Chapter 371: Chapter 261: Transformation 2
"Eighty continents?!"
"The Insect Continent we’re on is about the same size as the landmass on Blue Star, and even I thought that was huge. But any single continent controlled by the Witch Spirit Race is five times larger than the Insect Continent. And there are at least dozens of continents of that scale in the outside world..."
In that instant, an image of a vast world, countless times more expansive than the Blue Star of their past lives, slowly unfolded in everyone’s minds.
"The Witch Spirit Race is one of the more powerful intelligent races in the Purple Crystal World. They control five continents, each at least five times larger than our Insect Continent."
"The Alataku People, whose overall strength is slightly weaker than ours, originally dwelled in the deep Abyss. Thanks to the efforts of some of their most brilliant and talented members, they broke out of the Abyss and occupied four continents on the surface—and that’s not even including the Insect Continent."
"Back when I was still in the Elemental Capital, the entire south was fighting the Alataku People’s Flying Blade Division—the Duke of Night Nether’s tribe—for control over a continent. It was because of that war that I... ended up imprisoned."
Just as Han Ning was listening intently to Hom’s lecture on the Witch Spirit Race, the Subordinate Insect parasitizing Yue Lin suddenly sent a report:
"Master, I have followed your instructions and brought the Gray Demon Whale to the target location. I await your command."
’Oh? It’s finally here.’
A pleased expression crossed Han Ning’s face. He stood up and announced,
"I’ve gotten word on the Gray Demon Whale I was looking for. I have to step out for a bit. Everyone stay here and continue with the class. I’ll be back soon."
"Captain Han, should we go with you?" several Dragon Blood Beastmasters and a few classmates familiar with Han Ning asked, rising to their feet almost simultaneously.
"No need. The Gray Demon Whale is just a calf. It won’t be very big," Han Ning replied, shaking his head.
"Alright then. Be careful."
"If all goes well, class won’t be over by the time I get back. You’ll be able to observe the Gray Demon Whale’s body directly and use it for your research on Spiritual Arrays."
With that, he pushed open the stone door and walked out of the classroom.
"Lord Han Ning, where are you headed?"
Ah Yu, who had been waiting in the rest area, saw him and immediately came over to greet him.
"Ah Yu, take me to the Howling Forest," Han Ning said without further explanation, tossing her a War General Level Dark Soul Beast Crystal Stone.
"Yes, yes." Ah Yu’s eyes lit up. She deftly caught the Crystal Stone and nodded like a bobblehead.
Then, he called for Qingyao and Egg Pancake and flew toward the location he had arranged with Yue Lin.
The meeting point was in the northern part of the Grudge Abyss, near the Abyssal Rock Ant Gray Demon Whale Breeding Ground.
After the incident with Cang Shi, he felt it was best to avoid frequent contact with these puppets of the Ancestor Families.
He would only need to inform them at certain critical junctures. The rest of the time, they would lay low, acting as a nail driven deep into the enemy’s belly.
The Howling Forest was about 3,400 kilometers from Night Nether City. The journey required bypassing a very powerful Abyssal Race, and without a native like Ah Yu, he would likely have run into trouble.
With Ah Yu guiding them, Han Ning directed Qingyao to carefully avoid the areas where Abyss Beastmasters were active, moving swiftly through the perilous Abyss.
"Ah Yu, it’s only been a few days. You seem to have become much more familiar with the terrain here."
He looked with some surprise at Ah Yu, who was standing on the edge of Egg Pancake’s back, carefully watching the dark landscape speeding by below.
"Lord Han Ning, after I returned, I specifically asked the Clan Leader for the clan’s Geomancy Map and memorized the terrain on it!" Ah Yu replied loudly in the Insect Language.
"You learned the Insect Language, too?" Han Ning asked, surprised.
"I... I had some knowledge of it before. I just studied it more deeply..."
"The Hexagon Race’s territory is thousands of kilometers away from the Howling Forest. You must have put in a lot of work to learn the terrain around here."
More importantly, Ah Yu had no way of knowing he would be traveling through this area. From this, he could deduce that the girl had likely studied the terrain of the entire Grudge Abyss, or at least a very large part of it, in great detail.
"I believed Lord Han Ning would return, and I just wanted to continue being your guide!" Ah Yu answered.
"You’ve worked hard..."
After a moment of silence, Han Ning suddenly asked:
"How many people are in your Hexagon Race right now?"
"Lord Han Ning..." Ah Yu whipped her head around and stared blankly at Han Ning.
"Answer me." Han Ning’s expression didn’t change.
"Yes! Fewer than 1,000."
"That few? How have you managed to survive in the Abyss?" Han Ning frowned.
"We are just a small branch of the Hexagon Race. We survive by wandering to every corner of the Abyss and trading various abyssal materials with other races!"
’The Grudge Abyss is countless times more dangerous than the surface. For the Hexagon Race to be able to wander throughout the Abyss, they must have their own unique strengths.’
"Starting tomorrow, you don’t have to stand guard at the door. Come to the classroom and attend the Spiritual Array lesson with us. Afterward, I’ll give you a copy of the Alataku People’s research materials on Dark Spiritual Energy Circuits. In one week, I’ll have Teacher Hom test you on what you’ve learned."
Han Ning paused, his gaze sweeping over the crimson markings on Ah Yu’s face.
"We’re currently in need of some Abyss Beastmasters who have a deeper sensitivity to Dark Energy. If you can do well, I will consider taking you and your people away from here."
"The knowledge of the Alataku People..."
Hearing Han Ning’s words, Ah Yu’s eyes went vacant.
"What’s wrong? You’re not willing?" Han Ning had expected a straightforward answer from Ah Yu, but now she seemed conflicted again.
