Wilderness: I Tame Beasts to Survive
Chapter 346 - 248: Impressment (Part 2)Chapter 346: Chapter 248: Impressment (Part 2)
Not only were there majestic, giant beetles, but there were also deep-cyan ones hovering at low altitude, much like drones.
Their compound eyes were like searchlights, casting a fan-shaped, eerie green glow ahead of them.
Under this light, even the Spiritual Particles drifting through the air became faintly visible, a truly magical sight.

Introduction: An insect that inhabits underground air vents and has a keen sense for air currents.]
’These insects look like cannon fodder, yet they have an aura comparable to a Longevity Species. The Cyan God Armor certainly live up to their name...’
Although he had yet to see a true Cyan God Insect Master, witnessing these various insects made Han Ning’s estimation of the Ancestor Family rise to a new level.
In a stretch of just over a hundred meters, more than twenty deep-cyan Probing Armors were crisscrossing the area.
Two hulking Insect Servants from the Cyan God Tribe, both over two meters tall, also stood at the entrance to the assembly hall.
On either side, enormous Wind Moss Flying Armors were lined up in a row, like vehicles on display at an auto show.
They stared at Han Ning and his group with huge, bell-like eyes.
Seeing that the newcomer was Fei Lie, the two blocking their path said nothing, merely stepping aside to let them pass.
’These two guards... The Spiritual Fluctuations they’re unconsciously emitting have already reached the minimum standard for an Insect Master. But judging by their appearance, they’re still Insect Servants who failed to evolve properly.’
The thought flashed through Han Ning’s mind as he stepped into the assembly hall.
Because Han Ning had previously infiltrated the Red Centipede Tribe’s headquarters, and Egg Pancake had wreaked havoc, the buildings in the central area had been reduced to a sea of fire.
Thus, the assembly hall they were now in was a recent construction, and its interior was sparsely furnished.
The vast, thousand-square-meter hall was filled with rows of blazing torches that left no corner in shadow.
Female Insect-men from the Red Centipede Tribe were arranging various delicacies from the Insect Continent, considered gourmet food by their kind, onto a tall stone platform in the very center of the hall.
These female Insect-men serving the dishes were no mere Insect Servants, but mostly the descendants of Insect Masters. They looked very much like humans, each one as beautiful as a flower, just like Nia.
The dining customs of the Insect-men differed from those of Xia Country; they sat cross-legged in a circle around the central stone platform.
To the left sat a burly Cyan God Insect-man.
He was slightly smaller than the Insect Servants outside, standing just over two meters tall. His cheeks had a faint green tint, but his features were otherwise completely human. He had a head of light-cyan curly hair and eerie green eyes.
A pair of thin, beetle-like wings grew from his back. His arms were exceptionally thick, their muscles as sharply defined as carved granite.
Other than his wings, the man’s appearance was virtually identical to a human’s—even more so than the Insect Masters of the Red Centipede Tribe.
Two Insect Servants stood behind him as well.
Across from the Cyan God Insect Master were the Insect Masters of the Red Centipede Tribe. Led by Clan Leader Fei Ren, they stood in a respectful line, not daring to touch the delicacies on the table.
Of the entire table of fine food, essentially only the Cyan God Insect Master was partaking.
’This person... isn’t strong. But that makes sense. An Insect Master sent to the Red Centipede Tribe on business wouldn’t be too powerful.’
With a quick glance, Han Ning had already roughly assessed the power level of the Cyan God Insect Master before him.
With his Tier Three Spiritual Power, whenever he encountered a Beast Master of a lower tier, he could generally determine their approximate strength from the subtle Spiritual Fluctuations they emitted.
This method was less effective against those of the same tier or higher, however.
Hearing the noise at the entrance, Fei Ren immediately looked over. He spotted Han Ning beside Fei Lie at once, a flicker of joy flashing in his eyes.
"Lord Cang Shi, allow me to introduce you. This is one of the Insect Masters our tribe has chosen to send to the Divine Hall."
"Oh?"
The Cyan God Insect Master known as Cang Shi put down his food, his gaze landing on Han Ning.
"What’s your name?"
"Guess."
Han Ning blinked.
"You..." Cang Shi was stunned by Han Ning’s sudden wisecrack, unable to process it for a moment.
