Duke noticed Mateo’s movements and wanted to see what this demigod-level mage was up to.

At the end of the extraction platform, Mateo stood on the edge of the magma lake, bowing his head to gaze at the churning dark red lava below.

The scorching gust swept past him, causing his gray-white robe to flap wildly, yet his body remained unmoving, like a statue.

What he was observing was not clear, or more precisely, he was using Spiritual Power to probe something.

Duke followed his line of sight to look down at the magma lake.

It was a sea of lava occupying most of the fortress base.

The surging magma emitted a dull roar, with huge bubbles continually rising and bursting on the surface, each rupture splashing dark red waves several meters high.

The temperature of the entire magma lake was incredibly high, even if separated by dozens of meters and multiple layers of defense, Duke could still feel the scorching heat that could instantly melt ordinary metal.

But this was only the surface.

Duke condensed his Spiritual Power into a line, cautiously probing towards the depths of the magma lake.

His Spiritual Power had just penetrated the magma surface when he immediately sensed a terrifying energy fluctuation.

It wasn’t just the temperature; high heat was merely the facade.

The depths of the magma contained intensely concentrated fire attribute Elemental Particles, so dense they almost formed a semi-liquid state.

Such a concentration of Elemental Particles itself created immense energy pressure, like an invisible deep sea, with pressure multiplying with each meter of descent.

What’s more troublesome is that these Elemental Particles are unstable.

They constantly collide, fission, and aggregate in the magma, each change releasing a small-scale energy shock.

Thousands of such shocks layered together formed an energy-level storm.

In this environment, the range and precision of Spiritual Power probing were severely limited, easily scattered or counterattacked by the violent energy flow if one were careless.

This wasn’t an environment that could be resisted simply by heat endurance.

Mere high temperatures could be blocked with Magic, but the ubiquitous Elemental Energy shocks would simultaneously act on the body, Spiritual Power, and internal Magic Power, with all three pressures combined, any breach in defense would instantly be crushed to smithereens.

Duke withdrew his Spiritual Power, estimating his endurance limit.

Having cultivated the Elemental Holy Body, his physical body was tempered to the strength of a Level 3 Life.

Bone density, muscle toughness, and organ resistance far exceeded those of the same level, significantly reducing the threat of mere high temperatures and energy shocks.

Ordinary Level 2 Mage would need to maintain multiple protective spells in such an environment, where any error would spell disaster, but Duke at least had one less worry.

However, being able to venture down and descending with ease are two different things.

He conservatively estimated, with his current strength, he could operate within the range below the magma surface at around a hundred meters.

At that depth, he had to remain highly vigilant at all times, and every step required his Spiritual Power to explore the situation ahead before progressing, with considerable Magic Power consumption.

Beyond this range, the risk would exponentially rise; a slight misstep would be beyond the salvation of a Level 3 body.

Unless he entered the Fire Element elementalization form.

In the elementalization form, the physical body transforms into a pure Fire Elemental Body, sharing the same origin and quality as the fire attribute Elemental Particles in the magma, those violent energy shocks would not only cease attacking him but rather consider him a kindred.

At that point, the magma lake would be nothing but a warm water domain to him, allowing free traversal.

At the moment Duke was calculating, Mateo acted.

The demigod-level mage stepped forward, paused at the edge of the extraction platform for a breath, and then leaped directly down.

Mateo’s body plunged like a red-hot blade slicing through butter, the magma surface only forming slight ripples before closing up.

The gray-white robe was enveloped in a layer of faint blue light at the moment of submersion, and then disappeared beneath the dark red lava.

Duke’s gaze locked tightly on Mateo’s disappearance point, even separated by dozens of meters and the surging magma, he could vaguely sense a powerful Spiritual Power signal rapidly moving deep into the magma.

Mateo dove at an extremely fast speed and soon escaped Duke’s Spiritual Power tracking range.

But before he completely vanished, Duke captured the direction of his Spiritual Power movement, slanting towards the southeast rather than straight down.

That direction happened to be the main battlefield location of the Black Stone Plain.

Mateo was executing the ultimate mission goal of this journey, to sever the energy channel below.

...

Meanwhile, southeast of the Black Stone Plain, about forty kilometers away from Molten Fire Fortress.

At the edge of a low dormant volcano, a figure stood there, looking towards the northwest.

It was an existence entirely different from any known life in the Four Spirits Elemental Plane.

He looked like a person, with a complete set of limbs, clear features, a slender and balanced physique, skin showing an extremely rare dark golden hue, reflecting a cold yet restrained metallic sheen in the gray daylight.

This lifeform’s appearance differed too greatly from the mainstream elemental body structure of the Four Spirits Elemental Plane, so much so that it seemed not to originate from this plane.

Yet the dark golden skin texture was not human flesh but appeared more like an extremely dense energy solidified into a state on the surface.
