Chapter 445: Chapter 298: Celestial Sea 2

"This is quite nice. Master Gu certainly has a knack for architecture." Even Han Ning, who was accustomed to seeing ancient buildings, couldn’t help but offer his praise.

Master Gu was from Xia Country and had crossed over with the cruise ship. He had worked as an architect for many years.

Whether he truly deserved the title of "Master" was debatable, but it was the polite name everyone used for him.

The Cloud Sea Pavilion featured green tiles, red roof beams, and soaring, upturned eaves. Its wooden doors and window lattices were intricately carved and painted with figures, flowers, and birds, giving it a very high-end look.

"Ah, the man of the hour is here! Quick, come on in!" Seeing Han Ning arrive, the crowd already waiting in the main hall greeted him warmly.

"You’re all too kind. Let’s head up," Han Ning said with a sheepish smile.

From the upper floors, the windows offered a view of the boundless, deep blue ocean. A fresh sea breeze, filtering through the defensive barrier, brushed against their cheeks, an invigorating and pleasant sensation.

Many guests had been invited to the noon banquet. In attendance were over a dozen members of the human leadership, ten Dragon Blood Elders, Ah Yu, and the High Priest of the Hexagon Race, accompanied by two of his people.

The guests alone filled three tables. Each large, solid-wood table was laden with an array of specialty dishes from both the humans and the Dragon Blood People.

As for why there were no Hexagon Race delicacies, the rumor was that their cuisine was too... unconventional. They feared the Beast Masters of the other two races wouldn’t be able to stomach it, so none was served.

"Han Ning, come and try these! This is a Kung Pao dish made with Feathered Scale Bird, a specialty from the Jade Forest. And this is cream-baked giant rock snail, made with milk from a Cyan Mane Ox. They’re all based on famous Chinese and Western dishes from Blue Star," Teacher Liang said with a warm smile, beckoning Han Ning to sit and pointing to the fragrant, steaming food on the table.

"I’ve been looking forward to it." They were all comrades who had fought side-by-side, so there was no need for excessive formalities. At Teacher Liang’s prompting, Han Ning picked up a piece of the diced meat from the Otherworld creature and savored it.

"Mm... The texture is nice. It’s very firm and has more umami than chicken. With this kind of resilience, though, I suspect only Beast Masters like us could chew it properly," Han Ning commented after a bite, nodding in satisfaction.

"CHEEP! CHEEP!" Squatting on his shoulder, the little foodie Egg Pancake stared at the meat on its master’s plate. The rich aroma was so enticing it was practically drooling.

"We don’t have any chickens or ducks from Blue Star here, so we have to make do with similar creatures. Fortunately, the flavor is about eighty percent the same. And look at our Dragon Blood friends—they seem to love it," Teacher Liang said with a gentle smile.

She was a biotechnology teacher and had previously been using her expertise to lead improvements on the Concentration Liquid, making significant contributions to increasing the Spiritual Power of the academy’s Beast Masters.

This culinary experimentation, it seemed, was a personal hobby of Teacher Liang’s.

As the two of them spoke in low voices, they noticed that several of the Dragon Blood People beside them, including Qing Fan, had long since stopped talking, completely engrossed in savoring the meal.

"You should also try these specialty Dragon Blood dishes. Ingredients are limited aboard the Gray Demon Whale, so we can only manage some of their more common, home-style meals," Teacher Liang said, pointing to several other plates.

Compared to the refined cuisine prepared by the humans, the Dragon Blood specialty dishes were much more rustic in appearance.

There was a huge bird leg, roasted black and slathered in a special Dragon Blood sauce.

And a Senhai Forest Frog, split open from the belly and served completely raw.

Han Ning tried a few bites of each. He couldn’t say they were bad, but they weren’t exactly delicious, either. All in all, they were just mediocre.

After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, they all leaned back in their chairs in satisfaction.

For some time now, everyone had been subsisting on standard-issue rations. They might get a specially prepared meal on rare occasions, but they’d never had a feast with so many delicious dishes.

"Ahem. Han Ning..." Leon took a sip of a special Spirit Fruit beverage and began to discuss official business. "According to the flight plan on the navigation charts, we’ll be at the halfway point of our journey in about seven days. When that happens, we’ll need to make a necessary stop for rest and repairs."

"Grey has been traveling nonstop for over a month and is nearing physical and mental exhaustion. It’ll need about three days to recover. At the same time, we need to perform comprehensive maintenance and repairs on all the Spiritual Arrays and detection equipment, as well as restock on supplies wherever we stop."

"The planned stop is Pagji Island in the Celestial Sea. It’s on the outer edge of a Subspace storm zone, but it’s also one of the few nearby areas that are spatially stable. We expect to find a fair number of traveling Beast Masters and Soul Beasts taking refuge there. If we run into these Beast Masters from the new world, how should we approach them?"

According to Sage, the climate of the Celestial Sea was volatile, and its waters were a deep blue, almost black. The Soul Beasts and several sapient races that lived in the sea all possessed a strange, demonic quality.

They were brutal by nature and reveled in slaughter.

The largest and most prominent sapient race living in the Celestial Sea region was called the Deep Sea Race.

They were masters at commanding all sorts of Sea Soul Beasts, lived beneath the waves, and constantly terrorized the creatures on the islands.

Han Ning understood what Leon was really worried about: what would happen if they ran into the Deep Sea Race.

But stopping to rest was crucial. If Grey didn’t recover properly, it would directly impact the safety of the second half of their journey.

"Sage and Teacher Hom were active several thousand years ago. None of us know what the Purple Crystal World is like now," Han Ning said after a moment of thought, offering his suggestion. "I think we should try sending a few scouting Soul Beasts to infiltrate Pagji Island a day or two ahead of our arrival. We can investigate the situation there and then decide how to proceed."
