nor how high his labor costs were. She was just making a judgment based on the typical cash flow of a regular store.

"I’m confident I can solve the funding issue in three months, tops. But there are no good candidates for brand management. Qingzhou is a small place, mostly filled with distributor companies. It’s hard to find high-level brand operations personnel here."

Serene nodded slightly. "You shouldn’t have overly high expectations for those so-called brand-operations gurus out there. The times make the hero. Their success is often the result of a specific moment, a certain opportunity, plus the right timing, location, and people all coming together. Once people like that succeed, it’s easy for them to form their own echo chambers and become unwilling to accept new things.

But the market is changing at a breakneck pace, and consumer demands shift just as quickly. Trying to manage a brand with a traditional mindset is doomed to fail. Haven’t you noticed? Many of the new brands making a name for themselves today are started by small, obscure companies. Meanwhile, the corporate giants often struggle to launch a truly impressive product.

The same goes for product design. Many big foreign brands don’t sell well when they first come here, but after being acquired by a local company and having young Chinese designers redesign some styles, they sell like crazy.

So don’t blindly trust those so-called experienced brand managers. Their business philosophy might not align with yours, and a partnership between the two of you won’t necessarily produce positive results."

Yang Hui nodded as he listened. He felt that she made a lot of sense. As expected of someone from Shanghai—she was worldly and had her own unique insights on things.

Thinking of this, he looked at Serene and had a sudden idea. "In that case," he began, "how about we combine?"

As soon as he said it, he saw Serene’s face flush red and immediately explained, "I don’t mean ’combine’ in the way you’re thinking—"

Serene picked up her coffee and took a sip, then said coolly, "I wasn’t thinking anything."

’Right,’ he thought, ’then why are you blushing?’ He also took a tactical sip of water.

"What do you want me to do? Come work for you? Or do you need my investment?"

"I mainly want you. As for the money, you can invest a little if you want. But I’ll be upfront with you: I’m in business to make money, but money isn’t everything. I’ll probably only set aside a portion of the profits for dividends. The rest will likely be used to improve employee benefits and welfare."
