"Then why did you write so many notes?"
De Ken looked at Andre, about to argue the point.
But then he remembered what Landra had just said.
'Andre is a Master Alchemist. As an Alchemist in a new world, it's only natural for him to research the local Magic Plants.'
'If Andre *didn't* do this, then he would have grounds to question whether he was a real Alchemist.'
"These notes will reduce your workload by 70%. All that's left for you is to collect samples according to my notes, then come back to concoct Potions and test their efficacy."
"If you still want me to stay here and help you during this phase, aren't you being a little too lazy?"
Andre said, scratching his head as he looked at Landra.
He had a temper, too. As a Master Alchemist, his time was exceptionally valuable.
Right now, during this expedition, everything had to be for the sake of the mission.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have bothered to share his notes at all.
These notes were his personal treasure. If his own grand-master had asked for them, that would have been one thing.
'But Landra and her crew? Who the hell did they think they were?'
"Alright, then," Landra said, looking at Andre and nodding in resignation.
Her face was filled with regret.
Andre shot De Ken a sideways glance, then turned and left the laboratory.
Given his status, if he wanted to use a lab on the War Mother Ship, all he had to do was say the word to Red-haired Klein.
Given the high regard Red-haired Klein held him in, he could use anything on the War Mother Ship, save for a few of the large-scale Forbidden Weapons.
'Giving me attitude, constantly questioning me... do they think I'm a pushover?'
The moment Andre was gone, Landra's furious voice erupted from the lab.
"Who do you think you are, De Ken? Yes, you're a genius, and you have a bit of Talent in Pharmacy."
"But you're hardly the only genius at the institute, are you?"
"Do you have any idea how many geniuses emerge from the new blood the institute recruits each year?"
"A full ten percent!"
"If the institute recruits 10,000 people a year, that's 1,000 geniuses."
"And even if only ten percent of those 1,000 geniuses are gifted in Pharmacy, that's still 100 people."
"You've only just become a fully-fledged Alchemist. Instead of focusing on honing your knowledge of Pharmacy, you're questioning a Master Alchemist."
Landra's tirade made De Ken's face turn beet red.
"Team Leader, I didn't know, alright? Besides, he doesn't even look like a Master Alchemist!"
De Ken scrambled to defend himself.
"'You didn't know?' Is that supposed to be the end of it? When you were carrying the notes, didn't I tell you we should be thanking him for his help?"
"But what did you do? You just stood there holding the notes, relentlessly questioning him. And now look what's happened! You've driven him off in a rage."
"And what's this nonsense about 'not being able to tell from his appearance'? Does he need to stand in front of you with a rack of test tubes and brew a master-level Potion for you to finally recognize he's a Master Alchemist?!"
Landra was absolutely fuming.
If De Ken had offended any other Master Alchemist, it wouldn't have been the end of the world.
After a while, the Master Alchemist would forget De Ken even existed.
After all, Master Alchemists' time is far too precious. They have no time to waste on squabbles with someone like De Ken.
But Andre was different. He was the grand-disciple of Klein.
Right now, on this War Mother Ship, Klein's authority was absolute. And De Ken had just offended Andre.
If Andre didn't take this to heart, they would be fine.
But if he did, their entire experimental team would be ostracized by all the others. She might even lose her position as team leader.
"Team Leader, what should we do?"
At that, another young man on Landra's team looked at her and asked,
"Should we try to salvage the situation?"
"'Salvage it? How?' Do you have any idea what a massive gap there is between our status and his?"
"He's never been one to throw his weight around, but if he so much as hints at his background, people will bend over backward to take care of everything for him without him even having to say a word."
Landra was so exasperated with her subordinates she could have cried.
"Is he from the Morning Star Clan or something? Or the Moonlight Clan?"
Annie, whom Landra had mentioned earlier, stared at her in surprise.
Their team leader had encountered people from the so-called Morning Star Clan and Moonlight Clan before, but none had ever provoked such a fearful reaction from her.
"You all know that the institute recently saw the rise of a second Red Sun Great Wizard, right?"
Hearing Annie's question, Landra took a deep breath. She looked at the others, her expression utterly drained of life, and spoke.
As Landra brought this up, a dreadful premonition surfaced in Annie's mind.
"This Master Alchemist... he's the grand-disciple of that Red Sun Great Wizard—the disciple of his youngest disciple."
"He is also the most talented disciple in that Red Sun Great Wizard's lineage. It took him only thirty-three years to go from a Wizard neophyte to a Level 2 Wizard. On top of that, his achievements in Pharmacy have reached the level of a Master Alchemist."
"When faced with someone with such a boundless future, all you had to do was stand aside and keep your mouth shut. But no, you had to question him. You're lucky he's magnanimous and didn't make a scene. Otherwise, what would be waiting for you is suppression from the entire institute."
Landra's words scared De Ken to the point of tears.
"Team Leader, no... surely not? Would someone like that really come after us?"
Annie began to stutter as well.
"'Come after us?' He wouldn't have to lift a finger. All those people desperate to curry favor with his grand-master would take the initiative to deal with us themselves."
"Previously, the Dean's word was law in the institute. Why?"
"Because the Dean was the institute's only Red Sun Great Wizard."
"But now that Andre's grand-master has become the second Red Sun Great Wizard, half of the power within the institute will fall into his hands."
"Do you realize how much power that is? Whatever little bit of influence falls through the cracks of his grand-master's fingers would be enough to crush all of us."
"Right now, countless factions in the institute—the Morning Star Clan, even the Moonlight Clan—are scrambling to get on the good side of their lineage. And you? You decided to question him."
"I know you didn't know who he was, but *I'm* the one who brought him here! You didn't even show me any respect!"
Finally, Landra revealed the true reason for her fury.
She had personally invited Andre, only for one of her own subordinates to question him. What kind of impression would that leave on Andre? What would the other experimental teams think?
Once word got out that her own team members didn't respect her authority, how could she ever show her face again?
After all, she was a respected figure in the field of Pharmacy herself.