In that instant, a terrifying dual pressure of Spiritual Power and Spiritual Energy erupted from the unfamiliar Red Centipede Insect Master!
Cang Shi’s pupils contracted. A flash of white reflected in his eerie green eyes.
From the void, jade-white branches covered in mystical Runes suddenly materialized, coiling around his Body like Spiritual Snakes.
In the blink of an eye...
Every Insect Master, Insect Servant, and Soul Beast from the Cyan God Tribe within the hall was bound fast by the jade-white branches.
After evolving into the Jade Hook Spirit Wood, Yin Yi had also gained a sealing ability.
It wasn’t just the hall; the area outside also fell deathly silent. Only the faint sounds of Insect-men walking on a distant street could be heard.
Green light flickered in Cang Shi’s eyes as dark green patterns began to appear on his pale green skin. His bulging, knotted muscles threatened to expand even further.
But it was all for naught. The jade-white branches wrapped around his body continued to suppress him completely.
Cang Shi discovered in horror that his Spiritual Power was sealed. He was completely unable to connect to his Spiritual World to summon his Soul Beasts.
"Who... who are you?"
Only now did Cang Shi realize that the plain-looking Red Centipede Insect Master before him was an expert who had been hiding his true power.
"Tier Two Spiritual Power... You must still be a juvenile Cyan God Insect Master."
Han Ning smiled, walked over to Cang Shi, and extended a finger, touching it to his forehead.
"I..."
Before Cang Shi could speak, a torrent of Spiritual Power crashed into his mind like a ferocious tiger descending a mountain.
In a single second, his once-lucid eyes became vacant.
Immediately after, a flash of blood-red light vanished from Han Ning’s fingertip.
The slumbering All-Encompassing Spiritual Silkworm was woken once again, planting a parasitic Subordinate Insect inside Cang Shi’s brain.
With the All-Encompassing Spiritual Silkworm’s current strength approaching Lord Level, creating a Subordinate Insect took less than an hour.
’All-Encompassing Spiritual Silkworm, how much longer until you evolve?’
Han Ning asked, taking advantage of the moment while the All-Encompassing Spiritual Silkworm was awake and creating the Subordinate Insect.
"...Migu... Gumi..."
’Another three days, and that’s provided I don’t keep bothering you? ...Understood.’ Han Ning nodded. He had checked the All-Encompassing Spiritual Silkworm’s status panel; the progress bar for its accumulated Spirit Blood had already reached 100%, yet the little one was still slumbering, which was why he couldn’t help but ask.
The Purification of the flesh and blood from that Quasi-Monarch Level Blade of Despair had apparently given it a massive boost.
Inside the hall, the other Insect Masters from the Red Centipede Tribe didn’t dare to utter a single word, staring dumbfounded at Han Ning.
An hour passed before the dazed Cang Shi suddenly blinked, the life returning to his eyes.
He then did something that made the jaws of every Insect Master present drop.
"Master!"
With a thud, Cang Shi fell prostrate on the ground, bowing deeply to Han Ning.
"Tell me, what is your purpose here?"
Han Ning glanced at Fei Ren and the others, signaling them not to make a fuss. He sat down on one of the soft cushions in the room and asked casually.
"Reporting to Master, my purpose is to gather Insect Masters from the other tribes and dispatch them to the Queen’s Divine Hall to serve as guards."
’So it really is just a forced conscription. Don’t even the Insect Masters within the Ancestor Families know the purpose of drafting people for the Divine Hall?’
Han Ning thought for a moment before continuing.
"How many Insect Masters did your Cyan God Tribe send out this time? Which areas are your jurisdiction? Who’s the leader, and what’s their approximate strength?"
"Fifty people. We are responsible for the entire southern part of the continent. The person in charge of this operation is His Highness Cang Kong. He is the Clan Leader’s eighteenth son, has Tier Two Spiritual Power, and possesses a Lower Lord Level Thunderbolt Flying Armor. His other Soul Beasts are all at the Upper War General level," Cang Shi replied respectfully.
"That weak? Are there no Insect Masters with contracted Monarch Level Soul Beasts?" Han Ning asked, surprised.
"The recruitment of guards has been going on for many years. The entire continent is the territory of the Queen and our Five Great Holy Clans. There’s simply no need to dispatch such high-level Insect Masters for this task," Cang Shi explained.
