Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 209 - 182: Will You Be with Me? (Part 2)

"Start with ten thousand." Then he pointed at Huang Lingyu and said, "Register it with her number and name."

Accustomed to having things arranged for her, Huang Lingyu didn’t object. After she provided her phone number and name, the server said, "Please wait a moment. I’ll bring the card right over, and we’ll deduct tonight’s expenses directly from it."

Yang Hui stood up. "I’m not going to wait, Lingyu. Go on and join your work dinner. Keep the card and use it whenever you need to."

"Okay, I’ll see you out."

She didn’t refuse. Their relationship had already reached the point where she was at his beck and call. She had already accepted gifts worth over a hundred thousand yuan from him, so it would seem disingenuous to make a fuss over a ten-thousand-yuan card.

Yang Hui didn’t refuse either. The two of them walked to the entrance, where they came face-to-face with a group of people walking in.

"Oh, Huang Lingyu, did you know President Wang was coming? Are you out here specially to welcome him?"

Yang Hui looked up and saw a young man about 175 cm tall standing beside a man in his thirties. The rest of the group were all women.

The one who had spoken was the young man. The man in his thirties next to him must be the Director Wang they mentioned.

Huang Lingyu was completely baffled. She hadn’t expected to run into her coworkers at the entrance and was momentarily at a loss for words. Just then, Director Wang nodded arrogantly. "I heard you brought your boyfriend today. Although this is a department team-building event, and technically you’re not supposed to bring guests, you’re new, so you wouldn’t know the rules. Since he’s here, he might as well stay. The food at this restaurant is excellent; it’s a perfect opportunity for your friend to see what a high-end private kitchen in our Qingzhou is like."

Yang Hui saw the man’s condescending expression, acting as if he’d never seen the world or eaten at a private restaurant before. ’What a snob,’ he thought. ’What century is he living in? Who can’t afford a meal these days?’ Unwilling to waste his time on the moron, he said to Huang Lingyu, "Your colleagues are here. You don’t have to see me out."

With that, he walked straight outside. The group of colleagues couldn’t figure out what was going on. ’Didn’t Huang Lingyu bring someone to dinner? Why did her boyfriend just leave? It doesn’t look like they had a fight...’

Just then, the server handling the membership card walked over from the counter and said to her politely, "Hello, valued guest. Here is your card. In the future, you can pay with this card or simply by providing your phone number."

Huang Lingyu took the card and slipped it into her Gucci bag. Seeing this, her colleague, Xiaozhang, couldn’t help but ask, "Huang Lingyu, what kind of card is that?"

She glanced up at him and said calmly, "A prepaid card. I can use it to pay when I come here in the future."

"You got a card for a private kitchen? You’re planning to come here often?" This restaurant wasn’t cheap. For people with their income, coming here regularly was not a sensible way to live. The whole group stared at her. Some had noticed her Gucci bag and began whispering amongst themselves.

"Huang Lingyu usually dresses so plainly. She never seemed rich, but now she’s carrying a Gucci bag."

"Her boyfriend must have bought it. I couldn’t tell before, but that handsome guy seems pretty well-off."

"Tch. Do you think she’d even look at him if he wasn’t well-off? With her looks, it’d be a total waste not to find someone with money."

As the group stood there blocking the entrance, Huang Lingyu’s phone suddenly rang. She had her ringer on. Seeing it was a call from Yang Hui, she quickly answered. It turned out the clothes she’d bought that afternoon were still in his car, and he was telling her to come and get them.

Director Wang said, "Let’s go. To the private room."

Huang Lingyu hung up. "You all go on ahead. I just have to grab something, and I’ll be right there."

Just then, a car horn honked outside. Yang Hui had driven his car over, stopping right at the restaurant entrance and rolling down the window.

The group turned in unison. The sleek lines of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class gleamed under the streetlights. As the window slid down, Yang Hui’s chiseled profile stood in sharp contrast against the car’s leather interior.

Huang Lingyu hurried over in a few quick strides, and the murmuring started up again behind her.

"Wow, her boyfriend’s got some real money, driving a Mercedes E-Class."

"You’re so easily impressed. BBA are a dime a dozen these days. A Mercedes E-Class isn’t a Maybach S-Class, what’s the big deal?"

"Xiaozhang, you’re just jealous. Huang Lingyu’s boyfriend doesn’t even look as old as you, and he’s driving a Mercedes E-Class. You drive a beat-up Lantu, so how can you have the nerve to criticize him?"

"That’s enough. Let’s go to the private room."

Director Wang snapped, a displeased look on his face, and turned to walk toward the private room. Only then did the women suddenly realize that Director Wang also drove a "Lantu."

Carrying several shopping bags, Huang Lingyu entered the private room. All eyes immediately fell on the bags in her hands.

Zhao Yan let out a "tsk." "Well, look at you, Lingyu, went shopping today, did we? We haven’t even gotten our paychecks yet. I still haven’t brought myself to buy that setting powder I like, and here you are on a shopping spree."

She had arrived early and had been in the private room the whole time, so she didn’t know about Huang Lingyu’s boyfriend getting her the prepaid card or that he drove a Mercedes. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have made such a big deal about a few new clothes.

Setting the bags aside, Huang Lingyu went and sat next to Xiaoli. Of everyone at the company, she felt most comfortable around Xiaoli. She had Yang Hui to thank for that; he had once asked her to bring Xiaoli lunch, and the two of them had gotten to know each other better since that day.

Xiaoli leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Don’t pay any attention to them. They’re just jealous. If they had boyfriends willing to spend that kind of money on them, they’d be bragging about it for a year straight."

She gave a faint smile. Of course, she didn’t mind. She’d been the subject of gossip her entire life; if she let it get to her, she wouldn’t have made it this far.

Director Wang shot her a pensive look. Ever since Huang Lingyu had joined the company, he had been coveting the beautiful stunner, but she had never given him an opening. From what he’d observed at the office, she barely had any male friends. ’So how did a boyfriend suddenly pop out of nowhere?’
