Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 89: Playing Right Into My Hands’Is that really how it is?’
Shen Meng quietly asked herself. It seemed like it really was.
She didn’t seem to mind at all when Li Qian teased her about Yang Hui.
BUZZ~
Just as she was thinking about Yang Hui, he sent her a message.
[Yang Hui: Let’s leave together after work. We can discuss the details for the livestream.]
Shen Meng saw right through his excuse of using work for personal reasons but didn’t call him out on it.
[Shen Meng: Okay.]
"Boss, why do you look so smug?"
Zhu Jing happened to turn around and saw him grinning foolishly to himself.
"Was it satisfying to see Cai Miao’s reaction this morning?"
Zhu Jing recalled Cai Miao’s furious and flustered expression and nodded. It really had been satisfying.
"So, shouldn’t I be allowed to smile?"
"Oh, so that’s what it was. From your expression, I thought you’d successfully asked Shen Meng out."
Yang Hui’s expression turned serious. "Don’t be ridiculous. I’m a man who has moved beyond such base interests. Even if I were to ask her out, it would be to discuss work."
"Whoa, Boss, you actually asked Shen Meng out?"
"Zhu Jing, is your work finished?"
She puffed out her chest and said proudly, "Of course!"
Yang Hui glanced at the two large mounds on her chest. ’Hmph, you think you can be this cocky just because you finished your work?’
"Since your work is done, could you help me with a data analysis report for last month? Present it as a PowerPoint, no less than 20 pages, and have it on my desk by tomorrow. How does that sound?"
Zhu Jing’s face immediately fell. "Boss, you can’t retaliate against me like this, can you?"
"That depends on your performance."
Like a defeated rooster, she let out a dejected "Oh" and returned to her desk, muttering to herself, ’Boss, you’re a jerk!’
5:29 PM
The company’s employees were all getting ready to leave, but since the boss didn’t like them clocking out right on the dot, everyone would linger at their desks. They’d rather gossip for a bit than be the first one out the door, afraid of being the nail that gets hammered down.
Yang Hui’s maverick behavior immediately drew everyone’s attention.
"Manager Yang is something else, waiting by the time clock to leave."
"I give it a few days before President Li ’lets him off work’ for good."
"Not necessarily. Airex’s performance has been great lately. He might not be obedient, but he brings in profits for the company."
"Heh, but he’s also had a negative influence. Look at him, waiting by the time clock before quitting time. With him setting an example, everyone else is clearly leaving much earlier than before."
"You’re right. If he’s leading the charge, what the hell are we afraid of? Let’s go, let’s go, time to clock out!"
Sitting in the driver’s seat of his Mercedes-Benz E-Class, he sent a message to Shen Meng: "It’s quitting time. I’m waiting for you in the car."
A moment later, he received a reply: "Okay, I’ll be right down. I thought you’d be a little later."
Clearly, she was quite surprised that Yang Hui left right on time, assuming he would follow the crowd like everyone else.
Before long, he saw Shen Meng walking toward him with a light spring in her step. Many of their colleagues were also watching her, seemingly surprised to see her heading for the parking garage.
’The office will probably be buzzing with gossip about me and Shen Meng going on a date tomorrow.’
Shen Meng was wearing a crisply tailored white polo dress today. The slightly open stand-up collar accentuated the elegant, swan-like curve of her neck.
The slim fit showcased her slender figure perfectly—a narrow waist gave way to a flared skirt that swayed with her steps, offering faint glimpses of her long, jade-like legs. The lines of her calves were as smooth as finely carved white jade.
The moment she opened the passenger door, the black of the leather seat created a stark contrast with her porcelain-white skin. As she sat down, the hem of her dress rode up slightly, revealing the delicate curves of her knees.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
"No problem. Good things come to those who wait."
"What do you mean?"
Shen Meng felt there was a hidden meaning in his words.
"Let’s just say the main course isn’t the only thing I’m looking forward to."
"You—" Shen Meng turned her head away. ’How dare he tease a female colleague after only meeting a few times?’ Then again, she recalled how he’d grabbed her butt the first time they met and seen her completely naked the second time. ’What a pervert.’
He closed the car door with a soft thud. The lingering notes of her perfume mingled with the sandalwood scent inside the car. As she tucked her long hair behind her ear, the blue light from the center console screen washed over her cheek like moonlight sweeping across fresh snow.
Yang Hui knew she wasn’t truly angry, just flustered and unsure how to handle his teasing.
"For this on-site sales livestream, is there really no upper limit on the mall’s subsidy of an extra 10% off the discounted price?"
The car had grown too quiet, so Shen Meng decided to break the silence.
He glanced over at her. She was leaning back in the Nappa leather seat, the cinched waist of her polo dress rising and falling gently with her breath, like a white egret resting by a deep pool.
"No limit. It’d be great if you could sell a million, or even more."
"A million? If I can really sell a million, I’ll give you half the bonus."
Shen Meng was joking. A million in sales came with a 20,000 yuan bonus, which was far more than her current monthly salary.
"Have a little faith. If this event goes well, we can talk to the mall about a long-term partnership."
"The mall would agree to that?"
Although Shen Meng didn’t deal with the mall directly, she knew they weren’t running a charity. A partnership like this offered no benefit to the mall, so how could it possibly be a long-term arrangement?
"We can try. Who knows, they might just agree."
Shen Meng turned her head to look at his profile. His charming eyes were slightly narrowed, and his roguish smile seemed to brim with confidence.
’Maybe he really can do it,’ she thought. Just like the resources the mall committed for this livestream—it had sounded impossible at first, but he had made it happen.
"Yang Hui, where are you going? Didn’t you say we were going to discuss the livestream details?"
She had assumed he just wanted her to discuss it with him in the car, and then they would each go their separate ways.
"We’re going to eat first. We can discuss it over dinner."
His voice came from the driver’s seat—not a question, but a statement that brooked no refusal. His well-defined fingers tapped on the steering wheel, and the Berlin Audio system’s volume lowered accordingly.
She looked at him quizzically. "Yang Hui, is this the tone you usually use when you ask a girl out to dinner?"
"Nope."
His crisp reply piqued her curiosity. "Then how do you usually ask?"
"Take it or leave it!"
Shen Meng burst out laughing. "Serves you right for being single."
"You’re wrong. I’m not single because I don’t have opportunities. I’m single to give more women a chance."
"Hmph, you’re shameless."
"Yang Hui, I never accept dinner invitations from guys."
’Hmm? Is she rejecting me?’
After three seconds of silence, she suddenly let out a soft laugh, her fingertip tracing the ash wood trim on the center console. "How about I treat you instead? Think of it as a thank you for setting up this livestream event. That way, I won’t have to break my rule."
Yang Hui’s eyes lit up. ’Well, that’s a pleasant surprise,’ he thought, immediately agreeing with a cheerful, "Sure!"
Shen Meng realized he was truly thick-skinned, accepting a woman’s offer to treat him without a hint of modesty.
