Chapter 564 - 21: Rank, Fruit Position, Karma Position

Chapter 564: Chapter 21: Rank, Fruit Position, Karma Position

Upon hearing this, Hans and his partner felt a chill run down their spines. Neither dared to show the slightest hesitation.

"Yes, yes! Sir! I’ll take you right away! The boss should still be at the old spot right now."

"Right, right, please follow us, Sir! The path is a bit winding, but it’s definitely clean. We guarantee you’ll get to see the boss!"

The two quickly exchanged a glance. ’As long as this mysterious lord isn’t here specifically to meddle in what just happened, we’re good.’

As for the mother and daughter on the ground?

At that moment, in their eyes, the pair was worth less than dust. Why would they dare to pay them any mind?

They were terrified that any unnecessary action would be seen as a slight to Murphy, earning his displeasure and bringing a fatal disaster down upon them.

Hans even carefully used his body to block the view of Martha and her daughter, as if they were some kind of filth that would taint the lord’s gaze.

His partner had already stepped forward, making a gesture to lead the way.

Just when they thought the matter was over, Murphy’s voice rang out again.

"Bring them."

Hans was stunned for a moment before a sycophantic, "I-get-it" smile quickly spread across his face. He nodded repeatedly. "Understood! Understood! You have a discerning eye, my lord! This one may be a bit thin, but give her a good wash, send her to Old Weasel’s to be... conditioned... for a few days, and she’ll surely... hehe."

’He must have taken a fancy to the mother and daughter,’ he thought. ’Maybe he wants to take them back for his own pleasure, or sell them for a good price.’

It wasn’t uncommon among certain bigwigs with special tastes.

His partner’s face immediately lit up with comprehension as he hastily chimed in, "Right, right! Don’t mind that she’s filthy now, she’s got good bones! Don’t worry, my lord, we’ll get her cleaned up and send her over to you right away!"

Hearing these words, Martha’s eyes, which had been unfocused from blood loss and fear, were instantly filled with immense despair. She suddenly hugged her daughter tightly, pleading hoarsely, "No... Sir! I beg you! Please spare my Lina! I... I’ll go with you! I’ll do anything! I beg you..."

The little girl, Lina, was trembling all over with fear, clutching her mother’s clothes tightly. She didn’t even dare to cry anymore, just stared at Murphy in terror with wide, tear-filled eyes.

Murphy said coolly, "Oh, and I want them unharmed."

Hans said respectfully, "Yes, yes, yes! I understand! Unharmed! Absolutely unharmed!"

He turned and barked at his partner in a low voice, "What are you standing around for?! Didn’t you hear the lord’s command? Take them! Be gentle!"

His partner snapped out of it and hurried forward, but he no longer dared to be as rough as before.

The two of them tried to be as gentle as possible as they attempted to pull Martha and her daughter to their feet.

Martha still struggled and resisted, her eyes filled with distrust and an even deeper fear.

’She didn’t know what this lord in black truly intended, but from the rumors she’d heard, it couldn’t be anything good.’

"Don’t touch me... Don’t touch my child..." she resisted, blood from her forehead mixing with her tears as it streamed down her face.

Hans grew anxious, afraid that delaying would displease Murphy, and he subconsciously raised a hand to intimidate her.

"If you keep dawdling..." He hadn’t even finished his sentence.

"Don’t hit her," Murphy’s voice drifted over coolly.

Hans’s hand froze in mid-air. Cold sweat instantly broke out on his brow.

He quickly pulled his hand back, forcing a smile uglier than a grimace. He lowered his voice to Martha, half-threatening, half-coaxing:

"Did you hear that? The lord is showing mercy, letting you come along! This is a blessing from the heavens! Don’t be ungrateful, get up now! If you keep dawdling and piss off the lord, you’ll be in for a world of hurt! Behave now, and maybe you’ll have a way out of this alive!"

With his partner’s mix of pulling, persuading, and half-forced support, the limp, numbly despairing Martha and a terrified Lina who could barely walk were finally dragged to their feet, stumbling along behind the group.

They kept their heads down, not daring to look at anyone, as if they had already accepted their fate.

Uncle Scar and Ron followed silently behind Murphy, watching the scene unfold without a word.

And so, the group made their way through the dilapidated streets, led by Hans and his partner.

The two men walked ahead, bowing and scraping. They would occasionally glance back to throw a warning look at Martha and her daughter, urging them to keep up.

After about twenty minutes of walking, a building appeared ahead that was completely different from the surrounding low-slung wooden shacks.

It was a two-story brick and stone house. While it couldn’t be called luxurious, its exterior walls were coated in relatively neat plaster, and its windows had intact glass. In this area, it looked exceptionally grand and imposing.

Standing at the entrance were two guards in relatively decent clothes, their eyes vigilant. The bulging at their waists clearly indicated they were carrying weapons.

When they saw Hans’s group approaching, especially Murphy being respectfully led by the two men, the guards’ eyes immediately sharpened.

They didn’t relax their guard just because Murphy was well-dressed and seemed respectable.

They served a more respectable power, and it was the interests of those more respectable people that they guarded.

Any unfamiliar intruder who might bring trouble was an enemy.

"Hans, what’s going on? Who are these people?" a square-faced guard stepped forward and asked in a low voice, his gaze sweeping quickly over Murphy before glancing at the cowering mother and daughter and the grimy Uncle Scar and Ron behind them.

Hans, a smile plastered on his face, lowered his voice and said to the guard, "Pete, this is an honored guest here to see the boss! Be careful how you treat him! He might be a man of real ability."

The guard, Pete, his eyes flickering, said, "Is that so..."

He pondered for a moment, shot a look at his partner, then bowed slightly to Murphy, his tone a bit more polite than before. "If you would wait a moment, sir, allow me to go in and announce you."
