Wizard: My Skills Can Infinitely Break Through
Chapter 415 - 323: First HeirThe very night Ian left, at the Justice Clan’s main residence.
Aidele’s study was brightly lit with candlelight.
Elder Soron and Elder Darcy sat across from her, their expressions grave.
A list was spread out on the desk, detailing several people who had been "problematic" during the last Honored Guest Elder review.
"The investigation is complete," Aidele said in a low voice.
"A Level One Wizard in charge of records accepted a bribe from Adrian’s people. Three mid-level Stewards involved in organizing the archives were also compromised."
Darcy’s gaze was icy. "Is the evidence conclusive?"
"It is," Soron nodded. "I acted personally and extracted some memories from their Souls."
"Good." Aidele stood up. "According to the clan’s rules, what is their punishment?"
"Bribing review personnel and interfering with an Honored Guest Elder’s assessment is a serious crime."
Elder Soron said, "The lightest sentence is to have their Cultivation crippled and be exiled from the clan. The most severe is death."
Aidele was silent for a moment before saying, "I recommend we cripple their Cultivation and exile them from the clan. Let them live."
The two Elders exchanged a look and nodded. "We agree."
"Then there are the Apprentices who testified," Aidele continued.
"They were deceived and unaware of the full situation, but they cannot be let off lightly. Thirty lashes for each of them, and then three years of labor in the mines."
"A fitting punishment."
Having dealt with these matters, Aidele’s gaze shifted to the window.
"Next... I should head to Silver Sail City State."
Elder Soron’s brow furrowed slightly. "You intend to go to the Hawkwood Clan personally?"
"Yes," Aidele nodded. "First, to question them about Collins’s overreach with the assassination attempt. Although they’ve already confined him, that’s not enough."
She sneered. "Second, to demand why they planted a mole within the Justice Clan."
’To be honest, every clan does this kind of thing. But once you’re caught, you have to pay the price.’
"Third, to demand compensation. The assassination attempt on an Honored Guest Elder and the planting of a mole—we’ll settle both accounts at once."
Elder Darcy pondered for a moment. "The Elder Council has already tacitly approved of you taking over core affairs. It’s fitting for you to go in your capacity as the ’first heir’."
Elder Soron smiled. "Excellent. Let the Hawkwoods see what kind of person the next Clan Leader of the Justice Clan will be."
The next day, Aidele, accompanied by Delia and a squad of elite Guards, traveled by carriage to Silver Sail City State.
Before departing, she made a trip to No. 7 Wisteria Lane, but Ian wasn’t there.
"He hasn’t returned yet?" Aidele’s brow furrowed slightly.
"No." Naseng stood outside the door. "Rest assured, Miss. I will keep a close watch on this place. The moment Honored Guest Elder Marcus returns, I will report to you immediately."
Aidele nodded and left a message.
"Tell him I’ve gone to Silver Sail City State. When I get back, I have something to discuss with him."
Naseng stood ramrod straight. "Yes, ma’am!"
The carriage drove off, disappearing at the end of the street.
Silver Sail City State.
The city, built by the sea, shimmered with a pale golden light in the morning sun. In the distance, the masts in the harbor stood as dense as a forest, with merchant ships endlessly coming and going.
As the most prosperous trade hub among the Seventeen Cities of the Eastern Border, Silver Sail City State’s wealth was evident from the ceaseless stream of merchant caravans at its gates.
Aidele’s carriage stopped at the city gates.
"Miss, we’ve arrived."
Delia lifted the carriage curtain and looked toward the gray-white castle that stood tall within the city.
The Hawkwood Clan’s main residence resembled a crouching behemoth, overlooking the entire city.
Aidele adjusted the collar of her deep purple long robe, her expression calm. "Let’s go."
The carriage started moving again, rolling over the stone slab road toward the castle.
She made no attempt to hide her movements on this trip, nor was there any need to.
A formal visit in her capacity as the first heir of the Justice Clan was a perfectly open and proper affair.
In front of the castle’s main gate, a middle-aged Steward in a dark blue long robe was already waiting.
He bowed, his attitude respectful yet neither servile nor arrogant.
"Miss Aidele, the Clan Leader awaits you in the council hall."
Aidele gave a slight nod and stepped through the main gate with Delia.
They crossed a wide courtyard, passed by fountains and sculptures, and arrived at the council hall deep within the castle.
The great doors were open, and seven or eight people were already seated inside.
Clan Leader Anton Hawke Wood sat in the main seat, flanked by several clan Elders. A few younger faces stood at the lower end of the hall, likely core disciples of the clan.
Collins was not among them.
Aidele’s gaze swept across the room, and she understood at once.
’Anton must have arranged this deliberately, keeping Collins away from this kind of meeting.’
"Niece Aidele, it’s been a while."
Anton Clan Leader stood up, a proper smile on his face. "Please, have a seat."
"You’re too kind, Uncle." Aidele gave a slight curtsy and sat in the guest’s seat.
A maidservant served tea and refreshments, then retreated in silence.
The atmosphere in the council hall seemed harmonious, but everyone knew that today’s visit was for more than just a simple chat to catch up.
After a few pleasantries, Aidele set down her teacup and got straight to the point.
"Uncle, I’ve taken the liberty of visiting today because there are a few matters I wish to inquire about."
Anton Clan Leader’s smile didn’t waver. "Please, speak."
"The first matter." Aidele took out a sealed Crystal from her robes and placed it gently on the table.
"Some days ago, my clan held a review ceremony for Honored Guest Elder Ian. During the process, a Level One Peak Guard suddenly detonated a Blast Core he was carrying in an assassination attempt."
Her tone was calm, as if she were recounting a matter that had nothing to do with her.
"Afterward, my clan’s Elder Soron personally took action and extracted memories from the Guard’s Soul.
Deep within his Soul... was the brand of your clan’s Shadow Guards."
The Crystal lit up, projecting an image into the air.
Elder Soron was shown pressing his hand to the Guard’s forehead. The Guard’s eyes showed a violent struggle, and then a blurry image appeared.
Amidst a dark blue glow, a complex badge was clearly visible—the exclusive brand of the Hawkwood Shadow Guards.
