Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 873 - 779: Advancement to Level 2 Arcane Master

Duke stood on the stage, facing the four review committee members.

A dozen pairs of eyes watched him from the seats around.

Some were taking notes, some were whispering, some were adjusting instruments.

The hall was filled with an atmosphere of solemnity and tension, as if an important trial was taking place.

The level 5 Arcanist sitting in the center looked about sixty years old, with gray hair, a lean face, and wearing thin-framed crystal glasses.

He wore a dark blue magic robe, which had no excessive decor, only the level 5 Arcanist badge at the collar gleaming with a cold light under the lighting.

This was Aaron, the Level 5 Mage and Level 5 Arcanist of the Six-Ring Tower.

He was bowing his head, flipping through a document, not looking at Duke.

The first Level 4 Arcanist on Aaron’s left was a middle-aged witch, composed in appearance, with her hair neatly tied up, and before her lay a thick manual.

She occasionally looked up at Duke, her gaze calm and devoid of emotion.

The first Level 4 Arcanist on Aaron’s right was a middle-aged warlock, slightly plump with a ruddy complexion, holding an alchemy board, rapidly jotting notes.

His movements were quick, yet steady, clearly experienced.

The Level 4 Arcanist at the far end was a younger warlock, looking about thirty, handsome in appearance, but with a sharp gaze.

He leaned against the back of the chair, arms crossed in front of his chest, was scrutinizing Duke, with a trace of assessment in his eyes.

The hall quieted down.

The level 5 Arcanist, Mr. Aaron, closed the document, looked up, and turned his gaze towards Duke.

His gaze was very calm, without any sense of oppression, yet Duke could feel those eyes had assessed him from head to toe in just a few breaths.

"Lord Duke." His voice was not loud, but very clear, "If you are ready, then let’s begin."

Duke took a deep breath and nodded.

His hand at his side lightly clenched, then relaxed.

The review meeting began.

Aaron flipped open the document before him, which was Duke’s submitted thesis abstract.

"Please introduce your research findings, be concise."

Duke cleared his throat, his voice steady, lacking nervousness or haste, as if answering a professor’s question in class.

"The result I submitted is a complete implementation plan for achieving the automatic meditation characteristic of the White Mist Forest Potion. The core principle lies in the energy guidance technique during refining — through precise regulation of spiritual power fluctuations, a special energy structure is solidified in the potion at the moment of formation. When a consumer ingests this structure, their Spiritual Sea generates slight self-oscillation, enabling slow spiritual power growth without active meditation."

He paused, his gaze sweeping over the four committee members.

"This plan has undergone multiple validations, with all experimental data detailed in the thesis. Currently, I have successfully refined dozens of batches of White Mist Forest Potion with automatic meditation effects, each batch’s effect being stable and repeatable."

Aaron neither nodded nor shook his head, merely lowered his head to jot something down on the document.

The middle-aged witch to his left lifted her gaze, calmly looking at Duke.

"You mentioned the energy structure." Her voice wasn’t loud, but the pace was swift, "Please describe the form and operation of this structure specifically."

Duke did not hesitate.

"This structure is akin to a miniature vortex, formed by free energy particles in the potion arranged in a specific trajectory. Its operation method —" He raised his right hand, his fingertip drawing a spiral in the air, "Once the consumer’s spiritual power contacts this vortex, it gets driven by it and starts to rotate slowly. During the rotation, the spiritual power absorbs free energy particles from the surrounding environment, converting them into part of itself. The vortex itself will continue rotating until the potion’s effect wears off, without needing the consumer to actively guide."

The middle-aged witch nodded, recorded a few notes in the manual, and didn’t pursue further questions.

The middle-aged warlock on Aaron’s right set down the alchemy board and looked up.

His complexion was rosy, with a slight smile at the corner of his mouth when speaking, but the question was not light-hearted.

"You say this plan can be stably repeated, but I noticed the energy guidance technique mentioned in the thesis requires a very high level of precise control over spiritual power. How long does it take for an ordinary Level 1 Mage to master this technique?"

Duke had anticipated this question.

"Based on my estimates, a Level 1 Mage with adequate spiritual power and some experience in magic potion refining would take about one to three months practicing according to the steps in the thesis to master it. The specific duration depends on personal talent and practice intensity."

"One to three months?" The middle-aged warlock’s brow slightly raised, "Don’t you think this threshold is too high? If promoting it to the whole plane, how many mages do you think would be willing to spend one to three months learning a new technique?"

"The threshold is indeed not low." Duke did not shy away. "But the value of automatic meditation justifies the one to three months of investment. Moreover—" He paused, "If produced by professional large-scale potion refining institutions, ordinary mages won’t need to refine by themselves, they can directly purchase the finished product. Only a few core alchemists would truly need to master this technique."

The middle-aged warlock hesitated for a moment, then laughed.

"Indeed, that’s the case."

The young warlock at the far end had been leaning against the chair back the entire time, arms crossed in front of his chest, keenly watching Duke.

After the middle-aged warlock finished laughing, he slowly began to speak.
