"Shen Meng, Shen Meng!"

Just as Yang Hui finished saying he wanted to be the man behind her, he heard someone calling her name from nearby.

He turned his head and saw a guy, about 175 cm tall and rather handsome, staring at Shen Meng with a look of both excitement and disappointment.

Yang Hui could understand the excitement, but he couldn’t for the life of him figure out the source of the disappointment.

"You’re Li Jun?"

Yang Hui glanced between the two of them. ’So they aren’t very close,’ he thought.

"Yes, it’s me. We were classmates for four years, and you finally remember my name."

Li Jun looked absolutely ecstatic, and Yang Hui found it hard to comprehend. ’Is this really something to be so happy about?’

’After four years as classmates, she finally remembers your name, and you’re *this* happy?’

’What a fool,’ he thought, shaking his head. ’An absolute fool.’

After recognizing Li Jun, Shen Meng didn’t say another word to him. Instead, she turned to Yang Hui. "Let’s go."

"Hey, wait a minute."

Just as the two were about to leave, Li Jun called out to them again. "Shen Meng, who’s this?"

"A colleague. Why?"

Li Jun smiled. "That explains it. Only a colleague would have you go buy juice for him. A boyfriend definitely wouldn’t."

Shen Meng turned and said, "Let’s go."

Yang Hui nodded and headed toward the shop with her. Li Jun followed closely behind, asking persistently, "Shen Meng, are you free tonight? I’d like to treat you to dinner."

"No!"

"What about tomorrow?"

"Not then either!"

"When will you be free?"

Exasperated, Shen Meng stopped and turned back. "I plan to work my butt off for the next thirty years. After that, I’ll take a break. I should be free then."

"Then how do you have time to be with him?"

Yang Hui looked at the clueless, lovesick fool with pity. ’Dude, that’s not how you pursue a girl. You’re only going to make her more annoyed with you.’

Sure enough, Shen Meng snapped, "We’re colleagues. We’re working. You know what? I don’t have to explain myself to you."

"Let’s go."

She just wanted to get out of there. Yang Hui glanced back at Li Jun and saw the guy glaring at him with pure resentment. He found it strangely amusing. ’I just drank a cup of her juice and you already hate me for it? You’re way too petty. How could a man like that ever win a woman’s affection?’

’Hm?’ He couldn’t help but glance back at Li Jun again, only then noticing he was wearing a Xinyue Square work uniform. ’Does he work at Xinyue Square?’

He didn’t give it much more thought and followed Shen Meng toward the Airex store.

This store was Ji Kun’s responsibility. He was making his rounds today when he saw his manager arrive together with the company’s most famous beauty, and he couldn’t quite figure out what was happening.

He had left early in the morning, so he didn’t know that Shen Meng was coming to the store for a sales livestream. When he saw his manager, he eagerly trotted over.

’The boss is incredible,’ he thought, giving a mental thumbs-up. ’He even managed to get Shen Meng to come out with him. What’s even more incredible is that he *dared* to. Isn’t he afraid of President Li’s wrath?’

After learning why Shen Meng was there, Ji Kun muttered under his breath, "He’s laying it on thick, but all the sales credit will go to the livestreaming team. It has nothing to do with us. This is obviously just an excuse to hit on a girl. Even an idiot can see that."

As they say, it’s hard to see the forest for the trees. Yang Hui was likely the only one who didn’t see it that way. No sooner had he left the office than Cai Miao went to report to Li Yang and "unintentionally" mentioned that he had gone out with Shen Meng that afternoon.

After Cai Miao left, Li Yang’s expression turned cold and dark. This matter had nothing to do with Yang Hui’s own KPIs, yet he was being so proactive. His objective was self-evident.

"Manager Yang, I don’t think we need to check out the mall’s livestreaming studio. Their equipment is definitely better, but this is our flagship store. Broadcasting from here will do more to earn our customers’ trust."

He understood her point. When selling goods from a studio, many viewers couldn’t be sure about the authenticity of the products. But with a livestream from the flagship store, featuring Shen Meng, an actual company employee, the product quality would seem much more trustworthy, which would drive more sales.

"But the store’s break room is too small, and the staff eat in there too. Won’t it be inconvenient?"

Shen Meng’s enchanting smile was like a cherry blossom suddenly blooming in spring, so radiant it made his heart skip a beat.

"What do you take me for? Some pampered little princess?"

He chuckled. "Well, aren’t you? You have far more class than any of those so-called socialites."

Shen Meng rolled her eyes. "What kind of princess has to work for a living? Let’s stop with the mutual flattery, shall we?"

Ji Kun chimed in from the side, "Our manager’s right. Shen Meng, you’re the most elegant beauty we’ve ever seen."

"Go on, get back to work. Don’t interrupt when the grown-ups are talking!"

Ji Kun knew his manager was just teasing him. He walked over to adjust a display, muttering, "Grown-ups? I’m twenty-seven. He looks like he just graduated."

Now that the location was set, Yang Hui stepped aside to call Cheng Jun and finalize the plan: the livestream would start next Monday.

Why not immediately? Because the platform needed a few days to run promotions and build an audience, which would maximize their reach. Furthermore, the weekend was approaching, and the store would have heavy foot traffic, making it unsuitable for a live broadcast. The in-store and online activities would just get in each other’s way.

"Yang Hui, it’s almost quitting time. Are you going back to the office?"

The two of them had gradually become more familiar with each other. He had asked her not to use his title, saying it created too much distance.

"I’ll give you a ride back. I’ll head out from the office after."

’Spending time together is one way to deepen a bond,’ he thought. ’This three-month mission has a tight deadline. I have to make every second count.’

"You don’t have to go out of your way to drive me. I can take the subway."

"Come on, just take my car. You’ll save a few bucks, which you can use to treat me to some mineral water later."

"Mineral water? That I can afford. Drink as much as you want, my treat!"

’We’re already familiar enough to joke around a bit. Not bad progress for one day.’

The two of them were talking and laughing all the way to the elevator bank. As they waited, however, they ran into Li Jun again.

Shen Meng shuffled to one side, trying to use Yang Hui’s tall frame to hide behind. It was obvious she hated this kind of clingy persistence.

"Shen Meng, where are you going? I can give you a ride."

Yang Hui looked at Li Jun. ’A clueless kid like this is trying to woo a girl?’

"I’m driving, buddy. I’ll take good care of Meng Meng, so you don’t need to worry about it."

Li Jun’s eyes narrowed. ’Meng Meng?’

Shen Meng couldn’t help but glance at him, instantly realizing he was acting as her shield.

"Aren’t you her colleague?"

Yang Hui smiled. "Buddy, haven’t you heard? Proximity is a huge advantage. And I’m the one who’s right here."

Li Jun looked at Shen Meng, seemingly unable to accept this, hoping to hear her deny it.

Yang Hui suddenly wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace. Caught completely off guard, she found herself in his arms, her mind instantly going blank. A roguish voice sounded by her ear, "Buddy, my girlfriend doesn’t need anyone else trying to win her over."
