Wizard: Building a Golem Legion From Zero
Chapter 441 - 429: Come Take a LookChapter 441: Chapter 429: Come Take a Look
The five Mecha models formed a complete combat system, ranging from low- to high-tier.
But the greatest challenge had only just begun.
"The removal of Witchcraft."
Those four words signified a long and arduous technological undertaking.
After working continuously for seventy-two hours in the main control room, Allen rubbed his aching temples—the old injury in his Sea of Spirit made high-intensity thinking a form of torture.
’This can’t go on.’ He made a decision on the spot.
"Jarvis."
[I am here.]
"Break down all non-core subsystems of the Steel Knight project into independent research projects. For example, ’A Study on the Sealing Properties of New Hydraulic Pistons,’ ’Low-Temperature Forging Techniques for High-Strength Alloys,’ ’Design of a Cockpit Shock-Absorption Structure’..."
"Package these projects as bounty missions and post them to the bounty board for the Wesley Refining Gold Award. Every mission should be marked with a reward high enough to tempt a professor from an Alchemy Academy."
Jarvis computed for three seconds.
[Decomposition and classification complete. Total non-core technical sub-projects: 3,247.]
"Set the bounties according to their difficulty level: simple projects, 500 to 2,000 Low-Level Magic Stones; medium projects, 5,000 to 20,000; difficult projects, 50,000 and up."
[...Commander, do you intend to have the entire kingdom’s scholars and artisans solve these sub-problems for you?]
"They get the bounties and accumulate technical knowledge. I get the solutions to remove the need for Witchcraft. We each get what we need."
Allen’s face was impassive. "More importantly, once they’ve solved these problems, they will be able to improve these systems with their own hands in the future. That, in itself, is a part of passing down the technology."
A single command.
Three thousand, two hundred and forty-seven bounty projects spread across Aiselan in a single day, broadcast through the Spirit Communication Tower network that now covered the entire kingdom. The notice reached every Alchemy School, every workshop, every research laboratory.
The entire kingdom’s technical community was in an uproar.
The total reward for these three-thousand-plus projects exceeded ten million Low-Level Magic Stones.
The bounties ignited not only greed, but also curiosity.
The projects covered more than thirty fields, including dynamics, materials science, fluid mechanics, precision machining, and advanced Alchemy Technology, all vaguely pointing toward an engineering project of breathtaking scale.
No one knew what it was.
But everyone wanted a piece of the pie.
At the Royal Alchemy University, professors canceled their vacations, forming teams with their students to tackle the projects.
Artisans in the workshop districts gathered, arguing until they were red in the face over a project to optimize the friction coefficient of a joint.
Young engineers in the border garrisons worked late into the night, competing fiercely over projects like the standardization of pipeline connectors.
Driven by the twin forces of massive rewards and the thirst for knowledge, the technological gears of a civilization began to spin faster.
And the one who had posted all those projects was sitting quietly in Cybertron’s main control room, busy with his own research while integrating the accepted solutions into the blueprints for the Steel Knight project.

「Time stretched on.」
One year. Two years. Three years.
For Allen, these three years were a relentless cycle of designing, testing, scrapping, and starting over.
For King William, these three years were an agony with no end in sight.
The Heart Eater Beast Tides arrived like clockwork each year. While not on the same scale as the cataclysm from three years prior, they were more frequent, and the probability of High-tier individuals appearing continued to climb.
Allen’s Golem Legion, stationed along the coastline, faithfully carried out its duties.
Every time a Beast Tide arrived, the steel defensive line formed by Spider Slayers, Storm Falcons, and Peacekeepers held the monsters back at the shoreline.
The corpses of the Heart Eaters piled up like mountains before being cleared away and incinerated by the Golems.
Watching the automated mechanical legions at work, the Aiselans felt a mix of gratitude and bitterness.
It was borrowed power, a fact William knew all too well.
For three years, the young King had weathered rebellions from the old nobility, panic among the populace, and doubt from his own military commanders, all while pushing forward industrialization with an almost dictatorial iron fist.
He signed hundreds of mandatory decrees.
