Duke had previously learned from Robert that slightly farther from Azure Vault City, the Light Sect’s faith was no longer spreading.
Those areas are controlled by the Four Gods Sect, and even the followers of the secretive Shadow Council might outnumber those of the Light Sect.
This can’t continue; he still needs to rely on the Power of Faith to develop the Light God Court.
The fewer the believers, the lesser the Power of Faith.
In the room, several people deliberated for over an hour.
Finally, Bishop Ambrose looked at the three young people before him and remained silent for a long time.
His gaze moved from Duke to Dali, from Dali to Henry, and lastly back to Duke.
Those light gray eyes held an indescribable emotion.
Like watching a river change its course, knowing he couldn’t stop it, only able to watch it flow to the unknown distance.
"Alright." Bishop Ambrose’s voice was hoarse, "Do as you say. The Light Sect cannot retreat any further."
Henry suddenly raised his head, his eyes igniting with flames.
Dali slightly bowed, her golden hair slipping from her shoulder.
Duke stood up, walked to the window, and gazed at the gradually brightening sky outside: "Then prepare. We leave in three days."
Three days later, in the morning.
In front of the Light Sect headquarters in Azure Vault City, a group of people was ready to depart.
Fifty mages stood centrally in the team, wearing white magic robes with golden sun patterns embroidered on the hem, holding Magic Wands, the crystal stones on the wand heads glimmering with various colors in the morning light.
They are the backbone of the Light Sect; though few in number, each one is a Level 1 high-level mage, skilled in various battle magic.
Behind them were a hundred knights, clad in silver-white armor, waist belted with longswords, holding spears, their face masks lifted to reveal young and resolute faces.
Knights are tasked with protecting the mages and at times of necessity, charging into battle, but the true main force is the silent, steady-gazed casters.
At the rear of the team were fifty sect warriors, dressed in white battle robes, chest embroidered with golden sun emblems, carrying crossbows and shields, responsible for logistics and guard duties.
Bishop Ambrose stood at the Divine Hall entrance, gazing at the prepared-to-depart young individuals, his light gray eyes carrying a hint of complexity.
He said nothing, merely standing there like a weathered statue.
At the forefront of the team, Knight Henry rode a tall white warhorse, his armor gleaming coldly in the morning sunlight.
His face mask lifted, revealing that angular face, his deep brown eyes burning with battle intent.
A longsword hung at his waist, its scabbard engraved with the Light Sect’s emblem, the hilt wrapped in black leather, soaked with sweat, presenting a dim luster.
Knight Henry glanced back at the team behind him, then withdrew his gaze, looking forward.
"Light Sect, depart." His voice echoed through the plaza.
The team began to move.
The knights’ hoofbeats clattered crisply on the stone-paved road, a hundred-plus warhorses starting simultaneously, causing the ground to tremble slightly.
The mages stepped steadily, their magic robes fluttering lightly in the morning breeze, the wand heads’ crystal stones shimmering with various lights.
The warriors’ footsteps were uniformly synchronized, the clatter of armor like an ancient war song.
Duke was in the middle of the team, riding a white horse.
He had changed into a white gold-trimmed robe of the Light Sect, the hem embroidered with dense gold sun patterns, the collar and cuffs inlaid with silver threads.
It was his first time wearing such garments, somewhat uncomfortable but necessary.
The Child of Light must appear as the Child of Light.
No sword hung at his waist, nor did he wear armor beneath his robe, merely standing there like a sheathed sword. No
one knew his true capabilities, nor his real purpose for this journey.
In the eyes of those knights and mages, he was simply a sect envoy, a young person needing their protection.
Dali rode slightly behind Duke, her golden hair gently fluttering in the morning breeze, the tips brushing her pale cheeks.
She wore a white robe, the robe more formal than usual, the hem embroidered with intricate golden patterns, shimmering with fine light in the sun.
On her head was a silver diadem, with a pale gold gemstone embedded in the center, its soft glow glimmering in the morning light.
She didn’t hold a Magic Wand in her hand, instead hanging a short wand beside the saddle, the milky crystal stone on the wand head gently swaying with the horse’s steps.
She looked straight ahead, her gaze calm and determined, lips slightly pursed without uttering a word.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Azure Vault City, at the Star Embers Guild headquarters.
Robert wore silver-white light knight armor, waist belted with a longsword, with little decoration on the armor, only a Star Embers Guild emblem engraved at the chest.
Standing before him were three hundred players, all uniformly armored, weapons belted, and backpacks carried on their backs.
They were the core members of the Star Embers Guild, bound by contracts in reality, extremely obedient, extremely disciplined.
"Depart." Once everyone was ready, Robert spoke.
Three hundred people filed out, passing through alleys, bypassing the Divine Hall Plaza, leaving Azure Vault City via the south gate, their destination also being Stone Hammer City.
The Light Sect had barely left Azure Vault City for half a day when the Four Gods Sect’s leadership received the news.
A Wind Sect bishop stood before the altar, holding a communication crystal, a line of brief text emerging from the crystal: "Light Sect dispatches fifty mages, one hundred knights, fifty warriors, moving towards Stone Hammer City. Leading the troop Knight Henry, among the followers are Holy Daughter Dali, along with a white-robed youth, identity unknown."
