Once he had finished recovering, Lin Fan didn’t want to remain idle any longer.

Even though it seemed like the others wanted him to rest a bit longer, he still wanted to keep going. But since Lin Fan couldn’t beat all three of them forcing him to rest, the only thing that he could do was wander around this law enforcement pavilion.

The three of them knew that they wouldn’t be able to keep him from wandering around, so they were keeping his area of movement restricted. They didn’t want him going too far and causing even more trouble for himself.

Which was why they limited him to walking around in the law enforcement pavilion.

Lin Fan didn’t have a choice either, but it wasn’t as if he felt that there was anything that he could do in this law enforcement pavilion. In the first place, he had already obtained everything that he could have obtained from this place.

So in the end, it was a waste of time to just wander around it again.

But since he wasn’t able to leave, the only thing that Lin Fan could do was look for the souls of the array once more.

It wasn’t as if he was looking for something specific, he was just looking because there was nothing else to do. Even if he didn’t gain anything, it wasn’t as if he was losing anything from learning more about these souls.

Though whether they would talk to him...

"Why are they looking at me like this?" That was all that Lin Fan could think when he stepped into the room that all of the souls were gathered.

The moment that he stepped in, the souls had turned around to look at him with a strange look. Of course, it wasn’t as if he could understand what they were thinking while looking at him like that.

In the end, they even gathered around him as if they were interested in him all of a sudden.

The reason that Lin Fan didn’t panic was because he could see that Su Ling wasn’t reacting.

If Su Ling reacted, it meant that there was something wrong with the way that they were acting. But since Su Ling didn’t show any reaction at all, it should mean that there was no hostility behind their movements.

Though that still didn’t explain why they were acting like this.

After a long moment of silence, it felt like they were trying to say something. It was just that Lin Fan had no idea what it was that they were trying to say since it wasn’t as if they were communicating normally.

The only thing that they did was make gestures with their hands as if they were trying to say something.

But in the end, Lin Fan had no idea what it was that they were trying to say.

Seeing that Lin Fan wasn’t giving the reaction that they wanted, they stopped doing the same gestures and looked as if they were considering what they should do next. Since they weren’t able to communicate directly with Lin Fan, they chose the next best thing.

"So they’re asking me about what I know?" Lin Fan was surprised when he felt this from his connection with Su Ling.

However, he didn’t answer right away as he looked at the souls that were floating there around him. He was looking at them as if he was trying to figure out what the best thing to say to them was.

After all, he didn’t believe that they would ask something like this unless they wanted to hear a specific answer from him. But as for what that answer was, he had no idea at all.

That was until Lin Fan remembered what had changed recently.

Before this, they had completely ignored him and never gave him the time of day. So the fact that they were suddenly talking to him had to be related to what had changed recently.

So Lin Fan slowly said, "The disaster?"

He didn’t directly say it, but that was enough for the souls around him.

After all, this wasn’t something that could be talked about directly and it would cause punishment to fall if he were to say more than this. But the fact that he was able to say it in this tone showed that the restriction had been lifted to a certain extent for him.

So they suddenly came forward as if there were things that they wanted to say to him.

Before they could swarm Lin Fan, Su Ling actually came forward to stop them.

Seeing Su Ling getting in front of them like this seemed to bring the souls back to their senses as they realized the mistake that they made. They backed down and no longer swarmed Lin Fan, but it still seemed like there was something that they wanted from him.

It really seemed like they wanted him to do something for them.

Lin Fan had no idea what it was that they wanted from him, but it wasn’t as if he was against this. In fact, it was even considered a pleasant surprise to him that they would treat him this way now.

In the end, it was Su Ling that had helped them communicate with him even if it was a bit spotty because he wasn’t certain what they wanted.

Though nothing that they wanted was bad. In fact, they even wanted to form a contract with him which was something that he hadn’t expected at all.

It really was surprising just how much having a little something in common went. It was enough that they would want to work with him now.

After making these contracts, he was able to figure out the names of these disciples as well. But it was only the disciples that were willing to make a contract with him, there weren’t any of the elders that did so.

Though there were elders that came forward as if they were interested in him, they still didn’t step forward in the end.

But from the way that they looked at Lin Fan, he could tell that they did this for a reason.

"They’re protecting me?" Lin Fan was confused at first why the elders would look at him like this, but it didn’t take him long to figure out what it was that made them hesitate like this.

Even if the restrictions had been released a bit and he was able to learn a bit more about the disaster of the Dao Sect, it wasn’t as if he had learned the in depth information about this disaster.

There were still many specifics that he didn’t know.

There was no doubt that those specific things would be hidden in the deepest part of this law enforcement pavilion’s archives. That was a place that one could only reach with the authority of an elder from this law enforcement pavilion.

Which was why they didn’t form that contract with him.

It was simply not time for him to learn this information yet.

At the same time, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was looking for trouble. So it wasn’t as if he was taking the initiative to talk to the elders and let them access that place.

Last time, he had been suppressed to the point of almost dying just from figuring out one small clue. If he were to learn more information than this, there really was no telling what would happen to him.

When the time came, he might even know how he died.

In the grand scheme of things, Lin Fan wasn’t strong enough yet. He was still a small pawn on the grand chessboard that was the cultivation continent.

So trying to learn the secrets of the once giant Dao Sect and what involved the even greater upper realm was no different from seeking death. Lin Fan had no intention of doing something like this.

However, there was a part of Lin Fan that couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed.

Even if he didn’t want to access the archives of the law enforcement pavilion, he did want to access the armoury. That was the place where all of those artifacts were stored, things that he definitely could have used.

But if he wanted to access that, he would need the authority of the elder and there was nothing that he could do if they weren’t giving it to him.

So in the end, Lin Fan had to accept that he wouldn’t be able to get more out of this pleasant surprise.

Or that would have been the case if not for the new disciples that he contracted leading him to different cells. As for why they were leading him to the different cells, it was all because they were bringing him there for the same reason that Su Ling had done previously.

It turned out that each of the disciples had different areas that they were entrusted with, which meant that there were different cells that were in charge of locking.

So he was able to go to the different cells and collect all the different legacies that were left behind.

These were legacies that weren’t weaker than the ones that Su Ling had given him, so there was no doubt that he would be able to use these in the future.

There were even two that were on a different level than the others. These were legacies that even the elders could have used without a problem.

It really was an unexpected windfall for these legacies to land in his hands.
