World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 12: A Different Way To Use Wind Monarch SkillEvan woke up early the next morning, feeling completely refreshed.
He prepared a delicious breakfast for himself using the Forest Tiger meat, and once he finished eating, he immediately decided to test Wind Monarch Skill in a different ways.
He had spent some time thinking about what he could do with his skill and had come up with many different ways to utilize its power.
However, his current strength was still too low to properly use most of his ideas.
There were still a few techniques he could attempt with his current power, but he would need to practice them properly before he could use them effectively.
To test his first idea, Evan closed his eyes and sensed the surrounding wind.
Since he had been doing this frequently during his training, sensing the wind around him wasn’t particularly difficult anymore.
Furthermore, because he wasn’t trying to control the wind, he didn’t need to consume much Mana.
After sensing the surrounding wind, Evan tried to detect any vibrations or anomalies disturbing its natural flow.
However, since he was inside a forest, there were countless things disturbing the flow of wind.
At first, Evan couldn’t obtain any useful information.
But as time passed, he soon realized that most of the disturbances in the Wind Flow were being caused by the trees around him.
As the wind encountered the trees, its flow would be interrupted, creating disturbances in the surrounding air.
Evan tried to identify these disturbances, wondering if he could use this technique to sense the location of people around him.
There were also several tall stones in his surroundings.
Similar to trees, when the wind came into contact with these stones, it caused disturbances in the Wind Flow.
By tracing the location of these disturbances, Evan could figure out the positions of the stones without even looking at them.
However, the stones couldn’t move on their own, breathe, or perform any other activity that would disturb the wind in an irregular manner.
This meant that when the wind encountered an inanimate object, the disturbance in its flow would remain relatively consistent.
However, when the wind was disturbed by a living being, its flow pattern would continuously change.
Unlike an inanimate object, a living creature would constantly make small movements and cause changes in the flow of the wind.
By identifying whether a disturbance was consistent or inconsistent, Evan could potentially figure out whether the flow of wind was being disturbed by an inanimate object or a living being.
Suddenly, Evan thought of another possibility.
What if a person stopped moving and remained completely still like an inanimate object?
Would he still be able to detect them through the wind?
As he pondered deeply, the answer naturally came to him.
A living person still needed to breathe to survive.
Every time they inhaled or exhaled, the surrounding wind would be disturbed slightly.
Therefore, even if someone remained completely still in the same place, Evan could theoretically sense their presence through the changes in the Wind Flow.
Of course, his current ability wasn’t anywhere near that advanced.
At his current level, he couldn’t even properly sense an ordinary person walking around him, much less detect someone who was standing completely still and only breathing.
But Evan believed that the more familiar he became with this technique, the more accurately he would be able to sense his surroundings.
When he first attempted to sense the area through the wind, there were simply too many disturbances around him.
He couldn’t distinguish between the different sources of those disturbances.
However, after practicing for a few hours, Evan slowly began to understand the subtle differences between them.
The disturbances caused by stones were relatively consistent, while the disturbances caused by living creatures, such as birds and small animals, were constantly changing.
Even the trees were different.
Although the trees themselves were inanimate, their branches and leaves moved whenever the wind passed through them, creating constantly changing disturbances.
Once he understood these differences, his ability to sense his surroundings gradually improved.
Evan continued practicing this technique from morning until late afternoon.
By the time he stopped, he was somewhat capable of using the technique and could sense a few things within one hundred meters around him.
Although he was still far from being able to freely sense everything around him, he had made considerable progress.
At the same time, he noticed that his Mana control had actually improved much faster than before.
Evan was quite satisfied with his rate of improvement and nodded in satisfaction.
Later that afternoon, while Evan was preparing lunch for himself, he suddenly heard the alarm he had set up around his campsite.
He immediately stopped what he was doing and turned off the alarm.
He quickly grabbed Black Star and used the surrounding wind to sense the location of whatever had triggered it.
After sensing the surroundings for about a minute, he confirmed that there were no magical beasts nearby.
The alarm had actually been triggered by humans.
Moreover, they weren’t far from his location, only around fifty meters away from his campsite.
However, several bushes were blocking his line of sight, preventing him from seeing them clearly.
Evan immediately walked toward their location.
When he reached the area, he saw two people who appeared to be around his age.
One was a boy, while the other was a girl.
The moment the duo sensed someone approaching them, they immediately took out their weapons.
Both of them held swords in their hands and looked at Evan warily.
Evan wasn’t surprised by their reaction, as he also had a sword in his hand.
Inside a forest filled with magical beasts, it was perfectly normal for people to remain cautious around strangers.
There were many reasons why people might attack each other in such a dangerous place, including robbery and disputes over resources.
Evan didn’t move any closer to them.
After realizing that both of them were around his age, he slowly put away Black Star.
It wasn’t unusual for people around his age to enter the forest for training, so he guessed that these two had probably come here for the same reason.
When the duo saw Evan put away his sword, they also lowered their weapons.
However, they still looked at him cautiously.
Evan had lived with his grandparents for his entire life and wasn’t particularly good at starting conversations with strangers.
So, he simply said the first thing that came to his mind.
"Sorry. I thought a magical beast had triggered the alarm. I was resting nearby, so I set up an alarm just in case a magical beast came out of the forest."
After hearing his explanation, the duo relaxed slightly and put away their swords.
The boy stepped forward and smiled faintly.
"Don’t worry about it. When you are resting in a place filled with magical beasts, it’s always good to take some security measures."
The boy looked around fifteen years old, roughly the same age as Evan.
He was around 170 centimeters tall and wore black leather armor with matching leather pants.
He had sharp facial features, black hair, and green eyes, giving him a handsome appearance.
The girl also appeared to be around fifteen years old.
She had pale-white skin, green eyes, and long, shiny black hair similar to the boy’s.
She was around 165 centimeters tall and wore specially designed female leather armor that fit her figure perfectly.
After hearing the boy’s words, Evan simply nodded and turned around, returning to his campsite.
However, when he returned, he immediately noticed something unusual.
A completely black object was sitting above his campfire, and the smell of burnt meat filled the surroundings.
Seeing the black object over the fire, Evan’s expression instantly turned ugly.
"Damn it."
He walked over and picked up the completely burnt piece of meat.
Apparently, he had forgotten about the food he had been cooking while talking to the two strangers.
Evan could only throw away the burnt meat and take another piece of Forest Tiger meat from his Storage Ring.
He placed it over the fire and began cooking again.
While waiting for his food, Evan noticed the same duo walking toward the Dark Forest.
He watched them disappear into the forest before returning his attention to his meal.
After eating lunch, Evan resumed his training.
He planned to enter the Dark Forest again tomorrow, and before doing so, he still wanted to test Wind Monarch in several other ways.
The rest of the day passed without anything noteworthy happening.
As Evan tested Wind Monarch in different ways, his control over Mana also improved at a rapid pace.
Eventually, night arrived, and after eating dinner, Evan went to sleep.
The following morning, he woke up early and immediately checked his legs.
A smile appeared on Evan’s face when he discovered that his legs had completely recovered.
After checking his condition and confirming that there were no remaining injuries that would hinder his movement, he packed up his tent and all his other camping equipment and stored everything inside his Storage Ring.
Once he was certain that he hadn’t left anything behind, Evan looked toward the entrance of the Dark Forest.
He tightened his grip around Black Star and once again stepped into the forest.
"Let’s hope I don’t get injured this time and can come out without a scratch."
