World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 228: Still Alive [150 PS Bonus - (5)]Chapter 228: Still Alive [150 PS Bonus Chapter (5)]
Leon stared at the injured creature that had just materialized before them, speechless.
However, his surprise quickly shifted to killing intent. Not just because it was a Tier Two creature, but because it had flames burning on its large pincers.
’Those flames... I recognize them...!’
Among everyone, he was the only one who knew of all Marie’s skills, and he had seen them being used before.
’She definitely can’t handle a Tier Two alone. Is she injured right now?’
He stepped forward, drawing the mutated scorpion’s attention to him. The insect released a low, threatening sound, curling its tail and pointing it at him.
Leon’s gaze snapped to the stinger, and he could see it stained in blood.
’Marie...?’
He blinked, then said in a barely audible voice.
"Cassie, take Fel and go find Marie. Now."
The black-haired lady nodded, and without asking questions, took Fel’s hand. The two of them dashed back, moving to the outer perimeter of the forest.
"Boss...?"
Richard blinked, surprised. What was going on? Miguel was equally confused, but Leon wasn’t exactly in the right state to answer them at this moment.
’If it’s true...’
He gritted his teeth, trying to suppress the burning rage in his heart.
’... I’ll kill you!’
Bang!
He abruptly dashed at the scorpion, appearing right before it in a flash. The insect was stunned, but reacted swiftly. Its sharp pincers struck at him like scissors, but Leon twisted out of the way, stabbing his spear straight at the crack on its head.
BANG!
The carapace shattered under brute force and the sharpness of the spear. Instead of pushing deeper, Leon pulled out his spear and disengaged, looking at the scorpion darkly.
’That previous injury was caused by a spear. Marie’s spear... that confirms it!’
His body shook, and he felt his mind get clouded by a heated fog.
’I just want it gone.’
"Boss...?"
He didn’t even hear Miguel or Richard calling out to him. He dashed at the scorpion, faster than before. He appeared by its side, then struck with his spear.
BANG!
Another carapace shell cracked and shattered, and the scorpion reeled in agony. It turned to attack him, but Leon was already gone.
He appeared at its other side and delivered the same attack, forcing it to turn its attention to him again.
Before it could even see him, he had slipped away again. He reappeared behind it, then stabbed his spear into the base of its tail. The mutated scorpion froze up, then screeched in pain as it thrashed around, desperately trying to swat him away.
However, Leon remained slippery, weaving between its limbs and striking spots covered with the carapace.
Usually, the carapace would have been a layer of absolute defense, giving anything below Tier Two no chance to injure it.
However, against the Titanbreaker Spear, it was just like plastic. Every section he struck shattered like brittle glass, and the creature kept roaring in pain.
In just a few minutes, the scorpion could no longer stand. Its carapace was shattered across its entire body, its legs useless beneath it, and its tail lay several meters away.
Miguel gulped at the sight. He had never seen Leon act so... mad. It was obvious that he didn’t just want to kill the scorpion. He definitely wanted to torture it to death.
"Boss is just... so OP!" Richard grinned, adjusting his glasses.
He ignored the strange looks he got from Miguel and his own tamed beasts, focusing on Leon as his eyes glowed with admiration.
Leon made his way down from the scorpion’s back, standing right in front of its head.
The mutated scorpion looked at him weakly, its eyes flickering with weariness. Leon held its gaze for a few seconds, then asked the question that had been plaguing his mind.
"Did you kill her?"
He knew it was useless asking such a question, but he couldn’t stop himself. As expected, the scorpion was confused, as it had no idea who Leon was talking about.
It had killed several of humans today. How could it know which one Leon was referring to?
Seeing it stare at him blankly, Leon’s anger eased slightly, and he clicked his tongue.
Without saying anything else, he struck its head with a punch, driving his entire arm into it.
[You have slain a Level 58 Tier Two Mutated Savage Scorpion!]
[You cannot level up!]
[Progress has been stored!]
Leon felt a trickle of Origin flow into him, guided by the Star Stream. This was a feeling he had begun to notice after reaching Tier One, and he usually paid attention to it.
’This... doesn’t seem complete. Since Marie also fought this thing before I killed it, she must have received some Origin too. That means she’s still alive...?’
He secretly heaved a sigh of relief and stored the scorpion’s corpse in his storage ring.
"We’re cutting today’s expedition here."
Miguel blinked in surprise. "We’re heading back?"
"You heard me right."
Leon immediately dashed away, and they followed closely behind him. Although he was tempted to leave them behind so he could confirm Marie’s condition faster, he didn’t dare to.
What if another Tier Two creature suddenly appeared and attacked them in his absence?
Even though he was confident that Miguel and Richard with the tamed beasts could handle a Tier Two creature, he wasn’t overconfident—especially after seeing the mutated mantis almost kill Fel.
’What a bad day...’
After several minutes, they finally left the forest and returned to the city. Even from the Outer Ring, he could sense the uproar.
Leon immediately left Richard and Miguel behind, appearing in the Core Ring in less than ten seconds.
He rushed into the villa, then scanned the whole place with his Shadow Sense. It didn’t take long for him to find the people he was searching for, and he finally sighed in relief.
For a moment, he simply stood there on the ground floor, huffing as he tried to calm his agitated heart.
’For goodness’s sake, a lot has happened today, huh?’
His expression remained dark as he quietly reminded himself. The apocalypse had made the world far more dangerous than it had been, and he couldn’t afford to underestimate it.
