Chapter 1332: Chapter 1332: Mr. Saxon Returned a While Ago

--

After Scarlett Yates returned to her room, she took out her phone and made a call to the hospital.

Soon, the call was connected, and a sweet and gentle female voice came from the phone: "This is xx hospital, how can we help you?"

"I’m looking for Matthew Saxon." Scarlett Yates held the phone and walked to the window, reaching out to pull open the curtains.

The window was tightly shut, and the room felt a bit stuffy. She pushed the window open a crack, allowing fresh air to flow in.

The night breeze was a bit chilly, carrying a slight dampness that brushed against her face.

She felt a coolness at the corner of her eyes too. When she reached up to touch it, she realized it was tears.

The warm tears slid out of her eyes, becoming cool as the wind blew on them.

She thought she wouldn’t cry, for such a man who treated her like a commodity, since when had her tears become so cheap?

Once she returned to Z City, she figured she would never come to A Country again. She would pretend Noah Yates was dead and never see him again.

This trip to A Country was just a ridiculous dream after all.

"May I ask who you are..." The person on the other end paused for a few seconds after hearing she wanted to find Matthew Saxon, then their tone suddenly became nuanced and vaguely suspicious, as if they were being cautious of her.

The hospital staff were all following Noah Yates’ instructions, so Scarlett Yates wasn’t surprised by this.

She opened the window wider, letting more wind blow in, took a deep breath, and gazed at the pitch-black night outside, speaking softly: "I am Noah Yates’ daughter. I have been to the hospital before, ask Matthew Saxon to answer the phone, I have something to discuss with him."

"He’s already gone back, right?" Thinking of something, she quickly asked another question.

"Mr. Saxon returned a while ago."

Scarlett Yates felt a slight relief, unconsciously exhaling and patting her chest: "Then let him take the call."

Matthew Saxon didn’t have any communication devices on him.

Scarlett Yates called the department phone, which was not far from Matthew Saxon’s ward, just a minute or two’s walk away.

The person on the other end paused for a while, as if hesitating whether to let Matthew Saxon take the call.

"What do you mean, I’ve visited him several times at the hospital, and now I can’t even have him take a call?" Scarlett Yates feigned anger, her voice instantly turning cold.

As her tone changed, the tone of the person on the other side immediately followed suit, instantly becoming apologetic: "Miss Yates, please don’t be angry. I’m afraid Mr. Saxon might be resting. Please wait a moment, I’ll go call him over."

The phone was set aside, and Scarlett Yates heard the nurse’s footsteps gradually fading away.

Before long, footsteps could be heard again, this time sounding somewhat disordered. One pair was slightly more stable, clearly a man’s footsteps.

Scarlett Yates instinctively grasped the phone tightly, suddenly feeling a bit nervous.

Actually, before making the call, she hadn’t thought about what to say, she just wanted to hear his voice, so she made the call.

When they were at the estate, she didn’t take seriously the harsh words Matthew Saxon said before leaving.

At the moment when he turned to look at her and their eyes met, Scarlett Yates knew he was just acting.

He had deliberately said those harsh words for Maxwell Saxon to hear.

So, she cooperated and played a deeply hurt, tragic role herself.

She wondered if Maxwell Saxon believed it. Scarlett Yates observed covertly that he seemed not to have suspected a thing.
