Chapter 144: Chapter 144: A Profound Foundation
"The entire White Sea Wizard World belongs to the academy. Every year, over ten thousand new students join. Take a guess—how many people do you think are making trades in the trading hall?"
The female apprentice said, looking at Andre with an air of superiority.
In the eyes of people from the Main Institute like her, those from the branch institutes were nothing but country bumpkins.
Andre nodded, then revealed his aura and handed several Memory Crystals imprinted with Divine Art inheritances to the female apprentice.
When the female apprentice sensed that Andre was an Official Wizard, the hint of mockery on her face instantly vanished, replaced by a serious expression.
She then respectfully listed each of the Divine Art inheritances for sale.
Soon, the Divine Art inheritances were all bought up.
Seeing that the Divine Art inheritances had been bought, Andre took out a few more Memory Crystals and handed them to the female apprentice.
After fifty such sales, the female apprentice stopped and signaled for Andre to pause.
"What’s wrong?" Andre looked at the female apprentice in surprise.
"Sir, no one is buying the inheritances you’ve listed for now. If you still wish to sell more, please wait a while before listing them again!"
At the female apprentice’s reminder, Andre nodded in understanding.
’That’s true. Each Divine Art inheritance costs 200,000 Medium Magic Stones. That’s not a low price, and very few people have that kind of capital.’
’Fifty Divine Art inheritances have already saturated the market.’
"Do you want to withdraw your funds or purchase other items?" the female apprentice asked.
"I’ll take a look first!" Andre turned and walked over to a Magic Energy Screen, then began browsing for the items he needed.
’Thanks to my teacher, I don’t need to custom-order a Star Realm Battleship and War Witchcraft Artifacts. But there are still some things I need to buy, especially items for dealing with world suppression when entering an Otherworld.’
Andre stared at the Magic Energy Screen, continuously browsing the items listed.
Perhaps because the expedition was about to begin, any related items were in extremely high demand.
Furthermore, every time an item appeared, it was bought within seconds—a minute at most.
Andre had his eye on several items, but they were all snatched up in a matter of seconds.
’As expected of the Main Institute. Occupying a Level 5 World, its resources run incredibly deep.’
Andre nodded as he watched the item information rapidly appear and disappear on the Magic Energy Screen.
He then walked up to the counter, activated his Eye of Truth, and watched the items appearing on the screen. He quickly chose two and asked the female apprentice to purchase them for him.
He had chosen to purchase two at once precisely because he was worried one of them would be snatched up by someone else.
Sure enough, just as he’d predicted, he only managed to acquire one of the two items he’d chosen; the other had already been snatched up.
"Well then, let’s keep going."
Andre watched the Magic Energy Screen, occasionally telling the female apprentice which items he wanted to buy.
As soon as she received a request, the female apprentice would purchase the item.
In the end, Andre tried to purchase 17 items, but the female apprentice only managed to secure 8 for him; a full 9 were snatched away by others first.
"Everyone at the Main Institute is loaded."
Andre sighed, looking at the Magic Energy Screen.
The items he was buying were all for use during the expedition, and each one was valued at around 100,000 Medium Magic Stones.
100,000 Medium Magic Stones—that price could buy two or three Witchcraft Artifacts. Although they’d be of lower quality, they would still be Witchcraft Artifacts.
After Andre completed the purchases, he had the female apprentice settle the payment for the items, then began to search for other things he needed.
And there were many more things he needed: Elemental Crystals, materials for making a Magic Robe and a Magic Staff, and supplies for cultivating his Frenzied Orcs and the Black Iron Giant Tribe.
’I’ll use these materials to reforge the Ten Thousand Laws Wheel, and also craft a Magic Robe and a Magic Staff.’
’Back at the academy, I rarely had to fight anyone, but once I get to the Otherworld, things won’t be so peaceful.’
As Andre picked out items, he thought about what could be used to strengthen the wheel.
Although he had already forged the Ten Thousand Laws Wheel, it was made from the materials he had on hand at the time, which were extremely limited.
Now that he was at the Main Institute and could purchase new materials, it was only natural that he would want to strengthen the Ten Thousand Laws Wheel.
In addition, a Magic Robe, boots, and a Magic Staff were also items that amplified a Wizard’s Power, so of course he needed them.
Andre looked at the Magic Energy Screen and, based on the needs of his own Chaos Magic Power, Seven Rings, Potato, the Frenzied Orcs, and the Black Iron Giant Tribe, he purchased over 30 different items, finally having the female apprentice deduct the cost.
And once the payment for these items was deducted, the 10 million Medium Magic Stones he had earned from selling the Divine Art inheritances instantly dwindled to 4 million.
"The expedition is about to begin, so the prices for all these things have gone up."
Andre sighed as he held the Magic Crystal Card, now containing 4 million Medium Magic Stones.
When the female apprentice heard Andre’s words, the corner of her mouth twitched.
’You made ten million Magic Stones in the blink of an eye and have only spent six million on over forty different items. The biggest expenses were the Elemental Crystals and supplies for cultivating your servant tribes.’
’Those things are expensive on any normal day. What does it have to do with the expedition?’
"Sigh... not much time left. I should get going."
Andre looked at the Magic Crystal Card in his hand and sighed.
He hadn’t wanted to buy so much, but he had no choice. He was running out of time.
He had two years left. In those two years, he had to forge Witchcraft Artifacts, concoct Magic Potions, and get the Black Iron Giant Tribe and the Frenzy Beastman Tribe settled.
At the same time, he had to join the ranks of the First Expeditionary Corps and get to know the other members. With so much to do, he really was short on time.
Andre put the Magic Crystal Card into his Storage Ring, then took his Token to the item pickup area, retrieved all the things he had purchased, and placed them in his Storage Ring.
He then left the trading hall and followed a map toward the Main Institute’s marketplace.
He wanted to see how the marketplace at the Main Institute differed from the one at the Senbai Branch.
A single glance was enough to see they were worlds apart.
At the Senbai Branch, the stalls were all run by Wizard Apprentices.
Here at the Main Institute, however, proper storefronts occupied the busiest parts of the marketplace, with Official Wizards personally overseeing each one.
Only beyond the storefronts did one find the various street stalls.
Andre walked toward the stalls, nodding continuously as he looked at the various items on display.
Compared to the things at the branch institute, the quality of these items was much higher.
’If I use Magic Plants from the Main Institute to concoct a Magic Potion, its efficacy would be ten to twenty percent stronger than one made with Magic Plants from the branch institute. That ten percent difference in efficacy could decide whether someone lives or dies.’
While in the marketplace, Andre purchased some Magic Plants needed for common Potions.