He worked from dawn until deep into the night, his desk completely buried under documents awaiting his review.
Iron ore output, construction progress on the Alchemy Highway, training reports for the new batch of Engineers, the reallocation of the military budget...
Every item was a race against time.
In the dead of night, William would stand alone on the highest terrace of the royal palace, gazing toward the dark expanse of the western sea.
It had been three years since that promise.
Allen had said he would give them power.
Yet in three years, aside from those three-thousand-plus baffling technical projects, he had received nothing.
’Have we been abandoned?’
Such thoughts coiled around his heart like venomous snakes in the dead of night.
But every morning, as sunlight streamed into Golden Stone City, as the clang of hammers echoed from the workshop district, as young Engineers with exhausted yet excited faces flooded into the laboratories of the Royal Alchemy University—
William would force those thoughts down.
And then he would get back to work.
What he didn’t know was that on Cybertron, a certain Wizard had also worked continuously for three years without taking a single day of rest... though most of that time had been spent on his own research.
「Late autumn, the third year.」
Large Hangar 7, on the north side of Cybertron.
This hangar had been purpose-built three years ago, an expansion for the "Steel Knight" project.
Its vaulted ceiling was one hundred meters high, spacious enough to accommodate the simultaneous construction of five giant Mechas.
At that moment, searchlights mounted on the massive vaulted ceiling bathed the hangar in light as bright as day.
Five slumbering steel behemoths stood in silence.
The fresh paint on their armored surfaces still gave off a sharp, unpleasant smell.
On the far left was a Zaku, its entire body covered in thick, rounded armor plates, its right hand gripping a massive Thermic Axe.
The second machine was the "Unicorn," its lines as sharp as a blade. The empty modular port on its back awaited its first pack.
In the center stood "Gale Red," its three arms resting like slumbering sea serpents.
The fourth was "Eureka Striker." The muzzle of the Plasma Cannon on its right arm was a dark, deep void, while the blade of the Chainsaw Sword on its left was silently retracted within its arm plating.
On the far right, the seventy-nine-meter-tall "Gipsy Danger" was like a mountain come to life just by standing there. Even in standby mode, its steel frame radiated an overwhelming presence.
Allen floated in mid-air, level with Gipsy Danger’s cockpit.
He gazed silently at the five Mechas.
All three thousand, two hundred and forty-seven technical projects had been solved. Over nineteen hundred of them were completed by the Aiselans, with Allen himself finishing most of the remainder.
After thousands of simulated tests and twelve major overhauls to the structural framework, they were finally complete.
Finally complete.
[Prototype assembly process complete. All systems have passed self-diagnostics.]
Not a single component in these five machines required a Wizard to manufacture; they were purely products of industrial Alchemy.
Any team of well-educated Aiselan Alchemy Engineers could manufacture them independently, provided they had the blueprints and raw materials.
A slow smile touched the corners of Allen’s lips.
"Jarvis, send a message to William for me."
The silent Steel Giants.
"The message needs only three words."
"Come and see."
The Royal Palace, Golden Stone City.
Late at night.
William finished reviewing the last report on the border garrison’s troop rotation, rubbing his sore neck as he stood up.
The Magic Lamp on his desk flickered, and the Spirit Communication Terminal emitted a low chime.
’Another report from the front?’
He wearily reached out to open it.
Source: Cybertron.
Sender: Allen Wesren.
William’s hand froze.
Over the past three years, he had sent countless messages to Allen through the spirit communication network—inquiries, requests, even messages tinged with a pleading tone.
The reply was always the same:
"I’m working on it."
But the message tonight was different.
William stared at the three words, stunned. A moment later, he shot to his feet, his chair screeching as it scraped across the floor.
"Guards!" His voice echoed in the empty study.
"Ready the horses! We leave immediately!"
He didn’t even bother to change out of his day clothes, their cuffs worn and frayed, nor did he opt for his more comfortable alchemical carriage.
With only twelve of his personal Knights, William Aislan spurred his horse and charged into the night, disappearing into the cold, late autumn wind.
