Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Vying for Authority
"Radak... that name sounds familiar."
Piedra repeated the name, feeling like he had heard it somewhere before.
After saying it a few more times, Piedra’s eyes widened as he stared at Andre in shock.
"At a critical time like this, why would you join the Expeditionary Corps?"
Piedra couldn’t believe his eyes as he looked at Andre. That event was the most important thing for Andre’s lineage, yet here he was, joining the Expeditionary Corps?
He had never seen a move like this before.
"Joining the Expeditionary Corps was something I decided long ago."
Andre just smiled and shook his head.
"What are you two talking about?"
Rote and Karina were confused by the exchange between Piedra and Andre.
"His teacher is Radak, who was a prominent figure at the Main Institute. Later, he was injured during the Abyss War and left the Main Institute to recuperate at a branch institute."
"And Radak’s teacher is none other than Klein, the one who is about to break through and become the second Red Sun Great Wizard."
Piedra took a deep breath as he revealed Andre’s background.
Karina, Rote, Jessica, and Sander all stared at Andre, their mouths wide open.
They never imagined Andre’s background was so powerful, but at the same time, a question arose.
Logically, as the disciple of Klein’s disciple, Andre should be with Radak, witnessing the grand occasion of his grand-teacher’s breakthrough to become a Red Sun Great Wizard.
So why was Andre here, joining the Expeditionary Corps?
To a place this far, a round trip would take over twenty years.
By the time Andre conquered this world and returned to the Main Institute, his grand-teacher would have already become a Red Sun Great Wizard.
The birth of a Red Sun Great Wizard was a monumental event, yet Andre had simply given up the chance to witness it.
"Orders come from above, and we each have our assigned duties."
Andre didn’t seem to mind. ’After I developed my own Chaos Meditation Technique and mastered Chaos Magic Power, the breakthrough experiences of other Wizards became largely useless to me.’
’My breakthrough process is the reverse of other Wizards’.’
’Other Wizards build upon the Truth step by step, stacking it up.’
’But I use Chaos Magic Power as my foundation, integrating everything into it.’
’This difference meant that, aside from a few mandatory stages, the experiences of past Wizards were only useful to me for one thing: accumulating Truth.’
"Alright, let’s talk about how we’re going to conquer this world."
"Before we entered, you all should have seen the bloody light flashing on this world’s barrier."
"That bloody light indicates that the races in this world are extremely belligerent—in fact, ’belligerent’ doesn’t even begin to cover it."
"And that means we’re likely in for some trouble."
Andre abruptly changed the subject, steering the conversation back to the world they were in.
When Piedra, Karina, and the others saw Andre shift the focus to their current world, their expressions turned serious.
Expeditions were always dangerous. If they kept joking around and didn’t take it seriously, all six of them could end up stranded in this world forever.
"Generally, after entering a world, the first thing we do is use the Star Realm Battleship to observe the strength of the local races, then devise a conquest strategy based on their characteristics."
Piedra, as the Level 2 Wizard and the most senior of the six, spoke up.
"Then let’s start with reconnaissance, but at the same time, we need to establish our own expedition base. A reliable base will save us a lot of trouble during the campaign."
"We need to use the expedition base as a starting point to conquer this world," Andre said with a nod.
After Andre finished speaking, Karina, Sander, Piedra, and the Kunite Siblings exchanged glances, then nodded in agreement with Andre’s proposal.
Andre breathed a sigh of relief when he saw everyone agree with him.
’The only reason I revealed my background on the Morning Sky—that my teacher is Radak and my grand-teacher is Klein—was to seize control of the conversation.’
’Otherwise, the leadership would have certainly fallen into the hands of Piedra, the Level 2 Wizard.’
’And since my own breakthrough is at stake, I naturally couldn’t let someone else take the lead.’
’So, I revealed my background to temporarily secure leadership for myself.’
But whether he could maintain that leadership would depend on his next moves.
"I brought 3,000 servitors," Piedra announced with a nod.
"They are from the Tree-man Race. The Tree-man Race is a species many Wizards bring on expeditions. They can transform into trees and scout the world’s situation through the forests."
After Piedra finished, he looked at Sander.
Since they were going to conquer this world, they needed to understand the forces each of them had at their disposal.
Sander nodded and announced his own servitors.
"I brought 1,500 Rock Giants. They can move underground to scout the world’s situation."
After Sander spoke, he and Piedra turned to look at the siblings, Rote and Jessica.
A smile touched Rote’s lips as he revealed the servitors he and his sister had brought.
"I brought over 1,400. They are of the Water Spirit Race and can scout the world through its rivers and bodies of water."
"I brought fewer, only 900, but they are Gas People. They can turn into clouds and fly through the sky to scout the world."
After Jessica revealed her numbers, Sander, Piedra, and the others turned their gazes to Andre and Karina, who had yet to state their contributions.
"I only brought 300. They’re Black Goblins."
After speaking, Karina lowered her head, wishing the ground would open up and swallow her whole.
"I brought three thousand, split between two races," Andre said after Karina finished.
"One is the Black Iron Giant Tribe, and the other is the Frenzy Beastman Tribe."
"Besides the six of us, do any of you have forces at the Official Wizard level under your command?" Andre asked after revealing his own servitor races.
Sander and Piedra both nodded.
"My Tree-man Race has two individuals at the Official Wizard level."
"My Rock Giants have one."
After hearing from Piedra and Sander, Andre turned to look at Rote and Jessica. They both shook their heads, as did Karina.
"I have four," Andre stated.
When Andre announced the number "four," everyone except Karina—who already knew—was stunned by his resources. Sander, Piedra, and the Kunite Siblings were all shocked.
Four Level 1 Wizard-level combatants, all under Andre’s personal control.
Under these circumstances, even if Andre hadn’t revealed his background, the leadership of the group would have been his for the taking.
