Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 206 - 181: Perhaps We Can Really Cooperate{’That Fox Spirit. Hooking up with Yang Hui after just one class reunion. Zheng Lei is a useless loser, too; the green on his cuckolded head is practically glowing.’}
Leaving Cartier, Huang Lingyu followed Yang Hui, not knowing where he was taking her. She didn’t ask; she would follow him wherever he went. From time to time, she would lift her fair, slender wrist to look at the glittering golden Protective Talisman Bracelet on it, and couldn’t help but laugh happily.
"What are you grinning so foolishly about?" Yang Hui suddenly turned his head, startling her so much that she quickly covered her mouth, her face instantly turning red.
"I’m taking you out to eat. Let’s go to Yinlu · Xiang. It’s a private kitchen with quiet little rooms for two."
Huang Lingyu naturally had no objections. She knew he had a Diamond-level VIP Card for the place, which meant they could dine for free. She was overthinking it, however. Yang Hui had only accepted Aunt Zheng’s card because he couldn’t refuse her kindness, but he never intended to enjoy a free dinner.
This was Serene’s first time at the NLB store in Wanlong Square. After seeing the Xinyue Square Store, looking at this place felt like looking at Li Yang’s old, ugly, horse-like face right after seeing Yang Hui’s handsome one.
She shook her head lightly. ’How could I have such a thought?’ For people, one shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. But for a store, its image directly determined whether customers were willing to walk in.
The NLB store from Yanghe Commerce had an image and display that felt comfortable and pleasing to the eye; you’d want to go in for a look even if you weren’t shopping. But this store, from Futong Commerce? The two clerks were inside chatting. The main seasonal products on the central display table, which a customer must have disturbed, were a total mess, and no one had bothered to tidy them up. This was the first thing you saw when you walked in—a prime display location.
Looking at the clerks here, they completely lacked the warmth of the staff at Yanghe Commerce. She saw a customer enter the store, but the two sales associates acted as if they hadn’t seen a thing, continuing to chatter away. Finding it a bit much, she walked into the store. "Excuse me, ladies, there’s a customer over there."
The sales associate gave her a cold look. But seeing her exceptional air and her face that radiated calm confidence—the kind of person who was clearly extraordinary—the clerk subconsciously didn’t dare to object. She hurried over to the customer, but without a word of greeting, simply trailed behind her like a shadow.
’Oh my god.’ Serene had never dreamed that Futong Commerce’s management would be this rotten. Forget comparing it to the incredibly high standards of Yanghe Commerce; even a random small-brand store would have far better service awareness and sales tactics.
NLB is a brand with a high price point. If the service doesn’t measure up, it’s hard to close a sale. How could they possibly manage the brand well like this? She didn’t know if this store was an exception or if all of Futong Commerce operated this way.
Recalling that there were several other brands from Futong Commerce in this mall, she took a quick tour. She found that apart from Airex, which was managed quite well, the others were only marginally better than the NLB store.
Serene was very displeased, partly because of Futong Commerce’s poor management, and partly because she couldn’t understand why a high-priced brand like NLB would be given to the team with the worst management skills. With this thought in mind, she returned to the NLB Store.
As expected, the previous customer hadn’t made a purchase. ’If it were me,’ she thought, ’I wouldn’t buy anything with that kind of service, either.’
This time when she entered the store, she happened to hear a clerk say loudly, "What’s the point of the company offering a reward like this if we can’t even reach it? I’m so done with this job."
’A new policy? What new policy could provoke such a strong reaction from the staff?’
Curious, Serene walked over and asked, "Excuse me, I’m from NLB Company. I’d like to know more about this policy you’re discussing."
The clerk was still a bit intimidated by her and explained the situation in detail.
The "performance bet" policy pushed by Li Yang was supposed to be communicated by Zhang Li. But Zhang Li, fearing the stores would fall apart the moment they heard the news, came up with a plan. He came to the store that afternoon and said that although the company called it a "bet," there were indeed rewards for success. As for failure, he would apply to the company to waive the penalties.
He explained that the contract was written as a "betting agreement" to show parity; otherwise, it wouldn’t be a bet. He repeatedly reassured the staff not to worry, that there would definitely be no penalties.
As an operations department manager, the staff believed him. After all, if he was lying, he couldn’t bear the fallout from such a scandal; things would explode. But they didn’t know Zhang Li’s reasoning: ’A meltdown in a month is better than a meltdown now.’
But even if they believed there would be no penalties, they were still dissatisfied. Their demand was for an increase in salary and benefits. However, the target in Li Yang’s betting agreement was a bit too absurd. Who could increase their operational metrics from a 4% conversion rate to 10%, and the associate rate from 1.4 to 2.4, in a single month? The reward was basically nonexistent. Wasn’t creating such a policy a completely pointless, roundabout exercise?
After they finished their litany of complaints, Serene couldn’t help but picture Li Yang’s arrogant face. This policy really seemed like something a stubborn and conceited person like him would come up with. He was arrogant and overconfident. The hallmark of such people is blind confidence. A boss, someone who sets the direction and makes policy, who doesn’t even bother to understand the actual situation and prescribe the right solution.
It was all based on subjective assumptions. He was formulating policy based on his own guesses, and he was going to run the stores into the ground.
There was another point Serene didn’t mention. Judging by Li Yang’s and Zhang Li’s behavior during their meeting, once this betting agreement was signed, there was no way Zhang Li’s so-called "fight to waive the penalty" would ever happen. He was obviously just stringing the stores along.
