Chapter 409: Chapter 280: Collapse

Given Ah Yu’s excellent performance, diligent studies, and astonishing progress over the past six months, she had already surpassed her peers not only in Spiritual Power and Contracted Soul Beast cultivation, but also in her mastery of Dark Spiritual Arrays.

Even the strictest of instructors, Teacher Hom, had to admit that while Ah Yu’s innate Talent for learning wasn’t top-tier, she was without a doubt the most diligent student, and her grasp of the material was exceptionally solid.

Therefore, after a discussion, Han Ning, Dean Wu, and the leadership of the Dragon Blood Race decided to permit Ah Yu to bring no more than 100 of her kinsfolk to leave with the main group.

Considering the logistical burden and the intricate relationships between the various clans, one hundred people was the absolute limit.

"I have already made my decision. I can notify them to come over at any time." Hearing Han Ning’s question, Ah Yu lowered her head even further.

"Yes, I believe it won’t be long now. In the meantime, be sure to stay in contact with your kinsfolk. Don’t let spatial storms or other clans cause any unforeseen accidents." Han Ning nodded and fell silent.

After two minutes of silence, Ah Yu saw that the man before her had no intention of speaking again. She suddenly bit her lip, mustered her courage, and spoke up. "L-Lord Han Ning."

"What is it?"

"I... I would like to make a request of you."

"You can just say it. No need to be so formal..." Han Ning said with a smile, patting the empty space beside him.

To be honest, he really disliked Ah Yu’s subservient attitude. Despite having told her multiple times to interact with him as an equal, Ah Yu had never listened in that regard.

"I would like to recommend my clan’s High Priest for the study group. His abilities are far greater than mine, and he is much more knowledgeable. Perhaps he could help speed up the inscription of the remaining Arrays."

Han Ning’s brow twitched as he looked directly into Ah Yu’s eyes. "Is this your own idea, or did the High Priest pressure you into this?"

As he spoke, he released his Spiritual Power, enveloping Ah Yu to observe her emotional fluctuations.

"I mean this sincerely. To be honest with you, my Lord, I only became a Beast Master thanks to the High Priest’s guidance. I want to repay his kindness." Ah Yu lifted her head slightly, her gaze sincere as she looked at Han Ning.

"Is that so... And what is your High Priest’s strength?" Under the scrutiny of his pervasive spiritual scan, Ah Yu indeed showed no unusual emotional fluctuations, which indicated she was most likely speaking from the heart.

"He has Tier Three Spiritual Power. His strongest Soul Beast is a Lower Lord, and the rest are generally War Generals. He is the most powerful individual in our branch of the clan."

"He’s probably not the most powerful anymore, is he?" Han Ning asked, looking at Ah Yu with a faint, teasing smile.

"Um... Thank you for your guidance, Lord Han Ning." Ah Yu looked a little embarrassed and bowed to Han Ning once more.

Han Ning recalled how Ah Yu had indeed made immense contributions to the team recently. She had been the primary artist for nearly ten percent of the Dark Spiritual Array on Grey, and in her spare time, she had proactively taught the newer members. And so, he nodded.

"Since you’re the one recommending him, I’ll give him one chance, just as I did for you when you first joined. You know the rules. I don’t want any newcomers getting involved in trivial matters unrelated to their studies."

"I understand..."

As they were speaking, a powerful fluctuation of Spiritual Energy suddenly pulsed from the distant horizon.

The two of them immediately fell silent and turned to look.

There, more than a dozen kilometers away, a long, wide fissure suddenly tore open in the deep purple, flickering curtain of fire. A colossal Giant Beast slowly squeezed its way through the opening.

"HUUUUUMMM~"

The sound, like the blast of a foghorn mixed with the roar of a wild bull, echoed throughout all of Night Nether City.

The Giant Beast was over 1,300 meters long and stood hundreds of meters tall. Slabs of ghastly white Bone Shields, like the hardest armor, covered the vital parts of its body.

The broad surfaces of the Bone Shields were etched with dense, multicolored Runes that linked together. As the Spiritual Light on them flickered, vast amounts of Spiritual Energy gathered from all directions, forming a roiling Spiritual Tide that radiated outwards with terrifying might.

The surging Spiritual Pressure caused the surrounding walls of fire to recoil, parting like soldiers before their King.

Even though this scene had repeated itself dozens, if not hundreds, of times in Night Nether City, passing Beast Masters still stopped in their tracks to gaze upon the overwhelmingly oppressive sight.

"Mengting and Grey are back!" Ah Yu’s face lit up with joy as she silently stepped back to stand behind Han Ning, like a sharp and capable Attendant.

Grey was one of the navigation Soul Beasts designated by the Alataku People, so the Wall of Nether Fire naturally couldn’t stop its passage.

In the time it took them to exchange a few sentences, Grey—looking like an alien warship from a science fiction film descending from the heavens—slowly landed on its designated platform, wreathed in a tide of Spiritual Energy.

"HUUUUUMMM~"

Grey had just steadied its massive form when it "smelled" a familiar scent within the dissipating Spiritual Energy.

It turned its pure, flawless black eyes, its gaze crossing a distance of several kilometers. Despite the layers of buildings in the way, its eyes instantly locked onto Han Ning, and it let out a series of happy, whale-like calls.

As the joyous calls echoed through Night Nether City, a young woman sitting atop Grey’s head saw this and couldn’t help but pat it gently. She laughed and said:

"Grey, why are you so happy today?"

"Huuu~"

"Oh? Is Han Ning back? No wonder!"

The woman understood. Then, with a push of her feet, she leaped down from Grey’s head, which was as vast as a plain.

A strong wind rushed up to meet her, sending strands of her hair flying in every direction.

Suddenly, a few sparks of electricity flashed in mid-air. A jet-black figure shot past, catching the woman securely. In just a few ghost-like leaps, the figure landed in front of Han Ning.
