Wizard: My Skills Can Infinitely Break Through

Chapter 405 - 319: Honored Guest Elder Review: A Farce

The next morning, the rain had stopped, and the sky was a dreary gray.

Shallow puddles dotted the flagstone path of Wisteria Lane, reflecting the leaden-gray sky.

A few gray-feathered birds pecked at food scraps at the lane’s entrance, taking flight with a flutter of wings as someone approached.

Ian pushed open the main gate. Gaga, perched on his shoulder, was a little unhappy.

"Ian... I want to go play too..."

"Be good. Help me watch over this place, especially the altar underground. I don’t trust anyone else with it."

Ian coaxed softly, his gaze lifting toward the end of the street.

A wind funneled down the lane, carrying the damp chill of the recent rain and slipping past his collar.

He set off toward the Justice Clan’s administrative hall.

Soon, he arrived before the clan’s administrative hall.

It was unusually quiet today. The usual guards were not at the door.

In their place, two Level Two Wizards in Dark Silver Armor stood on either side, their gazes as sharp as a hawk’s.

’Hmm? Is some important figure visiting today?’

Ian grew wary and walked forward.

"Name and purpose."

"Ian Marcus. I’m here for the Honored Guest Elder review."

The guard took a palm-sized Crystal Plate from his coat and swiped his fingertips across it a few times.

The Crystal Plate glowed faintly, displaying an image of Ian’s temporary Honored Guest Elder insignia.

"You may enter."

The guard stepped aside, and the other moved forward to push open the massive doors.

The dim corridor behind the doors was fully lit with Crystal Stone Lamps today.

The light still wasn’t bright, but it was at least enough to make out the contours of the ancient stone patterns on the walls.

Ian entered. From behind the closed stone doors on either side, gazes still pierced through.

But today, those gazes held something more than they had the first time.

Curiosity, scrutiny, and... a trace of admiration.

Ian kept his eyes fixed forward and walked straight to the end of the corridor.

At the end was a five-meter-tall black Metal door. Light from the main hall shone through the crack.

He pushed the door open and entered. The hall was even more spacious than during his last visit.

The haphazardly arranged tables and chairs had been cleared away, leaving only an open space in the center.

Behind the counter sat the familiar middle-aged Warlock.

He wore a deep gray robe, a silver official’s insignia pinned to his chest. He was at Level Two Middle Stage, and his aura was solid.

His gaze was as shrewd and indifferent as ever, but today... there was a hint of constraint.

Ian’s gaze swept past the counter and landed on a high platform farther back.

There stood a large stone chair.

On the stone chair sat an old man in a grayish-white Long Robe.

The old man’s face was gaunt and his eye sockets were deep-set, but when his eyes opened, the very air in the hall seemed to freeze for a moment.

’Elder Soron is here... No wonder.’

It was this Elder who had used Trace Witchcraft in the banquet hall last time to detect the contamination on Edmund.

Aidele was seated in the gallery to the right of the platform.

She wore a formal, deep purple Long Robe. Her long hair was tied up with a silver hairpin, revealing a smooth forehead, and her expression was relaxed.

Their gazes met, and they nodded to each other.

To the left of the platform sat Edwin and his brother.

Edwin wore a silver-white Long Robe with purple trim. He held a teacup with an elegant posture, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Today, he had not requested an Elder from his own branch to be present.

Adrian sat beside him, his fingers tapping lightly against his knee.

Ian withdrew his gaze and walked to the center of the hall, coming to a stop.

The middle-aged official stood up from behind the counter. He pulled a yellowed Parchment form from a drawer and tapped the counter with a Rune Pen.

"Ian Marcus, temporary Honored Guest Elder, Number Seventy-Three."

His voice was dry, as if he were reading a regulation.

"First item of review: Identity Verification."

Ian took a roll of Parchment from his Dimension Ring and handed it over.

The paper recorded his "origin"—an Outer Island in the East Sea, from a Little Wizard Organization.

After advancing to Level Two Wizard, he had traveled widely, eventually arriving on the Central Continent and meeting Aidele.

All the information had been meticulously forged, complete with a coherent backstory, verifiable "witnesses," and even a rough map of the island’s location.

The middle-aged official took the Parchment, scanned it quickly, then picked up a Rune Pen and made a few marks on the form.

He took out a palm-sized Crystal Ball from under the counter.

"Activate it."

Ian infused a thread of his Spiritual Power into the Crystal Ball, and pale golden patterns lit up inside.

After three seconds, the patterns stabilized.

"Identity confirmed as authentic. No anomalies."

The middle-aged official took back the Crystal Ball and stamped the form with a silver seal.

"Verification passed."

A slight stir went through the hall.

On the platform, Elder Soron nodded slightly, his gaze falling on Ian with admiration.

Aidele’s fingers, which had been resting on her lap, relaxed slightly.

Edwin lifted his teacup and took a sip, a sinister glint flashing in the depths of his eyes.

"Second item of review: demonstration of contributions," the middle-aged official’s voice was still dry.

"Please present the contributions you have made to the clan during your time as an Honored Guest Elder."

From his Dimension Ring, Ian took out three silver Test Tubes. The liquid inside swirled with the luster of Starlight.

"Tier Two Purification Potions. They are exceptionally effective against contamination from the Abyss."

He then took out another roll of Parchment, on which the formula’s contents were written in dense script, every step clearly marked.

"This is the second version of the formula—an improved version. Its Purification efficiency is increased by thirty percent."

The hall fell silent in an instant.

Everyone’s eyes were fixed on those three Test Tubes and the formula.

The eyes of several Level Two Wizards standing in the corner immediately lit up.

"A Tier Two Purification Formula..."

"Effective against Abyss contamination..."

"That’s worth at least ten thousand Merit Points..."

"Aidele’s most capable aide..."

The sound of whispered conversations spread through the hall like a rising tide.
