Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 159: Each With Their Own ThoughtsChapter 159: Chapter 159: Each With Their Own Thoughts
"Using a potion is an option, but are you sure the one you’ve concocted can harm a Multi-Body Race expert on par with a Level 3 Wizard?"
Piedra looked at Andre, his voice laced with hesitation.
"That’s something we’ll have to test. But I do have a Potion that can harm a Level 3 Wizard. Unfortunately, I was short on resources and could only concoct two vials."
"Two vials won’t be enough. The Multi-Body Race—especially this Polytheist Race, which inherited a Divine Bloodline—has extremely high resistance to toxins. Even a poison that works on a Level 3 Wizard isn’t guaranteed to have any effect on them."
Sander looked at Andre and shook his head.
"Then I’m out of ideas!"
Andre looked at Piedra and Sander, shaking his head helplessly.
As far as his current methods went, poison was his strongest asset.
"We’ll have to think of something else."
After a moment of contemplation, Piedra sighed helplessly.
"To know there’s a treasure but be unable to get it... it’s just agonizing."
Sander also shook his head helplessly, then got up and left. Piedra got up and left as well.
After the two of them left, Rote, Jessica, and Karina turned to look at Andre.
"What are you three up to?" Andre looked at their reactions and instantly understood. ’These three have already teamed up.’
"The Divine Treasure that Piedra and Sander are talking about is all well and good, but for us, it’s still too far out of reach."
Rote was the first to speak, his eyes fixed eagerly on Andre.
His stare gave Andre goosebumps.
"You three already have another plan!"
Andre rubbed his arm, looking at the three who had clearly teamed up.
"You already figured it out!"
Jessica’s eyes widened, her mouth slightly agape as she stared at Andre.
"Your tells are too obvious. When you talk, Karina’s blinking speed increases. When Rote talks, your fingers scratch your palm. When Karina talks, Rote frowns."
"If it only happened once or twice, I’d let it slide, but your little tells didn’t stop for that entire conversation."
"Also, when I got back, Karina gave me our prearranged signal, which tipped me off."
"And that signal meant that Piedra and Sander had already tried to win her over."
"Otherwise, why would I have taken out this jar to distract them?"
Andre put the lid back on the jar, resealing the wisp of Bloodline Power. At the same time, he made a hand sign with his left hand: index and ring fingers curled, while the thumb, middle, and pinky fingers were extended.
"You two have been in cahoots this whole time!"
Jessica stared at Karina in shock.
"What do you mean ’in cahoots’? Karina was a broker back at the academy; her business is selling information."
"Besides, I saved her life once. Plus, she owes me quite a bit. This is just her way of paying me back."
Andre put the jar away and said to the shocked Jessica.
At the same time, he glanced out of the corner of his eye toward Piedra and Sander’s rooms. ’If I’m not mistaken,’ he thought, ’those two are probably discussing how to find what that Divine Spirit left behind.’
"Alright, let’s drop it. Let’s talk about the business between us."
Rote glanced at Jessica, steering the conversation back on track.
"What do you say we use your poisons as our primary tool and capture this world’s Magical Beasts together?"
Rote explained the business deal between him, his sister, and Karina. He was bringing it up because he wanted to pull Andre into their group.
’As for following Piedra and Sander to search for some treasure, no way. He wasn’t about to do that.’
’That would just be signing up to be their cannon fodder.’
Piedra and Sander, along with the servants they controlled, already accounted for half the strength of the six of them.
’Even though Andre had three servants with the combat power of Level 1 Wizards... Piedra was a Level 2 Wizard. It would take all four of them just to hold him off.’
’Not to mention, Piedra had Sander and three other servants with him. Those three servants alone could keep Andre’s occupied.’
’With Andre’s servants tied down, Sander would be free to attack at full strength.’
’At that point, whatever Piedra and Sander wanted, they would have no choice but to obey.’
’But thankfully, Andre had revealed he was Radak’s disciple—and by extension, Klein’s grand-disciple. That made the two of them hesitate to act rashly, giving the rest of them some freedom.’
For that alone, Rote was incredibly grateful to Andre.
Now, if they wanted to break free from Piedra and Sander’s influence and run their own little operation, they had to bring Andre on board.
Otherwise, if Piedra and Sander decided to throw their weight around and demand a share of the profits, he and his sister wouldn’t be able to resist at all.
"That’s not a problem, but do you have enough contracts?"
"The kind that can restrain a Magical Beast a full Realm higher than yourselves?"
Andre listened to Rote and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"We don’t have to focus all our efforts on Magical Beasts that are stronger than us."
"We can target ones at the same Realm as us, or even their young."
"As for the Divine Treasure, to hell with that."
Rote shook his head, his expression growing determined as he spoke to Andre with conviction.
"Are you that confident?"
Listening to Rote, Andre finally understood his true meaning. ’He wants to ditch Piedra and Sander.’
"When we left our family, we’d already considered what kind of business we’d conduct in the Otherworld. That’s why we each brought one hundred Master-Servant Contracts with us."
"As for expeditions and whatnot, that’s something for Morning Star Great Wizards or even Moonlight Great Mages to worry about."
"We’re all just Level 1 Wizards. In the Otherworld, we’re incredibly weak. The most important thing is to acquire things that can help us continue our search for the Truth."
Rote looked at Andre and Karina, his expression exceptionally earnest as he spoke.
"I feel the same way!" Karina added with a nod after Rote finished.
"Two hundred Master-Servant Scrolls is certainly enough, but even if the four of us took fifty each, our Souls couldn’t handle the strain."
After understanding the trio’s objective, Andre nodded but also pointed out the problem.
Rote’s plan was a good one, but every person’s Soul has a limited capacity.
Signing fifty Master-Servant Contracts would tear their Souls apart.
"I wonder, have you ever heard of something called a Racial Nest? I brought six, and Jessica brought four."
In response to Andre’s question, a smile touched the corners of Rote’s lips.
"You even brought things like that with you?"
Andre’s eyes widened as he stared at Rote in utter disbelief.
