The morning mist, like a milky-white veil, drifted slowly over the Wilderness.

The morning was especially chilly in the Eastern Territory’s Wilderness, and fine dewdrops clung to the tips of the grass.

Ian flew swiftly through the sky, a crystalline Shield around him deflecting the fierce winds.

Gaga crouched on his shoulder, its silver eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly.

The little creature’s silver eyes shimmered faintly in the morning mist, its wings tucked in.

"Ian..." it murmured, its voice very low.

"We’ve left East City. Did you leave a message for Aidele?"

"I did."

Ian replied, his gaze calm as he looked ahead.

The plains gradually gave way to rolling hills that snaked forward, disappearing into the dense fog.

Deep within his pupils, three Star Orbits spun silently. The Power of his Order Divine Body flowed slowly through him, like a dormant river of stars.

His Spiritual Power had already spread out, covering an area a hundred li in every direction.

As he flew, every inch of land, every tree, and the direction of every wisp of wind fell within his Perception.

There were no anomalies.

Fifteen li ahead was an abandoned post station.

’Almost there.’

According to the map Aidele had given him, it was once a waystation on the route from East City to Stormwind City.

It had been abandoned decades ago after a contamination plague, and now only crumbling walls and broken ramparts remained.

Soon, the silhouette of the ruined station grew distinct in the morning mist.

Collapsed earthen walls, dilapidated and roofless houses, and a courtyard overgrown with waist-high weeds.

A few charred wooden beams lay on the ground, covered in dark green moss.

Ian passed over the ruins, his Spiritual Power sweeping across the entire area.

"Gaga, someone... is waiting for us here."

Ian came to a sudden halt, his gaze dropping from the sky to the center of the courtyard.

There, the weeds showed signs of being trampled.

"Heh! Come on out. Don’t bother with such petty tricks in front of me."

Ian’s soft chuckle echoed through the empty ruins.

The wind blew through the wild grass with a faint RUSTLE.

One second, three seconds, five seconds...

Suddenly, the pile of collapsed stones in the corner of the courtyard shifted.

The stones slid slowly apart to reveal a hidden door, from which a middle-aged man emerged.

He looked to be around forty, dressed in a dark cyan Long Robe. His face was pale, his eye sockets were sunken, and his pupils were a murky grayish-brown.

He looked like a corpse that had just crawled out of its grave.

’Your aura... the Abyss!’

Ian’s pupils contracted.

The middle-aged man was a Level Three Wizard, and not a newly-advanced one with a shallow aura, but one whose presence was solidified by centuries of cultivation.

The middle-aged man stood in the center of the ruins and looked up at Ian.

A flicker of killing intent flashed deep within his murky pupils.

"The Justice Clan’s new Level Three Honored Guest Elder... Ian Marcus."

His voice was hoarse and grating, like a worn-out bellows.

Ian said nothing, simply watching him in silence.

The middle-aged man grinned, revealing a set of yellowed teeth.

"Do you know who I am?"

"I don’t want to know," Ian said, his eyes calm.

"Haha..." The middle-aged man suddenly burst into laughter.

His laughter was sharp and piercing, tinged with a suppressed madness.

"I am Edgar Justice. Titus Justice’s... older brother."

The moment he finished speaking, the cloying, sweet smell in the air suddenly intensified threefold!

Edgar slowly raised his right hand, palm open and facing up.

Fine, dark purple patterns surfaced on his skin.

The patterns writhed like living things, spreading from his palm to his wrist, and then up his arm.

"Over sixty years ago..." he said in a low voice, as if talking to himself.

"Titus and I were the most dazzling geniuses in the clan."

"We both broke through to Level Two in the same year, condensed our Elemental True Forms in the same year, and in the same year... we were named candidates for Clan Leader."

His gaze grew distant, as if he had returned to sixty years ago.

"But Titus was more ruthless than I. During the final trial, he shamelessly tricked me into a dangerous place, where I was severely wounded."

"By the time I struggled out of that trap... I learned that he had already accepted the appointment of Clan Leader."

Edgar’s voice grew lower and colder.

"I was eliminated. I went from being the clan’s most dazzling genius to a nobody that no one cared about."

"And Titus..."

He paused, and a bone-chilling hatred erupted from his murky pupils.

"He took the position of Clan Leader, he married the woman I loved, he fathered Aidele..."

"He took... everything from me!"

He practically roared the last few words.

The roar echoed through the ruins, startling Gaga so much that its feathers puffed up on Ian’s shoulder.

Ian’s expression remained calm. "So, you chose the Abyss."

Edgar grinned, a savage smile on his face.

"Yes... The great Abyss. It gave me Power, it gave me hope for revenge."

"It showed me... the Path of the Morning Star."

He raised his left hand, slowly bringing both hands together in front of his chest.

Palms facing each other, the dark purple patterns began to spread madly.

They were like countless vipers, struggling and screaming beneath his skin.

"The contamination in Titus’s body... I planted it."

"Edmund’s knowledge of the Abyss... I gave it to him."

"That parchment scroll on the 4th Floor of the Secret Vault... I put it there, too."

With each sentence, his aura surged.

Level Three Middle Stage... Level Three Late Stage... and finally, it stabilized at Level Three Peak!

He was just one step away from becoming a Level Four Morning Star!!!

"I’ve waited sixty years... and today has finally come."

Edgar’s voice became hollow and ethereal.

"I saw hope for my revenge..."

"Titus in a coma, Aidele driven from the clan, the clan itself in chaos..."

"But then... you had to show up!"

He stared at Ian, the killing intent in his murky pupils flaring once again.

"A Wild Wizard from some Eastern Border Island, exceeding my expectations time and time again."
