Wizard: My Skills Can Infinitely Break Through
Chapter 360 300: Overturning Clouds and Rain (4)From this day forward, any clandestine investigations into Ian would receive the tacit approval of the Elder Council... and perhaps even its protection.
She slowly straightened.
Morning light now flooded the banquet hall, and the twelve Rune Stone Pillars cast long shadows.
The three Elders resumed their seats and began to discuss the subsequent arrangements in low voices.
The eight heirs departed one after another.
Edwin was the quickest to leave, his back as rigid as a puppet's.
Adrian followed close behind, his steps so rushed that he nearly stumbled.
The other, lower-ranked heirs exchanged glances, their faces etched with a mixture of awe and trepidation.
Only Ashia paused as she passed Aidele.
The normally reserved fifth lady offered a rare, faint smile.
She said nothing, merely giving a slight nod before turning to leave.
Aidele watched until she disappeared through the doorway.
Then, she turned and walked toward a side door on the other side of the hall.
She pushed open the door, and a chilling gust of morning air rushed to meet her.
The thin mist had dissipated. Shops on both sides of the street were beginning to open, and the sound of carriage wheels rolling over the stone-paved road grew from a distant rumble to a nearby clatter.
She took a deep breath.
The icy air filled her lungs, carrying the sharp bite of early winter.
And yet, she felt this was the most refreshing morning she had experienced in three years.
"My Lady."
Naseng emerged from the shadows and reported in a low voice.
"The Law Enforcement Team has secured the Black Crow Alchemy Workshop and is in the process of auditing all assets under Edmund's name. We expect to complete the preliminary lockdown by sunset."
"Make it clean."
Aidele did not turn back, her voice soft.
"Seal away everything related to the Abyss separately. Especially... the written records."
Naseng's pupils constricted, but he quickly lowered his head.
"Yes." He turned and vanished at the mouth of the alley.
Aidele stood alone under the portico, the sleeves of her deep purple robes fluttering gently in the morning breeze.
She raised her hand, looking at the dark silver clan authority Token in her palm.
On the Token's surface, the Time Trace patterns shimmered with a soft luster in the morning light.
'Level Three Authority.'
As long as her father remained unconscious, this was the highest authority she could wield within the clan.
And now... no one could challenge this authority.
She slowly tightened her grip on the Token.
The cool Metal pressed into her palm, the sensation sharp and clear.
But she felt a burning heat in her chest.
It was the searing heat of an ambition, suppressed for three years, finally erupting.
"Aidele." A gentle voice came from behind her.
She spun around.
Ian had appeared behind her at some point, with Gaga perched on his shoulder, curled up and dozing.
He wore his simple gray robe and held a roll of Parchment, the morning light gilding the tips of his hair a pale gold.
He looked... just like an ordinary Level Two Wizard.
But Aidele knew better.
She had seen the sheer Concentration in his eyes in the Laboratory.
She had seen the faint glimmer of Order flowing from his fingertips as he analyzed the contamination patterns.
She had seen his expression, as placid as still water, when he faced the vessel of Level Three Contamination three floors beneath Wisteria Lane.
"You..."
She opened her mouth, but suddenly didn't know what to say.
'Thank him? Too inadequate.'
'Question him? Too foolish.'
In the end, she simply stared at him, her voice so soft it was almost a sigh.
"...Is everything taken care of?"
"Mm," Ian nodded, walking over to her.
He took out an even smaller dark silver Test Tube from within his robe, only about the size of a thumb.
The liquid flowing inside, however, was purer than any of the previous batches.
"Version three of the Soul Calming Potion, concentrated formula."
He handed it to Aidele.
"Give this to the Clan Leader. Remember to halve the dose. If the contamination level drops by more than five percent within three months, it means we're on the right track."
Aidele took the Test Tube, and the liquid felt faintly warm in her palm.
The vortex of Order within seemed to spin faster than that of any previous batch.
She could even feel a faint Spiritual Power resonance from the surface of the Test Tube.
"You..." She lifted her head, about to say something.
But Ian had already turned.
His gray robe billowed in the morning breeze as he walked toward the courtyard exit. On his shoulder, Gaga opened one eye, blinked at her, then curled back up.
"I'm going back to continue refining the formula," Ian's voice drifted back on the wind.
"If you need anything, have Gaga send a message."
His footsteps faded into the distance.
Aidele stood alone on the portico, watching his back disappear around the street corner.
The Test Tube in her palm was still warm, like a miniature star.
She suddenly recalled what Gaga had said the previous night when it delivered the Potion.
"Ian said... this is just the beginning."
'The beginning.'
She slowly tightened her grip on the Test Tube. Deep within her violet eyes, a cold flame ignited.
'Yes, this is just the beginning.'
'Edmund is down, but the source of his knowledge about the Abyss has yet to be found.'
'The Elder Council's stance remains unclear. The other competitors have gone to ground for now, but they will never be truly content.'
'Father is still unconscious.'
'And... there is still the mastermind hiding in the shadows, the one who provided Edmund with knowledge of the Abyssal Altar.'
'All of these problems still needed to be solved.'
