Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 947 - 816: Returning to the Nightmare Plane

After securing the channels for other materials one by one, Duke’s days became quiet.

Every morning, he would sit in his old spot on the second floor of the library, flipping through documents related to the Nightmare Plane.

This wasn’t just last-minute preparation; he already had his plan for actions in the Nightmare Plane figured out, but he was merely ensuring the details before setting off.

In the afternoons, he returned to his dormitory in Zone 7, using his badge to reply to messages from the Commerce Association and others.

Harrison sent updates on the progress of the Eternal Ice collection daily, with the wording changing from "the team has set off" to "arrived at the Frost Plane forward base" and then "advancing into the depths of the eternal ice layer, expected to reach the working area within a week."

Messages from Oliver were much more concise; coordination for the Aurora True Liquid was in its final stage, and the Magic Potion Master agreed to relinquish, awaiting a suitable energy window to retrieve samples from the Aurora Plane.

Upon seeing these messages, Duke had nothing left but gratitude, waiting, and praying: praying that the advanced wizard team from the Giant Rock Commerce Association wouldn’t encounter the Frost Giant Beast beneath the eternal ice layer, and praying that the Magic Potion Master from the Star Dome Commerce Association wouldn’t face any accidents while retrieving the Aurora True Liquid.

Besides these materials, only Nightmare Dust needed to be collected by himself.

In the last few days before departure, Duke repeatedly simulated every detail of entering the Nightmare Plane, including the teleportation landing point, the duration of the safe house, lunar phase judgment methods, the mental power shielding technique needed during collection, and emergency retreat backup plans in the worst-case scenario.

He rehearsed each segment in his mind more than once, until he could walk through the entire process from start to finish with his eyes closed.

Of course, Duke could activate the Coordinates Earring directly in his dormitory at Six-Ring Tower, but he didn’t plan to do that.

Unlike ordinary teleportation arrays, the Coordinates Earring’s teleportation mechanism uses plane coordinates for direct plane transitions, rather than point-to-point transmission through stable space channels.

Such transitions would produce brief spatial disturbances simultaneously at both the departure and arrival points.

In the Wizard Plane, Six-Ring Tower’s Defense Magic Array covered the entire Central Islands, capturing and recording unauthorized plane teleportation activities.

Even though the teleportation fluctuations from the Coordinates Earring were extremely weak, Duke didn’t want to take that risk.

Moreover, the importance lay not in the departure, but the return.

He needed to ensure that even if troublesome entities followed him back, they wouldn’t fall directly into the Wizard Plane, making the Flower Sea Plane the best choice.

Duke used the teleportation array at Six-Ring Tower to leave the Central Islands, without telling anyone his specific destination.

Exiting Dusk City’s Teleportation Hall, the morning sun just happened to sprinkle over the buildings, casting a soft glow amidst the flitting pale golden pollen.

Duke didn’t linger in Dusk City, directly stepping onto the teleportation array leading to his manor.

The light of teleportation dissipated beneath him, and a scent mixed with the fragrance of thousands of flowers greeted him.

Duke was no stranger to this, promptly heading to his manor without pause.

The sky in the Flower Sea Plane was always a gentle shade of pastel purple, as if diluted grape juice had been smeared onto a canvas.

On the distant horizon, neon meadows shifted colors with the breeze, from indigo to emerald green, from orange to crimson, each transformation spreading like tides from one end of the meadow to the other, emitting a faint rustling sound.

In the flower sea directly ahead of the yard, the giant flower disks of the Heaven Blossom drooped, silent moon-white glows falling from their edges, casting mottled shadows on the grass.

Countless small spore organisms floated in the air, slowly dancing in the light beams filtered by the foliage canopy, like countless breathing particles of faint light.

Duke entered the manor familiarly, navigating to the basement, where three layers of Witch Array were already laid out.

But since he was going to the Nightmare Plane this time, three layers of the Witch Array wouldn’t suffice.

Duke retrieved two new sets of Witch Arrays from his Space Ring, both to protect himself and to counteract any potential trouble that might follow.

After all, he couldn’t guarantee whether something might follow him back here; it’s always right to prepare proactively.

Everything was ready.

Duke stood in the center of the teleportation point, his spiritual power gently touching the radiance of the Coordinates Earring.

The radiance trembled slightly, then began to expand from a rice grain-sized point rapidly to fist-sized, eventually growing large enough to envelop an entire person.

Gray-white light surged from the depths of the Spiritual Sea, resonating with the glyphs on the teleportation point beneath his feet, emitting a deep hum.

An unfounded wind arose in the basement, making the hem of Duke’s robe flap fiercely.

He closed his eyes, focusing his magic power into its most stable state, spiritually locking onto the coordinates, confirming the stability of the return route one last time.

Suddenly, the gray-white glow contracted, disappearing along with the man and light from the basement air.

A minute ripple spread above the teleportation point, as if a pebble had been cast into a water surface; after a few circles, the ripples settled into stillness.

Silence returned to the basement, with only occasional faint sounds of wind passing through the wooden board crevices overhead and the extremely light sweetness of mixed floral scents from the Flower Sea Plane seeping through stone stair cracks.
