Even though he was being held like this, it wasn’t hard for Lin Fan to release that slash to cut through the waterfall.
Even before the gap had formed, Ye Qing Huan had already started moving towards the waterfall. By the time the slash hit and the gap appeared, she was already diving forward with Lin Fan and Xiao Mu in hand.
As the waterfall closed, they could feel it closing right behind their toes.
It really was a close call, but they had made it because of Ye Qing Huan’s speed.
This time, the place that they appeared in was completely different.
Unlike before where there was only a simple cave that didn’t have anything, there was a proper corridor that appeared. This was a corridor that seemed like it had been specially built for this place.
It also showed that this was now a proper facility of the former Dao Sect.
"But there’s still no spiritual energy in this place?"
There wasn’t a single trace of spiritual energy that was in the air around them, almost as if there was something that drained it all away. Even though there was the waterfall that should have been providing the spiritual energy to this place.
Since this place was built like this, it should be the real training grounds of the Dao Sect higher ups.
"Could it be that there’s something wrong with this place?"
That was the conclusion that they reached in the end, but they couldn’t confirm anything with what was currently in front of them. So the only thing that they could do was continue forward to see if they could find anything.
After a while, they arrived in what seemed to be a hall.
There wasn’t a single thing that was in this hall either, but there were a few doors that were on the sides of the halls that seemed to lead to separate rooms.
Just from the appearance of the doors alone, it wasn’t as if they knew what was behind them. However, it wasn’t really hard to guess what should be behind these doors based on what this place was.
"Be careful." Ye Qing Huan said as she prepared herself for the reaction that came from the door opening.
Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head seeing how seriously she took this, but he also raised the token in his hand as if he was prepared for anything that happened.
In the end, there was nothing that happened.
"It’s just an empty room."
As they looked around the room, they could see that there wasn’t a single thing that was here. There wasn’t even some kind of mat for one to sit down and cultivate on.
But the most concerning thing was that there wasn’t a single trace of spiritual energy in this place.
Since this place was supposed to be a training room, it only made sense if it was filled with spiritual energy. It would have made sense if it was filled with almost as much spiritual energy as the oversaturated zones.
But in the end, there was nothing here at all.
It seemed like the only thing that was in this room was the door that led the way out.
"So was this the wrong place after all?" Lin Fan couldn’t help asking as he looked around the room.
In the end, it was Xiao Mu’s reminder that told him that there was more than met the eye.
"There’s a reaction from the token."
Lin Fan had been focused on the room that he forgot about the token that he was holding in his hand. But when he looked at it, he found that there was a faint glow that came from it.
It was almost as if the token was reacting to something that was in this room.
So holding the token up, he started moving around as if he was following the trail that this token was leading him. He was using the glow of the token itself to see what it was about this room that it was reacting to.
After walking around for a while, it seemed like the token was leading him to a wall.
Lin Fan didn’t know what it was about this wall that attracted the token at first, but then he couldn’t help thinking of what happened with the wall from before.
Which was why he raised the token up towards the wall while watching the glow around it. Only when the glow was the strongest did he press the token up against the wall to see if anything would happen.
"Do you wish to adjust the concentration of spiritual energy?"
That was the notification that appeared in front of him when he pressed the token up against the wall. It was just like a notification that one would receive from a computer panel that controlled the settings of this room.
It wasn’t as if this was Lin Fan’s first time seeing it either since he had seen a similar notification when he opened up those cages.
It was just that this certainly wasn’t what he had been expecting when he placed the token on the wall.
With a single thought, he chose to turn up the concentration of spiritual energy in the room.
As if by magic, there was spiritual energy that started pouring in from an unknown source. It seemed to just appear in the room with how it had suddenly filled the room.
"What did you do?" Ye Qing Huan asked, but Lin Fan just shook his head with a look that showed he didn’t actually know what happened.
When he looked closely, he could guess that it was some kind of array that was controlling the flow of spiritual energy into this room. But this wasn’t anything like the arrays that he had seen back in the Heavenly Demon Sect.
The arrays that they had him create were those spiritual energy gathering arrays that drew in spiritual energy. Only those weren’t advanced enough that it allowed the user to control just how much spiritual energy flowed into the room.
It certainly wasn’t advanced enough that it would allow them to completely stop the flow of spiritual energy.
"The arrays of the Dao Sect really are on a different level." Once again, Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were convinced by what they saw.
It was just that Lin Fan seemed to realize something completely different about this.
He hadn’t thought much of it at first, but it really was hard for him to ignore when it kept being shoved in his face like this.
"They’re incorporating technology into their arrays, aren’t they?"
No matter how he thought about it, it didn’t make sense that those notifications would keep appearing. Those weren’t things that should have existed in this cultivation world at all.
Those were clearly things that were created with technology, yet somehow they had been incorporated into the arrays of the Dao Sect.
If it wasn’t for the fact that he knew about the AI that was used to create Xiao Mu, he might not believe that the Dao Sect was capable of such a thing. But when there was Xiao Mu as a living example, it really was hard for him to ignore this.
"Just how much technology did they get from the other continent? And how were they able to incorporate all of that technology into these cultivation techniques?"
But the real question that was on Lin Fan’s mind was that if the Dao Sect was able to incorporate all of this technology into their cultivation techniques, then how far did they infiltrate the other continents.
The more that he looked into it, the more that it seemed like the Dao Sect had infiltrated more places than he thought.
If he was able to bring back even a bit of this technique, then it would certainly benefit the Heavenly Demon Sect in the future.
At that, Lin Fan couldn’t help looking at Xiao Mu.
It was just that Xiao Mu didn’t seem interested in this array in particular.
The way that Xiao Mu looked at it, it seemed like it already knew about this array.
Though it wasn’t as if Xiao Mu knew that it was in this place in particular, it was just that Xiao Mu had information about this array in its database.
"Can you replicate this?" Lin Fan couldn’t help asking Xiao Mu all of a sudden.
Xiao Mu just gave a simple shake of the head.
It didn’t even bother explaining why it wasn’t able to do so, not that Lin Fan needed this explanation in the first place.
Since there was nothing else that they could do in this room that was designed to cultivate, they had no choice but to leave this place be.
It really felt like it was a shame that they had come all this way and hadn’t found anything, but there was nothing that they could do.
There was a moment where Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan wanted to bring the Poison King and the Fire Fist King here to recover. The spiritual energy that was here would certainly be helpful to their recovery.
But in the end, they decided against that since there was no telling just what else was hiding in this place.
This place certainly wasn’t as safe as the law enforcement pavilion.
So they had no choice but to leave with a disappointed feeling filling them.
What they didn’t notice was that there was some kind of glow that came from this place and entered the token that Lin Fan held.
