Wizard: Building a Golem Legion From Zero
Chapter 477 - 466: How to Become a Morning Star WizardChapter 477: Chapter 466: How to Become a Morning Star Wizard
The viscous feeling and heavy pressure in the space receded like a quiet tide after Allen finished speaking.
Deep within the enormous pupil that reflected the birth and death of galaxies, something seemed to shift, like a vast galaxy adjusting its own trajectory.
Then, an extremely faint, yet clearly discernible sound echoed by Allen’s ear.
It sounded like... a soft chuckle.
"An interesting bit of sophistry."
Augustus’s gentle voice returned, but this time, it held a trace of genuine appreciation, like a chess master witnessing an opponent make a brilliant, unexpected move.
"A Dawn Star Level knowledge product... You’re very good at exploiting the rules. You’ve redefined a ’result’ as the end point of a ’process.’ You’re right. For a Morning Star, contemplating the next step is indeed the highest form of knowledge they require at that stage."
"Allen Wesren. I’m starting to like you."
Allen’s tense body finally dared to relax slightly. A cold sweat had already soaked the inner lining of his Wizard Robe—a physiological reaction his body hadn’t experienced in over forty years.
He had gambled correctly. The essence of this Moonlight Grand Mage was first a scholar, and second a ruler.
To a being who treated an entire Plane as an experimental field, a variable that could bring surprises was far more valuable than a cog that merely followed the rules.
"I know what you want: the cultivation direction for the Morning Star stage. So, listen closely. This knowledge is worth tens of thousands of Credit Points in the Association."
Augustus’s voice became solemn and majestic, no longer confined to Allen’s mind, but echoing throughout the entire Floating Island of flesh and blood.
Every nerve ganglion, every blood vessel, resonated in sync with his words, emitting a faint, blue glow.
"Ascending to Morning Star means a Wizard’s soul has once again undergone a qualitative leap. You are no longer lowly beings who simply borrow power from the Sea of Magical Power; you are beginning to truly understand this ocean."
"If mortals and apprentices live at the bottom of the sea, then Official Wizards have learned to swim freely within it. As for Morning Star Wizards, they have finally broken the surface for the first time and seen the sky full of stars."
"Those stars are the cornerstones of the universe, the rules by which the world operates. We call them—the Law."
Law!
That one word seemed to hold an indescribable power, making Allen’s very soul tremble.
"Therefore, from the Morning Star stage onward, the path of a Wizard is a path of seeking, understanding, and ultimately attesting to a ’Law’."
"This is also a path of sublimation, from ’technique’ to ’truth’."
"You no longer need to inscribe fixed Core Witchcraft into your souls as before. What you must do is choose a technique you are most skilled at and master it, study it to its absolute limit. When your technique touches the essence of the world, you will naturally ’see’ the star that belongs to you."
Augustus’s voice paused, as if giving Allen time to digest and understand.
"This process can be divided into three stages."
"The first stage is touching a Law. For example, when you touch the ’Law of Metal,’ which is most common in the Alchemy School. In an instant, you will comprehend the essence and properties of all metals in existence. Even metals you have never seen before will hold no secrets from you."
’A storm raged in Allen’s heart. This is no longer a matter of simple power; it’s an ascension to a higher plane of cognition.’
"The second stage is applying a Law. At this point, you will be able to alter certain inherent properties of metals to a limited extent. For instance, making iron as hard as diamond, or giving Gold the fluidity of mercury."
"The third stage, and the most crucial step—rewriting a Law."
Augustus’s tone became profound.
"At this step, you will have the ability to add a completely new property to metal. You could even create, from nothing, an entirely new metal that has never existed in the universe. You are no longer just a user of the rules; you become a... definer of the rules."
Defining the rules!
’Allen’s breath nearly stopped. This is true god-like power!’
"Every Morning Star Wizard can, at most, attest to three Laws in their lifetime."
Augustus’s voice rang like an alarm bell. "These three Laws, once chosen and attested to, can never be changed. They will constitute your future ’authority’ and determine whether you are qualified to glimpse the scenery of the Moonlight realm."
As his voice fell, the entire Floating Island sank into a long silence.
The amount of information was immense.
These words had completely overturned Allen’s understanding of the Wizard power system.
From apprentice to Second-level Wizard, the essence was the accumulation and application at the level of ’technique’—a quantitative stacking. But from Morning Star onward, it was a choice of the ’path’—a qualitative leap.
Three Laws determined the path of a lifetime.
Choose wrong, and you might be trapped at the Morning Star stage forever.
Choose right, and only then would you have a chance to contend for the Moonlight realm.
"So that’s how it is..." Allen murmured to himself. He finally understood why the Dawn Star Level knowledge and materials in the Association’s Credit Point store were so expensive. They weren’t just simple commodities; they were "signposts" on the paths to a Law.
"I have answered your request," Augustus’s voice returned to its gentle tone. "You may leave now."
The great eye suspended high in the sky, the flow of galaxies in its pupil began to slow, as if preparing to end the meeting.
Allen took a deep breath and bowed again. "Thank you for your generosity, Your Excellency, the President."
"Remember your promise. In five years, leave the Aiselan Plane."
A gap appeared in the formless Force Field enveloping the Floating Island, and the bridge of nerve bundles leading to the outside world became clearly visible before Allen once more.
Allen took another deep breath and gave one last, deep bow toward the giant eye that represented a myth.
"Thank you again for your guidance, Your Excellency, the President. I will never forget this favor."
After speaking, he turned without the slightest hesitation and set foot on the path back.
Just as he was about to step off the nerve bundle and leave the island of flesh and blood, Augustus’s gentle voice sounded behind him one last time.
"Allen Wesren, I am curious."
"When you have the chance to attest to a Law in the future, what will you choose?"
Allen’s steps faltered. Before he could even think of how to answer...
...the scene before his eyes suddenly twisted and stretched.
Space warped, and the stars shifted in their courses.
When his vision cleared, he was already back in Star Gate Square. A thousand Star Gates connecting to different Planes radiated brilliant light not far behind him.
The terrifying Floating Island made of flesh, nerves, and an eyeball seemed as if it had never existed.
If not for the trembling sensation of being crushed that still lingered in the depths of his soul, and the destiny-altering knowledge in his mind, Allen would have almost believed that everything had just been a bizarre, fantastical dream.
He stood on the spot, silent for a long time, then slowly raised his right hand and opened his palm.
Magic Power gathered in his palm, and Runes flickered at his fingertips.
In the past, he had seen these as tools, as means to an end.
But now, looking through these complex Runes and energy structures, he seemed to see the grander, more profound staircase to truth that lay behind them.
"The Law..."
Allen clenched his fist, his eyes shining with an unprecedented light. It was ambition, it was desire, and it was the fervent heat of exploration into the unknown.
